The house is built in the middle of a 20.000 sqm property overlooking Lake Maggiore. A great view in a silent, reserved, exclusive place, with seasonal flowers and fruits, is the key for a relaxing holiday. There is a car park in a large private parking just 50m from the house. Enjoy your stay in this 2 floors, 3 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms property with a wonderful Veranda and a working Fireplace inside and a BBQ on the terrace outside. You can reach the house from Malpensa airport within 35km car drive. Linate Airport and the city of Milano are only 70km away. Wonderful Stresa with boat service to the Borromean Islands is only 8km away. A 18 holes Golf Course is less than 10 minutes away, while Belgirate village and the beach is just a 15 minutes walk in the woods or a 5 min. car drive. What else can you wish for? Just book your holiday now!


The Garden: The House is surrounded by 14.000 meters of private woods and garden. A gardener will keep the place clean for you while you enjoy its fruits and its flowers. You can get fresh fruit in the garden almost all the year round.You start in May with wild Asparagus and Morons, in June you have Raspberries and Cherries, in July Nuts and small Pears, Blackberries and Figs in August, Grapes in September and Chestnuts in October and November.

Beaches: In a hot sunny day the best way to spend the warmest hours is swimming in the Lake.
The water is fresh and a constant current keeps it clean in Belgirate.
If you like to meet other people you can choose the Public Beach which is located at the entrance of the village coming from Lesa.
If you like to stay on your own then I suggest you take Via della Masseria which starts few meters above the end of La Bargajana road. It is a little steep with 3 tight turnpikes but it is paved and takes you directly to the lake (by the way this is the fastest way to Stresa as well!). At the end of Via Masseria Park your car, cross the SS 33 (Sempione Statal Road) and you will see on your left an access to the beach. A big Oak Tree will provide all the shadow you need.
If you are looking for a sandy beach a nice alternative is 20 km north in Feriolo or just 2km south in Villa Lesa.

One Day Trips & Things to do: 3 suggestions for a 'One Day Trip':
A trip by Cable-Car from Stresa to Mottarone mountain top: wonderful view on the Alps and on the Lake. A Car ride to Orta S.Giulio passing thru Il Mottarone: after that v. nice view from Mottarone, you will find a peaceful out-of-it-all atmosphere in Orta S.Giulio. A trip by Boat visiting S.Caterina del Sasso (a nice Monastery in a breathtaking place), Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori (nice Restaurants), Stresa and then back to Belgirate!
Botanic Gardens. If you like gardening then you might be interested in visiting one of the numerous Botanic Gardens in Stresa, Verbania or Isola Madre.
Local Markets. Everyday from 9:00 to 13:00 you have a Local Markets in one of the villages near Belgirate. They might not be large but they are always worth a look! This year you have: Monday/Baveno, Tuesday/Arona, Wednesday/Luino & Sesto Calende, Thursday/Lesa, Friday/Stresa, and Saturday/Verbania.

Wat een prachtige plek! Mooie, verzorgde woning, die echt in orde en goed uitgerust is. Een terras met een onvergetelijk uitzicht. De weg naar boven is avontuurlijk, maar haalbaar. Inrijden deden we steeds door 100m verder te rijden en te draaien aan een zijstraatje, zodat we recht konden inrijden… Verwacht je aan een prachtige plek, te midden van een bos, boordevol leven… wij genoten van een jong gezin everzwijnen.

