The location is about as good as you can get—quick walk to the beach, where you then can walk along the shoreline, which I did every day! Nice big kitchen, comfortable bed, plenty of towels.Jeff was a great host—very accommodating and accessible.

(New 3 way toaster, Expresso machine, new knives, knew latte cups, top of the line linen, toiletries, and a NEW hair dryers :-). Thank you for your grace and input. I really appreciate it. It is new and improved.
Great communication from Jeff! He was more than willing to help us with anything we needed during our stay! Location of the house was great - a block or two away from the beach, restaurants, and Moxi Museum! Beds and pillows were super comfy! Just keep in mind that the house is very old and is in need of some updates, which Jeff was honest about from the beginning!

Nataly, I appreciate it. The difficulty with the property is you are getting Ritz Carlton location,with less than RC amenities, but at incredibly reduced prices comparable to other properties. I have tried to price it incredibly fair with the right expectations. However, this week each will be fully furnished with brand new amenites (Cell phone chargers, new kitchen ware, new linen, expresso coffee pot, blenders, knives ect). The property is lovely with a great location. I know the owner has big plans to renovate so it should only get better. We had issues with the keys and the door handles which made entry and exit quite tricky. That should be resolved soon. Also the second story patio and garden were not as we expected, though again I think the owner has plans for that area as well. Overall a comfortable stay and the location is the best!

The house is very cute with tons of potential. The check in was a little tricky, but we got it figured out. The only complaint I had is that the coffee pot did not work. The owner did say he's replacing it but that didn't help us while we were there. Luckily there were tons of coffee shops walkable from the house. Great location! Would stay there again as the owner says he is doing a major renovation and upgrade.

This location is very convenient to all of the East Beach restaurants and the beach itself. The hosts were very helpful in trying to help us find keys, troubleshoot, etc. while they were away, they were still available via phone. They also supplied beach, chairs and towels, which was a great bonus for us. The wicker chairs on the front porch were our favorite hangout spot. Thank you for all that you did for us while we were there.
The home is beautiful and the host takes care that their guests are well accomodated. We stayed here the night before my wedding and it was a lovely place in a great area close to the beach and the courthouse. Definitely stay here when you visit Santa Barbara!
Chapala Gardens is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Santa Barbara. You can walk to many wonderful restaurants, cafes, and shops. The apartment is stocked with everything you need for a delightful stay.
Great location. We especially enjoyed spending quiet time on the front porch watching the hummingbirds. The house is so beautiful that many people walking by took photos of it! We would love to return. Many thanks to your housekeeper as she was most friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at 118 Chapala Garden. Sandy was great with communication and the place was absolutely amazing ... especially having access to the beautiful rooftop garden. Location was perfect ... close to everything!
Great location - only 2 blocks to the beach - and plenty of room for 2 people. Did not use the kitchen but it was more than adequately stocked with a large refrigerator.
We enjoyed our stay at the Santa Barbara beach house. The rooms are spacious and it is well equipped. I miss the comfy bed already. I loved the craftsman character that has been retained in the house. The host was very informative and quick to respond to any questions.
We had a wonderful visit to Santa Barbara and loved staying in Unit 1 of the Chapala Gardens! Every day we enjoyed coffee on the front porch and a glass of wine in the evening on the beautiful rooftop garden. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They quickly responded to any questions we had and it was a seamless experience. The kitchen is well maintained with everything you need to prepare a meal and the location is ideal for walking to the beach or to restaurants. We look forward to returning!

Beautiful house in convenient location. We didn’t need to use our car as everything is walkable. Parking is a bit of an issue as there is no private parking and there are restrictions for on-street parking at weekends and Wednesday mornings. The house is well equipped with everything you could need.

A short block to the beach, restaurants, Stearns Wharf and the Harbor, plus a wonderful rooftop garden, made it the perfect, charming place to stay. The hosts are available and amiable which makes it even nicer.
Great location, Great host. Great time. Stayed for 3 weeks, we returned our rental car after a couple days and walked or biked for 2 weeks. One block from the train station, one block to beach, three blocks to center of town. Wonderful restaurants and bars within easy walking distances. We had a great time exploring Santa Barbara.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Santa Barbara property. Nestled along Mission Creek, the home carries a historic charm that’s hard to find, and the bones of the house are truly special. The location is ideal—close to the beach and within easy reach of everything State Street and the Funk Zone have to offer, yet still peaceful and tucked away.There was a transition of ownership during our stay, and while things were initially a bit confusing with the previous owners, the new owner, Jeff, reached out right away and did everything he could to make the process smooth. His communication was clear and thoughtful, which we really appreciated.After our stay, Jeff followed up with us to ask about our experience, gather feedback, and talk through suggestions for improvements. I attended Westmont College and two of our kids attended as well. We love the community and beauty of Santa Barbara and we especially love the life time memories that West Beach has given to our family. My family also loves this area to train for their Ironman, Half Ironman and Marathon training. We love Los Banos pool and the cycling in this area.
Why they chose this property
West Beach is THE place to stay in SB for both beach and downtown access. Very few properties become available here. And with the City onslaught on Short-Term Rentals, ours is one of FEW authorized, legitimately permitted Vacation Rental units in SB !! We also have a 3 bedroom, 3 bath right around the corner (whith parking. If available and needed).
What makes this property unique
A rooftop is available for early morning and evening access. The historic building and charming unit are unique in Santa Barbara . The privacy offered by the backyard patio by Mission Creek is special. The access to everything Santa Barbara has to offer is amazing and our rooftop farm is supremely unique and special.
