There is excellent walking on the doorstep with the national trail, Cleveland Way, starting in Helmsley, which has fabulous views of the coast and ancient stone crosses. Further afield approximately 10 miles east is the historic market town of Pickering, which is home to a wider range of amenities and traditional shops.
