We stay at a lot of different VRBO rentals. By far, this one has been one of our favorites. Beautiful home, amazing view with a sunset in the evenings. Has all the necessities needed and more. We truly enjoyed our time here and can’t wait to go back. John and Kathy
We had a wonderful stay. The property is the perfect location to go to Mackinaw Island, Charlevoix, Petosky, and the Upper Peninsula. It had everything we needed. It was one of the best vacations our family has had. The private beach area is perfect for kids. The porches were fabulous for morning coffee and evening sunsets. Thank you for sharing your property with us!
Once again we were blessed to stay in this great house with a beautiful sandy Lake Michigan beach to swim each morning and watch glorious sunsets every evening
House has all you need and only 5 miles from
Mackinaw City.
The house was set up nicely with the bedrooms close together which helped with the children sleeping in a different place. The house was very clean and neat. The convience of being able to walk down to the water from the house was very nice. There were plenty of hiking trails around that we visited every day on our trip and found lots of sea shells along the lake shore. The only bad part was all the mosquitoes- bug spray is a must! But was a great trip and we would definitely stay there again!
This was our 5th year, we really like the location as it is right next to the state park and the beach is very quiet. The lake is shallow for quite a distance and the bottom is sandy as well as the beach. It’s kind of the best of the both worlds, remote but not far from downtown Mackinaw city. The house is perfect for our family, there are usually only five of us that but we have housed eight a couple of the years for a few days. The living area and kitchen/dining room are very spacious. Kristen has all the supplies there that you would need for preparing meals. There is room in any of the bedrooms to put a pack and play.
House was in a great location for all things near Macinaw City, the bridge and Macinaw Island. The sunsets on the shore were spectacular. Landlord was a pleasure to interact with.
Really enjoyed our time at this beautiful lake house. Plenty of room for our family of 4 and two little ones. Nice big yard for the little ones to play. Beach is perfect for kids. Shallow for quite a ways out. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything, Kristen!
We really enjoyed the property and honestly found that the puctures on the site didnt do the home justice. It was so beautiful and peaceful, plus, just a hop-skip-jump to many wonderful activities. The owner was easy to get ahold of and very friendly!
This is the fourth year that we have stayed In this home. We find it very roomy, even the bedrooms are really good size. This week there were five of us for half the week and then three more for the second half. The family room and kitchen are very spacious and lots of seating. The beach is pure sand and stays shallow quite a distance out. It is perfect for the entire family.
We have been staying at this home for several years. Each year we look forward to the time. Place is very clean, location and beach are wonderful. Nice sandy beach with no rocks. The owner is very helpful. Always responding back to me quickly if I have any issues. We look forward to our visit next year.
This is the third summer we have rented this home and we have it reserved for next year. The location is excellent, easy to get to mackinaw city, the UP, Cheboygan, and the Petoskey area. The home has a large open living room/dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is well stocked. The beach is very sandy and shallow, great for kids! Kristen is an excellent host.

Perfect place for our family vacation. Beautiful view every morning and perfect sunset every night!
We truly enjoyed our stay. The beach was sandy and water great! The home was fully equipped with all we needed. Spent every morning gathered around the island watching my brother-in-law cook bacon. We had 4 couples so one couple slept in the living room pull out and said it was very comfortable. The owner is very nice and accommodating. We realized they had artesian well in the front yard with perfect cold drinking water! We walked to the Headlands Dark Park, visited Mackinaw Island and the guys golfed at the Mackinaw City golf course. Great trip!!!
Thanks for sharing your home with us. We will be back!

About the host

We live in Indiana, but our family has vacationed in Michigan for over 10 years. We love the beautiful, clear summer days and the crisp, cool nights. For us, there is no place that compares to Northern Michigan!
Why they chose this property
The summers here are perfect with warm days (minus the humidity) and cooler nights. After vacationing/renting in Northern Michigan for many years, we began searching for a home to buy. On our third summer vacationing/renting in the Mackinac area, a friend invited us to spend the day at their home on Wilderness Park Trail. We were hooked and just waited for the perfect home to become available in this area.
What makes this property unique
Our home is located in Wilderness State Park, which is just around the point from the Mackinaw Bridge. This protected bay area with shallow water makes our beaches sandy and helps the water warm more than the deeper, colder waters of Lake Michigan.
Our boys can play and walk out quite a distance before the water gets deep (a little piece of mind). Also, it is amazing that the lake can be so still at certain times of the day/year. We’ve seen it look like glass before — just beautiful! Who would have thought you could see calm water like that on Lake Michigan! It is also breathtaking to see such different colors of the water. It is as if you are on the ocean with the levels of pretty blues in contrast with the white sandy beach.
The yard is also of value to us, as our boys love to get out, wrestle, play football, swim and explore. The house offers us the opportunity to be quiet and thoughtful, play outside or be at the movies in 10 minutes.
It fits our needs wonderfully with the soft, sandy shore, clear shallow water, friendly neighbors, and the convenience to town with the feeling of being far removed.
