A true Pure Michigan Retreat. Surrounded by rolling hills, trees and wildlife, the Cabin is located on the border of Grand Traverse County and Leelanau County in Traverse City, MI.
Guests need their own transportation. Also, there`s plenty of parking in our circle driveway.
The location of the Cabin is both near and far from everything that Traverse City has to offer. That means guests should plan to bring some snacks and food to prepare for meals, in order to guarantee the most comfortable stay!
Noteworthy: 1.) This property is not suitable for guests with mobility issues due to the many flights of stairs 2.) In the winter, guests should have 4WD for getting into and out of the driveway - it becomes very slick with ice/snow and the snowbanks build up due to the snowplows 3.) The Cabin uses well water, so it has a water softener. However, if guests are sensitive to hard water, we recommend bringing bottled water for drinking. 4.) The upstairs bedroom is a loft. Because of the home`s layout, it can be noisy if other guests below are not taking care to be quiet. No wearing shoes in the house Quiet hours outside from 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM Children must be accompanied by an adult when outside Don`t dispose of feminine products in toilet Don`t dispose of food garbage or coffee grounds in the drain Don`t leave trash outside; it will attract animals Turn off lights, appliances, and water when you leave No illegal substances allowed on premises No glass containers outside No pets No smoking on premises

My two little boys and I planned a trip to Traverse City over their spring break. The Hygge Cabin was a perfect jump off point for all of our excursions. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!!
Very pleasant cabin. Well equipped with everything you will need. The cabin and area was very quiet. Good location between TC, dunes, and beaches.

Enjoyed the cabin very much. The kittcould use some more utensils. The bed in the first floor is a bit small for two adults. I did enjoy the front deck. The location was great to explore the Traverse City area. Don’t know if I will make it back to the area but would consider staying here again. Host was great with communication.
Loved the cabin! Lots of stairs, but the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding area were well worth it. It's a shame we weren't able to try the barrel sauna due to the weather. Chris was also a friendly, communicative host.
The location was beautiful and the house was the perfect place to appreciate the beauty of the forest. We loved spending time out on the porches and made great use of the sauna. The kitchen was well organized and stocked and the bathrooms were clean.
Unique log cabin in a secluded very peaceful setting. The patio was a lovely space to spend the evenings. Beds and linens were cozy :)
Coffee bar was a nice touch.
Sooooo many stairs but this was made clear in the listing. We were pleased with our stay. Thank you!
Absolutely loved my stay here. I think that says it all! Would absolutely stay again. Perfect solo, couple, or small group, it has amazing decks, amazing log structure, cool layout, spiral stairs, fun nature, uplifting art and style (hygge!) claw tub, good shower, well maintained, great location between the really Big Pond and Traverse City, easy check in process, cloistered in a tree enclave, muffled and few car passerbys (you are above st level here yet close to st) It really has a nature lovers vibe, its super peaceful and private and host Chris checks in but is totally non-invasive in the experience. Lets you completely enjoy the house by yourselves. You need to be fit or be ready to leave more fit because its alot of stair walking. (but not too much) Loved it! Thankyou Chris, Until next time, Peace! Leela :)
Born and raised in Traverse City, I've recently moved back to the area to focus full time on my STR property management business. While most guests won't meet me in person, please know I'm only a phone call away should you need recommendations, have questions, or have other feedback.
On a personal note, I'm married to my lovely wife Megan and we've got a toddler named Sammy and an infant named Noah, both are absolute delights! We love being parents, and there's no better place to raise a family than Northern Michigan...
Additionally, I have all sorts of various hobbies and am a seasoned traveler (+30 countries so far...) so I can give you all sorts of travel advice for Asia and elsewhere. So far, my favorite places were: Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
As a host and vacation rental manager, I have tried to make my spaces in Northern Michigan into places you’ll enjoy! You can count on me to be available at all times to assist in answering your questions!
Why they chose this property
Why did we buy this property? Easy. It's a beautiful, up-to-date, log cabin built into the side of a hill in a heavily wooded area; it's like sleeping in a tree fort! We fell in love with it the first time we laid eyes on it and have been blessed with the opportunity to both enjoy it ourselves, but also to be able to share it with guests like you.
Additionally, we've been hosting for a long time and have done our best to think of every detail to make your visit as memorable and comfortable as possible. Plus, we recently added a wood fired barrel sauna to help make your trip more hygge than ever before!
What makes this property unique
The Hygge Up North Cabin is centered around the Danish cultural concept of 'hygge' which essentially means: "cozy, comfortable, and welcoming".
While we aren't Nordic, let alone Danish, we fell in love with the concept and have been including it in our daily lives since 2018 when we bought the Cabin, and we want to share it with you.
Throughout your stay, we welcome you to read any of the hygge based books around the home, enjoy the cozy blankets, coffee bar, enjoy the sunrise on from the deck, get your sweat on in the sauna, and just be at peace in general :)
