Region: Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.
Town: Midway between Cheltenham and Broadway, the thriving Fairtrade town of Winchcombe, a conservation site, is located above the River Isbourne. Visitors can browse the unique selection of local stores along the town's three main streets, which still have plenty of charm thanks to their honey-coloured stone and timbered exterior or try a tantalising assortment of regional fare in the town's restaurants, wine bars, tea shops, and delis. Farmers' markets, country events, and music and arts festivals are also held in the town. Throughout the summer, guided tours of the town are offered, and Winchcombe is ideally situated for walking of all levels because it is where the Cotswold Way, Gloucestershire Way, Warden's Way, and Windrush Way converge.

Really great cottage on the main highstreet of Winchcombe. Great location for walks and exploring the Cotswolds. Location on the high street means that the living room is quite noisy but this does not seem to affect the rest of the house and the village is quiet at night so no problem sleeping. Stairs are quite steep and two bedrooms are attic rooms so may not suit some guests. Only one bathroom and the living room sofa and chairs are brutally uncomfortable. However, these are small points as the property was fantastically appointed (dishwasher and washing machine included) really clean and the rooms were generally really comfortable and welcoming. I stayed with my adult family for around 2 weeks and would definitely stay there again despite the small points raised above.
