About this property
Mountain Air Cabin near Franklin, Cashiers and Highlands, North Carolina
Adorable & freshly renovated cabin located in a private wooded community between Highlands and Franklin in the Nantahala National Forest. Our light & airy cabin is nestled on almost 4 acres of woodsy, mountainous terrain and is private and picturesque, yet still convenient to town. We love relaxing on the front porch, surrounded by nature and enjoying the sounds and views from the front porch. It is a peaceful cabin to relax & enjoy the cool breezes and scenery of the Smoky Mountains.
The home was recently updated with all new comfortable memory foam beds & a mix of new furniture and vintage treasures from the local antique shops. It has an open layout that fits 4 guests comfortably. We also enjoy sitting on the front porch swing with a beverage or roasting some marshmallows by the fire-pit and enjoying the mountain views and scenery.
The nicely equipped kitchen features a fridge with an ice maker, microwave, oven, coffee maker (drip and Keurig) pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware are all included. We also provide a gas grill for outdoor BBQs, just keep in mind sometimes the tank may require filling.
Our cabin is conveniently located in between three tourist friendly areas: Franklin, Highlands (10 miles) and the Cashiers and Lake Glenville area (8 miles). In the area, there are over 15 waterfalls, including the 200-foot cascading Cullasaja Falls and above that is Dry Falls, a powerful 65-foot waterfall that you can walk under. Enjoy picturesque, open views of the mountains at Wayah Bald, Pickens Nose & Sunset rock. We do provide complimentary internet, but due to the mountainous region it can be spotty or slow at times. I wouldn’t book if you’re looking for a place to work.
We also recommend renting a pontoon boat and spending the day at the nearby Lake Glenville. Kids (and adults!) love gem mining for local gems such as rubies & garnet, trout fishing, hiking the Appalachian Trail and cooling off in the swimming holes. This area is also a popular spot for antique shopping, fly fishing, and great locally owned restaurants and breweries.

About the host
Hosted by Chrissy Trujillo
I am a graphic designer / photographer who lives with my husband and son in a small coastal town in Florida and spends the summers and fall in the Franklin and Highlands, North Carolina area visiting our family and enjoying the seasons.
Why they chose this property
We chose this area because I have family that lives nearby who we visit throughout the year. I've traveled throughout most of North Carolina, and I love how in this area of Western North Carolina is not over crowded and built up. It's a great area to come and see the seasons change and enjoy hiking, waterfalls and the beautiful landscape.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with the wide front porch perfect for a porch swing and enjoying the mountain view. The large rock fireplace was another feature we loved, it's so nice and cozy during the winter. The overall feeling of privacy & safety in the neighborhood was another great feature. The 4 acres of wooded land surrounding the property is so peaceful and relaxing. We also enjoy hiking around the neighborhood and exploring the forest and the streams.
