Experience Serenity in a Charming Stone Cottage on the Lake
Welcome to Magnolia Trace, your year-round getaway nestled in the heart of nature's beauty! This enchanting stone cottage on FIVE acres offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, promising an unforgettable escape for families, friends, or couples seeking relaxation and adventure alike. Follow us on Instagram: @SmithLakeMagnoliaTrace
Location: Located on the tranquil shores of Lewis Smith Lake (Crooked Creek) in Alabama, our cottage provides breathtaking views of crystal-clear waters and surrounding woodlands from each room. The cottage’s name comes from the beautiful big leaf magnolia trees (Magnolia macrophylla) that dot the property. These trees have the largest simple leaf of all native North American plants. The oblong leaves can reach over two feet long and one foot wide. They're bright green on top and silvery beneath, and their size makes them perfect for casting shade and catching the wind.
Just one hour from Birmingham, and two and a half hours from Nashville, you'll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle, yet conveniently close to local attractions and activities. Our cottage is on a dead end street and has a huge paved circular driveway. We have a 240 plug for EV charging right at the front door if you need to charge a car, bike or golf cart!
Accommodation: Access to the cottage is through keypad code on both doors. Magnolia Trace is completely renovated and comfortably sleeps 8 guests across 3 bedrooms, each uniquely designed to reflect the cottage's heritage. The cottage has a king-size bed in Bedroom 1, a queen-size bed in Bedroom 2, and 4 twin beds (one is a trundle) in the bunk room. Each bedroom and the living room open onto the huge 800 square foot screened porch. Bright skylights also illuminate each room except the primary bedroom.
Just outside the master bedroom is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water!
The living room includes a table for four plus four barstools, and the screened porch ping pong table seats eight.
We provide a starter kit for s’mores, bath towels, bed linens, bath shower gel and shampoo, hand and kitchen soap, beach towels, paper towels, and Keurig pods.
Enjoy the crackling of the fireplace in the spacious living room, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. The fully equipped kitchen with a huge island invites you to prepare delicious meals using local produce, or fire up the Komodo Joe barbecue grill for lakeside dining under the stars.
Outdoor Delights: Regardless of the season, our lakefront home offers endless outdoor adventures. In the warmer months, indulge in swimming, kayaking, or excellent fishing from the private dock. Explore nearby hiking trails that wind through lush forests, or simply relax on the porch or dock with your favorite book. Enjoy cozy evenings spent around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories.
Our home includes four kayaks and a canoe (eight life vests included) as well as fishing gear! The swim pier is seasonal, but water is always flowing from upstream. There are no steps to the water, just a gentle paved driveway toward the water. Below the cottage there is a huge 800+ plus feet area of shoreline to explore with flat areas for disc golf, bocce, cornhole, and football!
Nearby Attractions: For those eager to explore, Cullman boasts charming shops, local eateries, and cultural sites that capture the essence of the region. Visit WildWater Cullman for a taste of adventure, or venture out to fly fish near the dam. See links on our Instagram page.
