We really enjoyed the convenience of the location as it was so easy to get anywhere - close to the highway, close to airport and close to the old Port. Our host was very responsive and friendly.
Our family enjoyed our week-long stay! The property is convenient to downtown, with scenic drives to area beaches. We would likely stay here again if returning to the Portland area.
Great house, great location in a very nice neighborhood. A couple of issues upon arrival in which
the owner took care of right away. Owner very nice, accommodating and
promptly responds. No central air, so house feels humid, but portable a/c's do keep the house cool.
Kitchen well stocked, comfortable beds
This was a great house we shared with 6 adults and had plenty of room. The kitchen had anything you could need. The portable ac units did the trick if you kept them on. They are a bit nousier than central air but they did the trick. Overall great location to get into portland or the surrounding area.
this house was nice but could use some attention in the kitchen. it was a bit dirty and cluttered. also the walk way into the house had over grown bushes that you hit when you walked to the door. overall i would probably stay again in hopes these minor issues were resolved!
My daughters enjoyed being able to use their Stand-up Paddle Boards on the nearby river. in the morning and then shop in the city in the afternoon.
We also liked having a well-supplied kitchen and a near-by grocery store to fix some meals -- although we mostly ate out.
Still many things left to do in the area so we might come back next year.
The hosts, who stayed in the basement of the property while we were there, were quiet and left us alone. They were responsive to texts in a timely fashion
The host was excellent. Responded to concerns immediately. He is sometimes in a separate apartment in the back of the house. It is sound proof as advertised. You won’t know he is there. However, The property needs some help. I cleaned the bathtub, closet shelves and swept the top deck and front door area. The shrubs block the walkway in the front. Need to be trimmed. The back yard is not like the picture, the fence needs to be fixed and several items put away. The trash can and recycle bin in the kitchen needed to be cleaned before plastic is put in them. The property is listed as air conditioned. Two floor units in the bedrooms work fine but the main level was very hot. Need a unit on the first level for the hot weather.

Pictures are deceiving!
First, the property looked like it was abandoned! When we pulled up the knee-high tall grass, dumbbell in the yard, ripped window screens, and the trees and shrub blocking the doorway entry on the sidewalk, was not a welcome sight! I was told the grass and landscape was because of rain, therefore it wasn’t attended to. Funny, but now have seen other people in reviews complain about the same thing. No excuse! When we did enter the house, the owner was still there (after check in time). The house smelled like someone had just cooked a meal. The appliances were nasty (you could have written your name in the smudge on the microwave). The owner said it was professionally cleaned! If so, he got screwed over because it was not! Also, the description says AC. It does have an AC floor unit. It was in the 90’s and humid, and the floor air unit was not on. Amazing! We were there for 10 minutes, opened the door to the garage, and the owner was still there! That was weird to say the least. We left! I have been in contact with the host (no refund) so I am in contact with VRBO. We have rented several properties over the years and this is our worst experience by far. The expectations were not met. I hope this is not a trend for VRBO. If so, I will probably go back to opting for Hotels.

I’m truly disappointed to read this review, not because of the feedback itself—which I welcome—but because of how misrepresentative and hostile it feels, especially given the brief interaction we had.
We value every single guest who chooses to stay with us, and treat each reservation as a privilege. We take great pride in offering clean, comfortable, and welcoming spaces—and hold ourselves to high standards of hospitality, transparency, and respect.
Regarding your claim that the property appeared "abandoned": The grass, while due for its regular scheduled cut the next morning, in no way reflected abandonment. A single 10-pound dumbbell near the basketball hoop and some trimmed greenery near the entry were exaggerated into “knee-high grass” and “trees blocking the doorway.” Since your visit, I’ve added new photos of the entrance to provide full clarity to future guests.
You arrived at the scheduled time, and as is routine, I was completing a walk-through after the professional cleaners had finished. I’ve done this many times with guests—always to ensure quality and readiness. While you described my brief presence as “weird,” I saw it simply as an opportunity to greet you personally. I left moments after welcoming you. I regret that this made you uncomfortable, though I respectfully suggest the discomfort seemed less about the timing and more about who you found in the home.
There was no recent cooking in the unit; we use scent pods throughout all our listings, which are generally well received. The appliances were clean and functional. The only exception was a wall-mounted microwave marked “do not use,” awaiting replacement. A clean, working countertop microwave was present and inspected.
As for temperature: each room is equipped with its own AC unit, and the living room has multiple fans and a large-capacity floor AC. Your arrival day was warm, and I had asked for your ETA to power them on in advance, but received no response. It typically takes just a few minutes to cool the space—a small ask for comfort.
What saddens me most is that you chose to leave without giving me any opportunity to address your concerns in real time. Our priority is always to resolve issues quickly and kindly, and had I known your intent to depart, I would have tried to make things right immediately.
Your choice not to cancel the reservation through proper channels while simultaneously engaging Vrbo for a refund placed us in a difficult position. If a guest is unhappy and chooses to leave, we absolutely welcome a conversation about that and can discuss a refund fairly—especially if we’re asked directly and promptly.
Lastly, I would be remiss not to acknowledge the subtle tone in parts of your review. While I won’t assume intent, describing my presence as "weird," coupled with visible surprise upon meeting me, left me with questions. I’ve hosted hundreds of guests of every background and culture and have built a track record of kind, thoughtful interactions. This was the first time I felt something different.
We remain committed to excellence, fairness, and respect for every traveler who enters our space. I wish you well in your future stays—wherever they may be.
Warmly, Kingsley – Owner & Host

Spacious
I booked in the month of July. Overall, the stay was good. Nice location, quiet neighborhood outside of the bustle, good amount of parking, spacious house. Easy communication with the owners., very quick responses.
A few things to note if staying here. 1. The pictures are much nicer than IRL. Seems to have some wear and tear from age. 2. The house does not have central air, rather individual rooms have units and fans. 3. There were a lot of ants, spiders, daddy long legs throughout the rooms and the house. Mosquitoes filled the home because of the individual room AC units (window openings from the unit). We all had several bites each evening. 4. The rooms are very bright. Not enough window shades or the right type of window shades. Bedrooms could use curtains to keep darker. The dining area and living room could use shades to be pulled for whenever we left to keep the house cooler in temp. We were asked to turn off the ac every time we left…which meant the house was SUPER hot every evening. All in all nice place to stay!
I was there for my church convention
We really enjoyed our stay most of our time
Was out of the house. It felt like home at the
End of the day. I would stay again if it’s available

bad experience !!!
Owner of house backed into one of the vehicles we had parked in the driveway, several hundred dollars damage to our vehicle. There were rotten potatoes in the vegitable bin which created a bad odor. Grass not cut, shrubs almost covered the front entrance. Would not stay there again !!!!!! BAD EXPERIENCE

Sad an unfortunate vehicle bump in which you were made whole with extraordinary gestures set the stage for a distasteful experience.
House was great, perfect size for the 4 of us. Front walkway was a bit overgrown, had to walk threw plants. Deck had weeds growing up through decking. Felt very comfortable there. Thank you!
