Perfectly located close to many of the Lakes District’s top attractions, yet set back to offer a tranquil stay.
Sitting in a slightly elevated position with views out over Loughrigg fell, this property offers the best of both worlds: Ambleside village, with its pubs, restaurants and shops and the attractive, undulating landscape of fells and beautiful Rydal Water.
Also within easy reach of the popular village of Grasmere (3 miles) or the bustling Windermere.
Dora's Field is a semi-open woodland in Grasmere, renowned for fine displays of bluebells and daffodils, was once owned by William Wordsworth.

Explore a quirky farmhouse with an even quirkier family at Townend, a 17th century farmhouse The Brownes were just an ordinary family of farmers, living in Troutbeck near Windermere, but their quirky home at Townend and their belongings bring to life over 400 years of extraordinary stories and characters
There are excellent walking opportunities amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside there are dozens of walks from the door step with the Fairfield Horseshoe providing a good days walk for the more adventurous.
Alternatively get the steamer down the lake to visit other villages or walking on the the shores of lake Windermere (10 miles long). Or simply chug to the Lakes Aquarium at Lakeside which takes a look at the marine life of Lake Windermere. You can combine this with the ferry to Fell Foot where you can hire rowing boats or sailing craft, simply swim or picnic by the shore or let the young ones loose on the adventure playground.
While over to the west lies Coniston Water, and in between there’s Grizedale Forest. A day out in itself for walking or mountain biking or tackling the impressive ‘Go Ape’ high ropes course. Beyond this lies the central massif of the Langdales for some high level walking and climbing.
So if you want to walk, cycle, sail climb, ride, explore, fly or cruise this unique area has an abundance of woodland walks as well as fell walking, coastal walks, cycle paths and quiet leafy lanes to explore or you can name your adrenaline rush and you’ll find it! Why they chose this property
We have rented this apartment many times over the past 15 years, from Susan - the previous owner, who is a very special & close friend of ours, and jumped at the chance to buy it when it became available. We have loved the area all our lives and feel central Ambleside is one of the best parts as it is easy to access most areas of the lakes whilst offering shops, pubs and great restaurants. We have continued to refurbish the property and continually improve the apartment and hope to continue sharing this luxury space with past and future guests.
What makes this property unique
Undoubtedly, the views... and light flooding in... and sitting on the balcony with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. We love walking down to lake Windermere, the cinemas in Ambleside and enjoying the fabulous food on offer within a short walk of the apartment.
To be able to go on some lovely walks without the need of going in the car first is fantastic. Hiring a motor boat on Lake Windermere for a few hours and taking a picnic is a lot of fun!
There are some great walks including pubs en-route. Such as the mortal man. For the more ambitious the Fairfield Horseshoe.
Walk or drive over to Skelwith Bridge and walk along the river. Or walk down to the park and then along the river.
Stagshaw gardens a few yards down the road is fabulous for its rhododendrons and woodland garden
Rydal water is a short walk away and one of the most beautiful views in the lakes
Blackwell is one of Britain's finest Arts & Crafts historic houses. Located south of Windermere with views over the lake.