Ein Traum

Eine wunderbare Anlage. Hervoragend geeignet, um die Stille zu genießen. Für Großfamilien sehr zu empfehlen. Die Privatstraße ist zwar eine Herausforderung, aber keine Angst. Sie ist mit einem normalen Auto und Motorrad und von einem normalen Fahrer gut zu bewältigen. Das rauf- und runterfahren hat sogar richtig Spaß gemacht

Traumhafte Lage und Aussicht

Das Haus ist neu renoviert, hat 4 Schlafzimmer für jeweils 2 Personen und ein Schlafsofa im Wohnzimmer/Wintergarten mit Panaromafenster. Wir fanden mit 10 Personen ausreichend Platz (wobei das Schlafsofa nicht das aller bequemste ist - für Kinder eignet es sich super, allerdings kann man das Panoramafenster nicht verdunkeln. Es gibt 3 Toiletten und 2 Duschen, alles in Ordnung. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Es gibt drin genug Sitzplätze für 10 Personen und draußen einen Tisch für 6, man konnte aber einen kleinen Tisch von drin dazustellen. Die feste Grillstelle ist super. Natürlich gibt es auch Moskitos und Ameisen, die durchaus ihren Weg ins Haus finden, aber das Problem hat man ja überall, wo Natur um einen herum ist. Und Natur gibt es mehr als genug drumherum! Mitten im Wald gelegen mit abenteuerlicher Zufahrt, keine direkten Nachbarn, nur unverbauter Blick auf den Lago Maggiore, die Berge dahinter und viel grün ums Haus herum. Eine große Wiese vorm Haus gibt es auch. Im Ganzen ein wahnsinnig schönes Ferienziel, dass man uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen kann. Ach ja, der Bahnhof Belgirate liegt nur ca. 1 km entfernt und es gibt alle 2 Stunden Direktverbindungen nach Milano und Stresa. Der Fähranleger Belgirate wird auch mehrmals täglich angefahren.

Vue exceptionnelle et le calme séjour au top

Bien que l’accès à la propriété soit un peu compliqué ( ça grimpe) une fois arrivée c’est superbe, de l’espace verdoyant et propre et une vue superbe sur le lac majeur. La terrasse est bien aménagée les repas extérieurs sont agréables, la maison est bien entretenu et propre, linge de maison et de toilette impeccable . Nous étions 9 et au niveau du couchage et des repas pas de problème. Nous remercions pour l.accueil sympathique et petits cadeaux de bienvenue. La communication avec Stefano était agréable et il est présent rapidement pour toutes demandes. En conclusion je recommande vivement cette location .

Geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Haus in Alleinlage mit Seeblick

Stefano ist sehr hilfbereit und nett. Er spricht sehr gutes Englisch und die Kommunikation mit ihm lief reibungslos. Das Haus befindet sich auf einem großen Grundstück in Alleinlage in der Nähe des Örtchens Belgirate. Es ist sehr geschmackvoll und mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Neben einem großen Wohn-Esszimmer und Küchenbereich im Erdgeschoss, gibt es 4 Schlafzimmer, 2 Bäder und 3 WCs. Wir haben mit zwei Familien (9 Leute) genug Platz gehabt. Das Grundstück ist groß und schön, der Blick auf den See atemberaubend. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen und wir würden gerne wiederkommen.

Superbe villa avec une vue splendide sur le lac majeur

La villa est très belle. Les chambres sont spacieuses. La vue depuis le salon avec une grande baie vitrée est incroyable et mérite a elle seule cette location. Sdb très propres ... Jardin très grand, avec possibilité de départ de rando. Bon accueil, serviettes de toilette en nombre. La cuisine est un peu etroite Par contre l'accès n'est pas facile, ça grimpe tres très fort et il ne vaut mieux pas avoir une voiture trop basse et longue. Je recommande vivement cette location. Très bon rapport qualité / prix pour 2 familles a 4.

