About this property

Moragoe Homestead rich in historyand character

Set amongst majestic rolling hills and sweeping valleys near Werona and Kooroocheang, Moragoe Homestead is a landmark country estate rich in history, charm and timeless rural beauty.

Originally settled in the mid-1800s, this elegant colonial-style homestead sits proudly at the entrance to its expansive 1800-acre working farm, offering guests a truly unique escape immersed in nature and heritage.

Inside, the scale and character of the home are immediately impressive. A spacious lounge with a striking open fireplace and reverse cycle heating flows into an enormous family room designed for gathering and relaxation. The home offers five bedrooms, including a master suite with ensuite, while two additional bathrooms provide comfort and convenience for larger groups. Two of the bedrooms also offer flexible split-bed configurations.

A traditional central hallway, original features and multiple fireplaces enhance the home’s old-world atmosphere, while split systems in two bedrooms ensure year-round comfort. The country-style kitchen retains its authentic charm with a traditional Raeburn wood stove used for heating.

Outdoors, guests are invited to slow down and reconnect with the landscape. Two outdoor clawfoot baths have been thoughtfully positioned to overlook the surrounding farmland, creating a truly memorable bathing experience beneath the open sky. A large undercover deck provides outdoor dining for eight guests, while countless peaceful corners across the property showcase unique historic pieces and rustic farm character.

Deep Creek meanders along the rear boundary for those wanting to explore the property further, while the fire pit area offers the perfect place to gather in the evenings, subject to local fire restrictions.

Steeped in history, Moragoe Homestead has hosted distinguished owners over generations and has even featured in several films. A wide wraparound verandah overlooks established country gardens, perfectly framing the beauty and grandeur of this remarkable property.

The farm operates using regenerative farming principles with no chemical use, and all livestock are grass fed.

For larger group stays, two additional homes are also located on the estate — The Falls at Lake Werona and Cottage at Lake Werona — both available to book separately.

Moragoe Homestead offers the following flexible bedding configuration:

Bedroom 1 - 1 King or 2 Singles

Bedroom 2 - 1 Queen

Bedroom 3 - 1 King or 2 Singles

Bedroom 4 - 1 King

Bedroom 5 - 1 Singles
