Furnished, well-appointed, spacious 3800 sq foot “executive home” on exclusive Scarborough Beach. The beach is a one-minute walk from the home down a path lined with bushes that flower in the summer. The beach and area are outstanding for swimming, walking, surfing, and boating. There are spectacular views of Stratton Island, Shooting Rocks, and Black Point. There are excellent golf courses within 15 minutes of the house, public tennis courts and wildlife and bird sanctuaries. Public boat ramps are nearby. The layout of the home is a split level with 4 BRs and 2 and 1/2 Baths. There is a dining room, living room, and two family rooms, a large sun room and open deck. Amenities include high speed Internet and cable TV. The executive home is fully furnished with dishes, linens, and BBQ.

Large home quiet street. Short walk to Scarborough beach. Large TV and plenty of linens and utensils It was only 2 of us so we never downstairs Valerie was always very responsive to my calls
We have stayed in this cottage before. We rented both cottages and did again. When we asked our family where they wanted to go they all answered “the cottages we rented before!” We have so much fun staying here with our adult kids and grandkids. Valerie gets back to us right away with any questions. We have everything we need in a quiet neighborhood close with an access to the beach. Thank you for our great trip!
The house is quite simple, but it is very spacious and has everything you need. Scarborough Beach is a very special place and to be able to walk there makes this house a great find.
Scarborough Beach is a family favorite. This home is a short walk down a hidden path to the most private end of the beach. The home has everything you might need. We had a wonderful week.
Great location. There were plenty of rooms for our children to keep working on vacation. There were smoke detectors and Carbon dioxide detectors. The only problem was - there were only 2 room air conditioners and some of the rooms did not have screens in the windows, so we could not open the windows at night for more air movement. There were some dehumidifiers but running them seemed to put more heat into the room. But the house was clean and we did enjoy having all our children with us.
This is a beautiful property in a private setting with access to the end of Scarborough Beach. The layout of the house is so spacious and comfortable. Everything was spotless! The proximity to the beach gave 3 generations of my family the ability to enjoy their own schedules without having to worry about being ready at the same time to drive together. 10 minute drive to stores and food, also close to Two Lights and Portland. So many wonderful memories from the week! We would definitely recommend to anyone, and in fact are thinking of booking again for next summer!

Never again
After staying a week, we were very surprised by the positive reviews.
Pros: the house is near the beach. The beach is beautiful and not crowded whatsoever. You do need to rake a spot because there is a lot of seaweed. The screened in porch was really nice.
Cons: the house is old and musty. You cannot move in the upstairs bed without the entire thing making noise. We killed at least 50 ants, spiders, and earwigs. The three bedrooms in the basement are less than desirable to sleep in. There are multiple dehumidifiers we had to empty daily, sometimes twice daily. When drying clothes, the entire room becomes a sauna, soaking the entire bathroom. It was disgusting. We also could not locate any smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, which made doing laundry extra scary.
We discovered an apartment attached to the basement that was supposed to be locked and it was disgusting. We worried someone else would be in there but the owner said no one would staying there.
We were asked to sweep, vacuum and wipe down counters at the end of the stay despite paying a cleaning fee. After being in the basement bedrooms, our feet were consistently black. For what we paid, we are extremely disappointed and would never stay here again and would recommend you don’t either.

If you look at the reviews, you will find a different story. Some guests have an extreme "sensitivity" to things that are really a part of the normal, well-maintained homes. The house was built in 1963 and well maintained. In June 2023 we had the rainiest month in history. All of Maine in our region, had very high humidity and increased humidity in the homes. Homes required running dehumidifiers in rooms that were on slab as the moisture from the high rains produced high humidity. I am very sensitive to musty. I am at the home now and it does not smell musty and . Because of the this June, we have installed continuous draining dehumidiers in case we have a situation like this again in the coming years.
There are some guests who have an unusually high intolerance for insects like occasional spiders etc. that are part of the Maine environment in clean and well maintained homes. Yes I am sure that if I hunt I will find a spider; generally a Daddy Long Legs.
We have smoke detectors.
We did change out the dryer that is a small laundry room after this guest.
The black feet is apocryphal. I am walking all over the same space and do not have black feet.
The guests broke into a locked mother in law and owners space that is not used.
Given the extreme response to that which is normal, these guests, honestly, are ones to which we would never rent to again.
We had a wonderful stay at this comfortable home near Scarborough Beach. The screened porch was delightful and huge - we had fun eating dinners out there without fear of being carried away by mosquitoes. There are lots of separate areas to hang out, which was nice with two kids and an infant. The walk to the beach takes about 2-3 minutes on a pretty trail, and the beach itself was gorgeous. We loved how close we were to Portland as well, it was fun to be able to make a quick trip in for bagels or a brewery stop. The basement was a little musty, even with the dehumidifier running all the time - but that's to be expected so close to the ocean. This house was a lovely spot and we will hopefully be returning again next year!
The house was very comfortable for sleeping 4 adults and 4 children. The easy access to the sandy private beach, via a 1 minute walk, was quite a treasure. We're definitely interested in returning next year
Very comfortable clean house in a fantastic location
This home is a 2’ walk down a picturesque lane to an amazing beach. Very few people on a very long and clean beach. Fantastic views. The home was very comfortable for all 9 of us, 3 families total with 6 adults and children 5, 2 and 1.5 years old. Also a very short bike ride to Ferry Beach which is calmer for swimming laps and playing for young children. The owners were very available. The sole recommendation is that they take a look at the dishwasher which is okay but not great - we ended up doing a lot of dishes by hand. There are multiple common spaces for hanging out and we enjoyed all of them - the living room w a great view, front lawn, family room w a large tv for the kids, very large back screened room was our favorite for dining, jigsaw puzzles and generally just being together. This large, rambling home was perfect for our big family; well furnished kitchen which was important since we cooked almost all meals there. Neighbors were friendly. Highly recommend this house!
The 7 of us really enjoyed our stay in the house. Spacious common rooms and a well-stocked kitchen. Very quiet neighborhood. Love the little path to the private beach. Would stay again!
Finally able to get all our kids and grandkids together.
The property gave room for us all to have privacy but we always gathered on the large three season porch for meals. I even slept on the porch with my grandkids, a great adventure for them! The beach was beautiful and close. Also, not many people or surfers to interfere with boogey boarding. We rented the house next door for a week as well to accommodate my other daughter’s family. We hope to be able to stay again. Our grandkids never wanted to leave and grandma took a two hour nap when they did!
Perfect location and home for a family of eight all with competing demands for an ideal vacation. Some needed A beach close by, others golf and tennis and one an ice cream shop! Some needed WiFi to be able to work and everyone had their own place to venture off to. A centrally located kitchen with the cook’s ability to chat with people in any room! The screened in porch out back is just lovely! Breweries and Portland are a stone’s throw away. The early morning light is spectacular and the beach is secluded and gorgeous! Valerie met us at the property and ensured that all our needs were met, such a lovely person with lots of advice for us on how to enjoy our time there! If we make this an annual tradition, we definitely want to come back to this slice of heaven!
Family of 4 with young children, a quiet and calm getaway in a residential neighborhood with the beach truly walkable - never crowded. The house was large and full of personality, great deck in the back, driving distance to everywhere we would have wanted to go - but the main attraction is a few steps away in any case. Everything was clean and organized. Valerie was great. We truly had an amazing stay!
Great location a three-minute walk from a beautiful beach that was virtually empty whenever we went. The house itself is surprisingly spacious, with multiple seating areas—it’s easy if different groups want to do different things, or if someone needs a quiet spot to work. It’s comfortable, extremely clean and very relaxing.