Ruhig, antike Ausstattung. Sehr schwerer Weg für die Autos

Sehr ruhiger Ort, sehr großes Grundstück: Für die Familien mit Kids und mit Hunden sehr empfehlenswert. Aufpassen: Mückenplage. Einzige wirksame Lösung: sich für die Nacht einkremen. Antike einfache landschaftliche Möblierung. Das hat uns gefallen. Nur Gaskochfeld ist auf die alte Weise (mit Streichholz) zu bedienen. Der Weg war für uns (mit zwei Autos) beim dritten Versuch mit ein paar Tricks zu schaffen. Tipps: Bei der ersten Abbigung von der großen Straße einen größeren Bogen gegen die Wand zu machen, dann Rückgang und wieder nach vorne, sonst schleift ihr den Boden des Autos. Bei der zweiten Abbigung mit Tempo oder Rückgang in den Wald und dann den Anlauf nehmen. Mit dem Müll war ein Rätsel: zwei Mal wurde unser Müll nicht abgeholt. Wir haben eine E-Mail an den Vermieter geschrieben.Bei den nächsten Terminen später wurde drei Mal von denselben Stelle abgeholt. Entschuldigt meine Fehler, ich bin nicht gebürtige Deutsche.

Nightmare owner and decent place if you dont mind being over run by ants.

SO... the owner. I am a travel writer for the major mags.. I was traveling by myself, and after asking three days for the owner to do something about the Ant infestation, a nest had moved into the house. He thought clearly it was not really a problem till his daughter finally came and they realized there was a HUGE problem. And finally set the ant traps as they crawled on me when I slept on the couch and that was the last straw. BUT be prepared to be treated like you are crazy for complaining. On the third day the broken dishwasher flooded and I had to sweep out the water of the whole place. Which he never actually ever did anything about. He tried to double charge me a cleaning fee. I sent him videos of the ants and the flooded floor and broken dishwasher. I actually had to call my Italian fiance to talk to him and get him to understand the severity of the ant issue when I had been bit in my sleep. He really just wants to rent his place to someone who just takes it as is. The location is stupendous, but the neighbors complained about my dog barking and even came onto the property in the morning when I was in my bathrobe claiming that the dog barked all day long and I was never home. Just know what you are getting into with this place. If you have no dogs, know the place is going to have spiders, and ants ( I think during our stay the infestation was taken care of) and you dont have to talk to the owner.

I also thank you beacuse your review gives me the opportunity to worn future guests on few facts: - La Bargajana is in the middle of nature... and nature, in the form of ants, spiders and lizards, might occasionally enter the house, despite our best efforts to keep them out; - The dishwasher drain is connected to the sink drain: to avoid water overflows, make sure you do not engorge the sink; - The house is isolated, and you will enjoy a lot of peace and privacy; but you still have neighbors and if your dog, left alone tied to a tree, barks disperately day and night they will come to see what happens. Having said that, I am very sorry you had such a negative experience of my personal support to you. This is the first time I receive such a negative feedback in 16 years, with more than 60 groups of guests from everywhere in the world, with HomeAway but this will not prevent me from doing my best to improve even further. Es war ein super Haus, sehr ruhig gelegen. Die Zufahrt zum Haus ist allerdings sehr abenteuerlich.

Wer die Alleinlage mitten im Wald schätzt, ist hier genau richtig. Der Blick auf den See ist wunderschön. Ameisen und Eidechsen sollten als Mitbewohner aber akzeptiert werden;).

Unfortunately to enjoy all of these you have to drive 300 mts on a private road (which is paved on the rough pieces) and accept tha ants and lizards might enter the house. Drei herrliche Wochen mit Kindern in einem wunderschönen Haus!

Wir sind mit 4 Kindern in La Bargajana gewesen - oft täuschen die Bilder und Beschreibungen in Anzeigen; hier wurden wir äußerst positiv überrascht: es ist wirklich ein sehr schön und ruhig gelegenes, geräumiges Haus mit allem was man braucht - inklusive spektakulärem Seeblick! Liegt abgeschieden und dennoch zentral, man erreicht viele Attraktionen in wenigen Autominuten. Wanderwege führen direkt am Haus los, wir haben einige nette Touren gemacht. Badestellen gibt es im Ort. Der Bahnhof ist fußläufig erreichbar. Das Grundstück ist super - gerade für Kinder oder einfach zum Relaxen... Die Zufahrt ist tatsächlich abenteuerlich - war aber mit unserem VW-Bus kein großes Problem. Wir haben uns vorher auf streetview informiert, wo die Privatstraße abgeht... Der Kontakt zu Vermieter und Verwalter war äußerst zuvorkommend. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Super schöne Lage

