We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay. We especially enjoyed your note about seeing the baby fawn bedded down next to the house! We haven’t seen her yet, but are hopeful.
We came to visit, hike, kayak, and fish. 2 of 4 people in our group had never been to the area. So, I wanted to stay somewhere that would show the local beauty. The house was very excellent. The beds were comfortable. The livingroom has huge windows looking out. After hiking and fishing those recliners, looking out the windows, were always occupied. We cooked a feast with the salmom and crab we caught. Oak Harbor is close for food and restaurants. Anacortes is where we did all our activities (Highlander Charter and Anacortes Kayaking Tours).

Thanks, Mike. We are so glad your group enjoyed our place so much!
The recliner in the advertisement is actually broken and difficult to sit in, the couch was seriously hard, was not comfortable to sit on. Little tiny tv, size of a monitor. The view is amazing but for us it wasn’t comfortable to hang out. Washer was broken and they never emptied the dishwasher from the previous guest.

Hi Terry,
We are very sorry that you were not happy at The Preserve. We were surprised at your communication because our other guests have loved the property. We work hard to try to make sure that our guests have a great experience, and as mentioned in our private reply to your message, we take feedback seriously. So a few updates:
We loved the suggestion about upgrading the TV, and a new, larger TV is on-site waiting for the installation appointment. The washer is being replaced, and has already been shipped. As we said before, it was supposed to be repaired the morning of your check-in, but is now being replaced. We are expecting the replacement next week.
We are sorry you were not comfortable in the furnishings we provided, but have tested the lazy boy chairs, and they recline easily. We are sorry you were not comfortable in them.
And finally, we spoke to our cleaning company. They are new this year, but have taken our requests and suggestions, and acted upon them immediately.
We DO take feedback very seriously, and hope you will be happier on future visits to the island.
Thank you for opening your home and giving a place for reprieve. It was what we needed to reconnect and regroup. There was nothing to need for during our stay. The abundance of silence and nature gave us an opportunity to just be and celebrate the little things.
The Preserve has all you need for a relaxing getaway…ample amenities, panoramic views and lots of wildlife. We’ll miss the birds, seen and only heard. Deer were frequent visitors.
Communications with the owner we’re prompt and helpful. Hope to return in 2023!
Quiet getaway for a long weekend! Plenty of space for a family although this time was just the 2 of us. The home was clean and cozy with all amenities one could need. Beautiful view out of the large windows: we literally sat and looked for hours! Binoculars provided were such a bonus!
Down the long gravel driveway you will find an amazing view from this home. Nice open floorplan with all the amenities you will need. I had a family of 4. Beds are only full size so it was a little small for my wife and I. There is an empty office space room that had plenty of space for us to blow up a queen air mattress for my daughter, so everyone had their own room. We had a family of deer visit us every night at dusk and also saw a family of owls in the nearby trees. Nice location only 5 minutes to Oak Harbor, and 15 to Coupeville. Nice beach to drop in kayaks 5 minutes away to pattle the bay between the two cities.
Lovely secluded spot. We enjoyed the view and the wildlife. The house was clean and comfortable. Communication was easy and prompt. We had a wonderful stay.
I needed a get away to just relax. This was perfect. The living room window faced the ocean and a large grassy area. A could just seat in the chair and watch deer, eagles, hawks, and all sorts of birds. It is such a peaceful place.
The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all you need to cook with.
The Preserve is a on a wonderful property with a beautiful view of the beach. We saw bald eagles, deer, bunnies, owl and a turkey vulture right in the backyard. The house was clean and well kept. We’ll definitely go back!
Our goal as to be away from our home which has a high rate of nightly fireworks. The Preserve had several nearby on the 4th, but the prior 2 nights were quite manageable. The space is comfortable with privacy and a wonderful water view . The hosts were very helpful.
Perfect location for us and very clean. Host provided drinking water(we used our own). Island well water is what it is. Tv very small but great internet made up for it. Anyway the view was our entertainment. We were always super comfortable. Whidbey is super fun. Come and enjoy.
Everything about this home was perfect! The house has everything you need and the view is mesmerizing!! The beds are super comfy and the kitchen came fully stocked with everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch & dinner. One of the best treats of this property is the wildlife, deer, bald eagles, and so many birds. This home is a island gem!! The host was also very responsive and incredibly gracious! We’ll definitely be back!!
Restful Retreat on Whidbey Island with a Spectacular View
My husband and I stayed a week in this beautiful setting. We loved the location right on the water, and the rustic charm of the home. We had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The property manager was very communicative and provided us with tons of tips and suggestions to see the surrounding islands and Seattle. We took numerous ferries to see surrounding islands, such as Port Townsend, Clinton, and the San Juan Islands. We took a power boat ride at Deception Pass that I highly recommend. This is beautiful area, and I am so glad we had the opportunity to explore. We hope to come back in the future and miss the sunny, cool days without all the humidity and rain of Virginia.
I could not have imagined a better stay at the property. The house was cozy and had everything an entire family would need. The grounds were am-az-ing! I took so many photos just in the backyard. We were there for the 4th of July and saw fireworks all around us, it was unbelievable. The house is super close to the beach access as well as the town for shopping. But it's far enough away that you hear literally nothing outside except birds and insects. We saw so many animals: Deer, chipmunks, bald eagles, that come right up to the door...again, my words wont do it justice. We will be reserving this spot for ALL our future trips.
Great views of Penn Cove and Cascades in distance. Super quiet private location (driveway is a few hundred yards from road). 5-10 minutes drive to stores/restaurants in Oak Harbor and Coupville. Very well stocked (best we’ve ever experienced) with everything you need for cooking or leftovers (salt/pepper, sugar, flour, spices, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, plastic storage bags, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc. - things you typically need just a small amount and have to buy). Also provided plenty of bottled water (the well water has a poor taste). A few things that could make The Preserve rental even better: Large TV (there is just one small 19” TV), light blocking shades or drapes in the bedrooms (long days in the summer and too bright), screen doors to let the air flow through better, and AC (though typically not needed). It was just me and my wife and we only used one of the bedrooms. Will stay again next time we visit Whidbey Island.
Beautiful views and lots of wildlife! We saw deer, eagles, and hummingbirds all day long. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Hope to be back soon!
Property has a fantastic view of the harbor, comfortable beds and is quiet (with the occasional airplane going overhead during the day). Bird watching and seeing "critters" was amazing - Eagles, hawks, robins, finch, partridge, rabbit and deer.- all visited frequently.
The hosts were more than kind and accommodating to our needs and questions. This place is like coming home- only better!
This property was the perfect size for my spouse and I to stay as we visited our son & family who are stationed here with the Navy. There was room for everyone when they visited during and a place for my grandkids to spend the night. The view was spectacular, the location was peaceful - just far out enough to be calm but close enough to food and shopping. Mattresses were very comfortable and the water pressure was strong!
The location was perfect for an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos - lots of great hiding places and far enough away from the cliff to not worry.
We spent time walking at the beach just down from the home, also visited Deception pass, Coupeville, and Flinstone park. Everywhere you turn - the landscape is breathtaking.
The owners took extra care to ensure everything was available - something that is rare with VRBO - including all the small amenities that you don't think of. Toilet paper, foil, baggies, trash bags, seasonings, oil, hand sanitizer, etc.....they thought of everything!
I would definitely recommend this location.

Why they chose this property
When I stay here, every morning I am awestruck at the view of the water with the snow covered mountains in the background. And, having grown up on a farm with douglas fir trees, I was excited to have the acreage with a forest, a field and the unbeatable view.
