About this property
Coveside Waterfront Secluded Cottage on Seal Cove
NOTE: we will refund one hundred dollars (in cash when you arrive) if you bring your own towels and linens.
People who stay with us comment on the peace and beauty of the place. Some relax on the porch and listen to the wind in the trees. Others spend their days out on walks in the area, or go for drives around the beautiful peninsulas of mid-coast Maine.
The 1962 L.C. Andrews log cabin has been remodeled with a new kitchen and additional bedroom. There is a large living room/great room for reading, talking, and relaxing. We have purposely avoided bringing in cable or TV so you can enjoy the nature around you. For those who just can't get too far away, we have wifi and even an Amazon Echo Dot. You can walk to water's edge in seconds, and put your kayaks in for a paddle around the Cove or out to the Damariscotta River.
Both bedrooms have a queen bed, closet, and bureau. The great room has two sofas, soft chairs, and a dining area for six. The bathroom has a full tub and shower.
Seal Cove is teeming with wildlife and you'll have a great view of the seals and waterfowl from the bench in front of the cabin.
Most of our guests have been returning for years (which may be why we don't have a lot of reviews!). It is a very special place.

About the host
Hosted by Gordon

Sheila and Gordon live in Santa Barbara, California for 7 months a year, and in South Bristol for 5. Their grown daughters live in California but come to South Bristol every summer. Now they are accompanied by our four grandchildren, so three generations of our family enjoy the area.
Gordon has retired after 31 years as EVP at Yardi, a software company in Santa Barbara, CA; Sheila is an artist who sells her work in Damariscotta, just a few miles from the cabin.
We've been married since 1976, have been living in the same house since 1979, and have had the property in Maine (next door to the cabin) since 1991. While change is good, good things don't have to change.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the South Bristol area quite by accident. We were on our way home from a vacation on North Haven Island when we turned off Hwy 1 at Damariscotta. Three months later we owned the property on Pine Bluff Lane and have spent some time there every summer.
What makes this property unique
What we love most about the area is that it provides peace and quiet when you want it, and yet there is plenty to do all around. Whether hiking (or walking on the trails nearby), fishing, boating, kayaking, or shopping and visiting the many restaurants nearby, there's something for everyone.
