Sit out on our balcony that offers views towards the lake and distant mountains. While the apartment isn’t listed as having a lake view, on clear days you may catch a glimpse of the lake from your accommodation.
You’ll be staying in the absolute heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, in England’s stunning Lake District National Park. Just a 5-minute walk to the lake our apartment is perfectly located for families, couples, or friends. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, it’s the perfect base for your Lake District getaway.
The main feature of our apartment is the open-plan living space with kitchen and dining area that opens up to a patio sitting area with balcony offering views towards the lake and distant mountains.
Located on the second floor of Quarry Rigg apartments our private apartment sleeps up to four. Two bedrooms comprise of a main bedroom with a comfortable double bed and the second bedroom with two single beds. Enjoy the brand new modern bathroom fitted with electric shower over the bath and large mirror with built-in lighting.
The best part of the apartment is the balcony, where you can choose to relax in the evenings with a glass of wine and enjoy a sunset view overlooking the treetops that line Lake Windermere. The balcony is also perfect for the mornings to enjoy an alfresco breakfast while you plan your days adventures. After a long day of exploring, come back to your home-away-from-home and unwind by watching a film on the Smart TV.
Self catering has been made easy with a well-equipped kitchen which has all the tools you'll need to prepare meals that can be enjoyed around the dining table.
LOCATION
Praised for its fantastic location and cosy atmosphere past guests have enjoyed the proximity to local amenities and the scenic views from the apartment's balcony. Our guests appreciate its closeness to all the local shops, restaurants, and the lake. Our two-bedroom apartment forms part of a modern development on Quarry Rigg in central Bowness. Boasting off-street residents parking and just a short distance from Lake Windermere, it makes for an ideal base for up to four guests.

PARKING
Private parking is available at the property but is on a first-come, first-served basis. Rigg & Rest does not have a designated parking space but guests are free to park on the residents' car park, at the bottom car park close to the apartment or 100 yards up the hill for Quarry Rigg apartment guests on the other main communal parking area. Spaces are not guaranteed and may be limited during peak times. If the private parking is full, there are several nearby alternatives.

Access is via a key code safe at the property, for which the code will be given to guests on check-in days. Parking on site for 1 car, subject to availability on the communal car park(s).

THE AREA
Visitors to the Lake District National Park are drawn to the lively village of Bowness on Windermere because it offers a great base to explore the region. Bowness has a wide variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, cinema and theatre, tourist attractions, local fell walks, and the lake with all its water sports are just moments away, something to satisfy all tastes. Heading out into the village centre of Bowness-on-Windermere below the apartment you will first find The World of Beatrix Potter along with the new Peter Rabit themed café.
Families and couples will also love the easy access to boat cruises and scenic walking trails from the apartment, the perfect playground for all outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Lake District.
Planning days out you will be spoilt for choice and easy to reach buy bus, boat or car you can explore; the National Trust's Wray Castle, Brockhole Visitors Centre or Treetop Trek’s, just a few of the many attractions you can enjoy nearby.
If you're looking for something to eat or drink after a day of sightseeing, Boardwalk Bar & Grill or Porto Restaurant are great options in the village. Or pick up a takeaway and enjoy this back at the apartment.
Be sure to visit other nearby villages such as Grasmere or Ambleside. Ambleside is situated at the north end of the Lake which is well worth a visit. Be sure to pop into Zeffirellis or Copper Pot to refuel and relax after a day of exploring. You can also visit the market town of Kendal, which is a great place to shop for souvenirs and no trip to Kendal would be complete without a taste of the renowned Kendal Mint Cake!
At the southern end of the lake, you will find Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway you can easily reach these via a Windermere Lake Cruises from Bowness which starts with a 5 minute stroll from your apartment. You can easily fill your day with a choice of boat cruises and boat rentals to Brockhole, Ambleside, and Lakeside. For those with more energy get out on lake to try variety of watersports such as paddleboarding or try a spot of wild swimming!
If walking is on your agenda then choose from one of Windermeres three peaks to explore direct from the apartments doorstep. You can walk to the peak of Brantfell or Orrest Head to take in the breathtaking vista of far-reaching views over the lake and nearby fells – try and name many of the Wainwrights in the distance. If you fancy a more challenging hike then try England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
Bowness is situated centrally for exploring everything this region has to offer. With easy access to many attractions like the stunning Langdales, Beatrix Potter's Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and "Go-Ape" adventure park you will need to come back again to tick everything off your wish list!
