The house is very clean and the host was very helpful and responsive. The views right outside are beautiful, and it is only a relatively short walk to the nearest town. We loved it here!
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful place. The kitchen was well-stocked and had the space and all the tools we needed to cook our meals. The location is perfect, on the quiet side of the island but across the street from a pebble beach and only a half mile to the cute town of Southwest Harbor, with a grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, art galleries, gift shops and a bakery. It’s an easy drive to some amazing hikes. Perfect for a couple’s getaway!
Lovely little apartment on the side of the house. Very cozy and inviting, and it had what we needed for our trip to Mount Desert Island. My s/o appreciated having the pull-out couch option downstairs with his balance issues and the narrow, steep stairs were hard for him after hiking all day. It was easy on/off access to everywhere we wanted to go, which was all over the island! Even with it being a main road through town, I did not find it affected my sleep or privacy at all. Great little spot for resting, would recommend again!
Our stay in Southwest Harbor was perfect, the apartment had everything we needed and was very conveniently located. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and we loved the shower! I look forward to booking this place again.
Pros: The property was exceedingly clean. The decor was fresh and modern. The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of utensils, mugs, bowls, plates, etc. A few important basics were provided such as a fresh sponge, salt & pepper, paper towels, coffee filters, toilet paper, tissues, detergent, shower soap. There were plenty of blankets.Cons: The stairs to the bedroom upstairs are very steep and narrow (about a 91/2” rise and a 7 1/2” run). The bathroom is downstairs so the steep staircase is challenging for people who have to get up at night to use the toilet. The bathroom is at the end of the kitchen. There is a toilet and a lovely shower but no sink. You need to use the kitchen sink to brush your teeth and wash your face and hands. There is no outlet in the bathroom and none in the kitchen near the bathroom door so if you want to dry your hair and use the 3/4 length mirror in the bathroom you need to stand at the other end of the kitchen. This doesn’t seem like the most sanitary arrangement. I took the hairdryer upstairs and used the mirror in the bedroom. There is no closet. Since I was there for a semi-formal wedding this was a challenge. I hung my dress on one of the four pegs by the front door. There is no disposal and the trash cans are in the bathroom and the living room - neither is a good place for food waste. A bin under the sink would help. The ceiling in the bedroom has a narrow section that is not slanted - tall people beware (I’m only 5’4”)
