About this property
Prairie retreat with 40 acres! Near Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Amana Colonies.
This unique property is a nature-lover’s dream - with 40 private acres of Iowa’s natural landscape. The well-maintained recreation trails through the prairie are perfect for hiking and flower picking in warm weather or cross-country skiing in the snow. You can also explore the creek, pond, and restored wetland habitat located on the property. (Pond has been disconnected from the creek out of respect to the neighbor farmers tile lines, it no longer has good recreational value) The spacious yards and large deck surrounding the house are perfect for outdoor games, family gatherings, and more!
The house itself is unlike any other! Originally built in 1912, the 3 large additions were artistically created from preserved Iowa barn wood. This includes the spacious sunroom with heated floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and stained-glass accents. Many of the unique wood pieces and furniture in the home were crafted right here in our shop – including the one-of-a-kind vardo wagon parked outside!
Property is conveniently located near Iowa City, Cedar Rapids & The Amana Colonies - only 17.6 miles from the Eastern Iowa Airport. Guests can enjoy easy check-in and check-out with keyless entry. For your safety there are outward facing security cameras located on the house and shop. Cameras point away from the structures only and the inside of the house is never visible.
Please note the additional charge over 6 guests.

The interior was absolutely age appropriate and charming. Built in 1912, the house was immaculate and welcoming. We enjoyed the kitchen, porch, fire pit and just being in the country. Thanks for creating such a good space for all of us.
Lovely! This was the perfect spot for a reading retreat with fellow book lovers. The kitchen is fully equipped, which helped us do shared meals. The home is full of funky art and homemade touches - very cozy. The prairie trails are a real bonus. Comfortable furnishings, heating/cooling, and water temperature.
It is a little out of the way to get to but perfect for a family get together. We were there in the winter but I can imagine the property is amazing when things thaw out.
Fun farm house!!! So cozy and great spaces!! Lots of towels and dish washer pods which was great! Just needed a sponge lol. Highly recommend and we will be back!!
Enjoyed our stay for our youngest son's wedding. We were close to the venue, plenty room for the up to 6 guests who stayed at the property. Could have accommodated more. We did just a cookout with some extended family who stayed a few days after the wedding. Would definately consider staying at the prairie retreat again.
We all had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas! The rustic decor was fun and whimsical, and the grounds were exciting to explore. It featured all the luxuries of home, too. We will definitely stay again!

Cynthia,
Thank you for choosing my home. My app froze when writing your review. Now it says I can’t write a review. You were great guests, following all house rules and left the home very clean.
Thank you again!

If you want privacy and room for you and your family to relax that is only 10 minutes away from town this is it. Kids had their own bunk house to themselves. Plenty of room/beds for a large crew. Sweet little house.
Enjoyed our stay very much! A family getaway for family as well as a birthday party for my grandson and 4 of his friends. They had a great time exploring and we drove them to the lake just a few miles away as well. A very relaxing atmosphere and a lovely old home to spend the time in. Very well maintained.
Lots of private space, lots of wild life, geese on the pond, albino deer and others, many birds, ground hog and litter of five. Very enjoyable stay.

We were in town for a wedding. The groomsman party stayed during the weekend. We were amazed by the unique house and property! The hosts sent detailed instructions online as well as a great binder with information on the property in the house. The house was so clean and stocked with plenty of everyday items needed as well as bonus items such as board games, toys, etc. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Highly recommended this stay!

Thank you Brayden! We really appreciate you supporting our small family business. You and your groomsmen took great care of the home and land,
We loved our stay. Everything went smooth and the property was great. Very rural and quiet even though it was only about ten minutes to Wal Mart. My wife and I use VRBO from time to time and have never seen a property so clean. I wish we could have stayed for longer.
Just as advertised out in the country. Large home plenty of room inside and out. Older kids loved the bunk house. Would love to have stayed longer as we were just in town for wedding. Too busy to enjoy the entire property.
Wonderful setting to gather for our annual college friends gathering. 8 women were able to relax, have plenty of room to sit around to talk, cook and sleep. Great weekend!
This property was spacious enough to host our group of 14 adults. Plenty of parking space. The property is at the end of a dead end, which made our stay very peaceful. The outside amenities was perfect for us. The homeowners were very easy to work with, prior, during, and after our stay. I would highly recommend this place!
