Everything was exactly as listed - and communication with the host was excellent! The views were awesome, as it is only a few yards to the water. If you stay here, try to build in some time on the lake - unfortunately, our family and reunion commitments prevented us from doing so.

The ad doesn't do the property justice. Immaculately kept up. Included everything you would ever need. Even stocked with snacks. Went for a little peace and quiet and a little fishing. Got plenty of both. Great surroundings, and quiet, even with the watersports activities.

Our family of six had a wonderful time. The kids (6, 9, 10, 15) had such a great time swimming in the lake, we could barely get them out of the water to eat and sleep! Sandy bottom and very shallow, perfect for kids. Everything we needed was here and the neighbors were so welcoming. After the first day, the kids were asking if we could come back again next summer. I don't know if we can wait that long!

Cute little home in a great spot. Hosts were great with contact and made the weekend a breeze. Coziness of the home felt like we were at grandma and grandpa’s for the weekend and just what we needed! Highly recommend for the views of the lake and location. Planning to be back for our next Notre Dame game!

We had an amazing time. Beautiful views. Shallow water for my grand kids to splash around in. Kids loved the kayaks. Got to watch hummingbirds feed and butterflies around the beautiful flowers as you walk up the sidewalk. Yard was a nice size for the kids to play. we rented a pontoon that we were able to keep at the dock. Bedrooms were spacious. And absolutely loved the kitchen with island and table. I could stand at that kitchen window doing dishes everyday. The best part though was the owners. They were so kind, responsive and helpful. They thought of everything to make our stay wonderful. Thank you so much and I hope to come back next year.

Family vacation

We enjoyed our family vacation at this cute little cottage right on the lake. There were beautiful sunsets and shallow water perfect for our kids to enjoy. There are plenty of places to eat in the area, they also provide kitchen necessities if you wanted to cook at the cottage. Great communication from the hosts and everything went perfect! Thank you!!

Everything was as described. From check in to check out. We had a few question prior to booking, that were answered promptly. And we had a problem with a door while we were there and it was taken care of that day. Cottage had everything we needed. Lake was good for our grandkids and fishing was good for the fisherman. Very good people to rent from. Thank you again for making our stay good.

We had a wonderful overall stay at this cozy lakeside cottage. The location was absolutely beautiful, and the peaceful lake views made for a relaxing getaway. Even though it rained all day Saturday during our visit, we still enjoyed our time and appreciated the charm of the older cottage. The hosts were wonderful throughout our stay. They checked in to make sure everything was going well, communicated clearly, and even gave us a heads-up about a bee issue they had been dealing with. It honestly wasn't a big deal to us, but we appreciated their honesty and thoughtfulness. They were very kind and made us feel welcome.There were just a few things that could be improved to make future stays even better. The beds were a bit uncomfortable and quite squeaky, and the bedrooms had a noticeable musty smell. The shower/tub was very small, and the floor of it felt like it was bending underfoot, which made it feel a little unsafe. The coffee maker was a Keurig, which isn't something we use, and unfortunately it appeared to need a thorough cleaning before use.None of these things ruined our trip, and they are all relatively minor compared to the wonderful location and relaxing atmosphere. With a few updates and a little extra attention to these details, this cottage could be an even better place to stay. We had a great time overall, enjoyed exploring the area, and would definitely consider staying again for the peaceful setting, beautiful lake views, and welcoming community.

This was the perfect spot for a family get together for the Fourth of July. Becky and Bufford are wonderful hosts, thinking of absolutely everything.The lakefront was amazing and we had a wonderful view of the fireworks. The kids loved playing in the lake.The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need or want! I would recommend 4GetMeKnot to anyone looking for a cute, clean, and seamless experience.The house was extremely clean and well cared for. The check-in process was seamless and The instructions for checking out were very concise.I’ll be back for sure!!

I am Santa Bufford on Facebook and my wife Becky is Mrs Claus. We enjoy making our own Maple Syrup and a token bottle is provided for your visit. Becky and I first met in high school back in 1972 and this cottage is where she lived. Her mom passed, on Christmas Eve 2023, and her favorite flower was Forget Me Not's, thus the name of our cottage, 4GetMeKnot. We raised 4 boys whom are all married and we have 6 grandchildren. We are both retired now, Becky was an RN for 47 years and I worked for a local company, Adams Remco, for 42 years. We host because grandma wanted to keep the cottage in the family and we wanted to share the quite and simple lake life for other people to enjoy.
While we love having our Vrbo guests, please note this is also our family lake house and there will be a pontoon parked at the pier. Our family in town comes to use it from time to time, including access to the garage only. Rest assured, they will not disrupt your stay. We have them use the north side of the yard at all times to get on and off the pontoon. This pontoon is not for use, but we have several kayaks that you may use. There is however, space for another boat if you wish to bring one.

Why they chose this property

4GetMeKnot is on a dead-end street on the east side of the big Simonton lake, therefore it is very quite with minimal traffic. Everyone who lives here pretty much knows each other, so don't be surprised when people wave at you. Friendly is our motto.

What makes this property unique

We are one of the original cottages on Simonton Lake. Built in 1941, it has that laid-back cottage feel to it. With a large tree on the south side and two big maples on the west/southwest, the beautiful shade provides very comfortable living conditions in the cottage and on the front porch deck. The front yard to the sandy beach gets plenty of sun for the sunbathers and yard games. We also have a pier for those that want to bring a boat or pontoon. The east side of the lake, where we are, is the most desired area because it is shallow enough for children to play and with a sandy bottom. It is shallow for a long way out, therefore the passing boats stay out farther which creates less waves and fewer bouncing boats. Yet it is deep enough to dock boats to our pier.
