Log Cabin Homestead in Wild Harmony Farm’s Permaculture Food Forest
Stay in the original homestead at Wild Harmony Farm and step back to a simpler time. This log cabin has been updated with modern conveniences but retains its rustic charm. It sits in our permaculture food forest, which is an acre of fruit trees and edible landscaping. Our pollinator garden attracts numerous birds, and there are miles of hiking trails accessible on our 475 acre property to explore. The yard is truly a birder’s paradise. The cabin features a queen size bed with memory foam mattress, a sofa, dresser, Roku television, air conditioning, and WiFi internet. It has a fully furnished eat-in kitchen and full bath with shower. The cabin also has a welcoming front porch with rockers. The small yard has boulders around a quartz fire pit so you can relax around a warm fire on cool evenings. While the cabin is approximately 50’ from the owner’s house, the front porch and yard retain a sense of privacy. Wild Harmony Farm may have employees tending the gardens weekdays, usually 9:00 to 5:00, and try to limit any noisier operations in mornings when we have guests.

The cabin at Wild Harmony was a gem tucked away in the mountains! The cabin itself had everything we needed and was lovely to stay in. The property was gorgeous and we did some hiking on the property as well and it was beautiful. Chris is a lovely host and he was very easy to communicate with. The driving instructions he gave to the cabin were spot on and helped me get there even after dark. My boyfriend and will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by Chris “Clover” Allen
Originally from New Orleans, I spent my career managing industrial construction projects and renovating historic homes. I have had a residence in Asheville since 2010, and in 2020 moved here full time. I now steward Wild Harmony Forest and Farm where we use permaculture and natural farming principles to restore forest health and produce food in our 1 acre aesthetic food forest, where we balance creating food and beauty simultaneously.
Why they chose this property
Marshall is a very diverse and accepting community. People value being good neighbors over all else. It reminds me of a simpler time where many types of people could live in a community and everyone helps out their neighbors when needed.
What makes this property unique
Wild Harmony is one of the larger tracts of private land in Madison County. We maintain over 8 miles of hiking trails, which allows for the exploration of Dan Payne Mountain’s many ecosystems, and allows people to get deep into the forest where the rest of civilization fades away. Only the sounds of nature remain when you are on our trails.
