Tawnawood is positioned along with 2 other cottages, Cobble and Nuthatch, just beyond the owners’ home in 20 acres of ancient peaceful private woodland, surrounded by a working farm and accessed via a ½ mile driveway up through the woods.
Accessed via their own entrance path, the three cottages are all fitted with modern appliances and have loads of character with exposed beams, and stonework, as well as log burners for you to cosy up in front of.
Private enclosed garden with wood fired hot tub, dining space & barbecue. A Sauna and Spa area will be available from late June / early Jul. 2025 (date TBC). An additional meeting room / events space is also available to book.
Deer, pheasants, hawks, and buzzards may sometimes accompany your drive up through the woods and in the spring a carpet of bluebells cover the ancient woodland.
Situated in a delightful position with far reaching views overlooking the Glynn Valley and Lanhydrock Estate. The countryside is undulating and lightly wooded and thought by some to be the most beautiful in the county.
The location is as idyllic as it is convenient. Easily accessible from the A30, it’s an easy and accessible location to explore the whole of Cornwall and access local amenities without miles of winding lanes, but just distant enough from the outside world to be a quiet rural retreat
Both the North and South coasts are 20 minutes away. It's an ideal location to explore the mystical Bodmin Moor. Forestry England's Cardinham woods with its own visitor centre, walking and mountain biking trails are at the end of the drive, making it ideals for adventure lovers too and a haven for dogs, with lots of walks straight from the door.
Guests have access to our pastures and 14 acres of ancient woodland.
The cottage also benefits from its own private enclosed garden with wood fired hot tub, dining space & barbecue for you to relax in.
An additional meeting room / events space is also available to book.
Our rates are inclusive of bed linen, towels, electricity and a generous starter supply of wood for the log burner and hot tub. If required, cots and highchairs can also be made available free of charge.
Outdoor seating areas are available for guests use, as well as barbecues. We offer storage for bikes and paddle boards and designated off street parking with 7kw untethered EV chargers available for guest use.
We welcome responsible dog owners and their pets. Dogs stay free and can be walked in all areas of the land but for the safety and enjoyment of both your pooch and other guests, we ask that they always remain on leads, that they don't cause a nuisance to other guests and that you pick up after them. We do not accept dogs that are on the banned dogs list or XL Bullies (even with an exemption certificate.)
There’s a max. of 2 dogs allowed. Dogs shouldn't be left alone in the cottage and aren't allowed on the furniture. Don't forget their bedding and bowls. If needs be, we can offer either a dog sitting service or a 'dog watching' service.
We'd be delighted to welcome you to our piece of Cornish Paradise and look forward to you staying.
We endeavour to meet all our guests on arrival, show you around and be available with any help and advice that you may need during your stay.
Sometimes, this isn't always possible, however, if this is case, we will arrange for you to self-check-in, with any contact details that you need.
We are of course on hand to answer any questions that you have prior to booking and will stay in touch with you from booking through to arrival.
Dating back to the mid 1700’s, Tawnawood and the other barns have been lovingly converted using elm and oak from the surrounding woods. They offer a mix contemporary, rustic, quirky and charming interiors.
Each barn is unique and is full of interesting architectural features making the interiors appealing and offer a lovely, warm, welcoming ambience.
Surrounded by pleasantly landscaped gardens and wonderful valley views from their own patios, they are ideal for couples looking for a perfect hideaway and for families seeking a secluded spot away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, please note that we do not allow smoking and vaping in the properties or anywhere on site.
All our cottages have their own wood fired hot tubs set in their own private, enclosed garden included in the price for guests to use.
In addition, a Sauna & Spa area with additional hot tub and cold-water drench will be available for guests to book and exclusively use at an additional cost from late June / early Jul 2025 (date TBC) onwards.
