This landscape of narrow ditches, green meadows, and swaying reed beds is affectionately called “the Veld” by the locals. In the spring, it’s teeming with life: black-tailed godwits, lapwings, bluethroats, and bearded reedlings are out in full force—and who knows, you might even spot a marsh harrier soaring overhead or a kingfisher perched right beside you.
Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the water, listen to the rustling of the reeds, and feel the wind in your hair. Whether you’re scanning for birds with binoculars, walking in silence along the old paths, or enjoying a sunset from the deck of the tjalk—in the Veld, you’ll always experience something special.