Die Anfahrt über die private Straße hat uns viele Nerven und eine Anhängerkupplung gekostet. Dafür wurden wir mit einem schönen Haus belohnt. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und wir haben alles, was wir brauchten, gefunden. Unsere Kinder haben sich sehr wohl gefühlt und gerne in dem riesigen Garten gespielt. Wir hatten einen tollen Urlaub und können das Haus nur weiter empfehlen, allerdings kommt man nicht mit jedem Auto die Straße ohne Probleme hoch.

Beautiful house, stunning views

We stayed in this house overlooking Lake Maggoire for our honeymoon. It was absolutely fantastic. The house is great, well kept, full of character and clean; the huge sliding window in the living room is particularly impressive, opening up half of the wall to the vista of the lake and the mountain air. The views and the sunsets are breathtaking. There are some great walks behind the house too: lovely woods with miles of stone trails connecting picturesque villages and ancient chapels. The owner and house keeper would really nice, too. We were greeted with a bottle of sparkling wine and a bowl of fruit and they were really helpful whenever we had a problem. I'd whole-heartedly recommend this property.

Peaceful and beautiful

The house has tremendous views of Lake Maggiore and the solitude was perfect for a honeymoon. We loved the chestnut wood with its waterfalls and rock pools. The kitchen was well-equipped for self-catering. Friendly welcome on arrival. Please note the climb to the house is very steep and not suitable for anyone infirm. For safety children should be supervised in surrounding land.

wonderful holiday

We all had a really wonderful time here. A quiet location, with the house is set high up on a hillside with a fantastic view of Lake Maggiore and the mountains beyond. A big garden with grill for those lovely warm evenings or an open fire in the living room for when not. We came here for a week of mountain biking (plenty of trails in the area) but also the usual holiday requirements and were not disappointed. The house has lots of character - we appreciated all the personal touches that the owner made. It really felt like being in the home of a friend - so high compliments indeed.

Traumhaus mit Traumblick

Wir, zwei Familien mit insgesamt 3 4jährigen Kindern, haben unseren Aufenthalt in La Bagajana sehr genossen! Das Haus zu finden war aufregend, sehr zu empfehlen ist ein Geländewagen! ;-) Im ernst: mit Sportwagen ist das Haus nicht zu erreichen! Die Villa ist toll: Die Fotos geben einen guten Eindruck dazu! Es hat uns an Ausstattung nichts gefehlt, allerdings war es nicht besonders sauber. Die drei Schlafräume waren wie folgt mit Betten ausgestattet: Zimmer 1: 1 schmales Doppelbett (wie beschrieben), Zimmer 2: ein Etagenbett ohne Fallschutz (wir haben die Betten nebeneinandergestellt;-)), Zimmer 3: ein Doppelbett (mit Besucherritze ;-)) In den Ort/ zum See hinab läuft man 15-20 Minuten, zurück nach oben entsprechend etwa 10 Minuten länger, für Kinder ist der Weg zu anstrengend! Für uns war die Villa traumhaft. Besonders die warmen Abende auf der Terrasse mit dem tollen Blick auf den Lago und bei Gewitter auf der Verandafensterbank werden uns in bester Erinnerung bleiben! Wir empfehlen das Haus naturverbundenen, ruheliebenden Menschen, mit Kindern/ Hunden und geländegängigen Autos!:)

Settings wonderful, house very comfortable. Fantastic garden, especially if you travel with a dog. Location great Kitchen / dining area great. What can be improved: -Cleanliness!!! When opening the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen, you quickly understand all ustencils, pots, pans, cups, plates cutlery need thorough cleaning before use. The bottom of the drawers and cabinets is never cleaned. - plenty of dust and spider webs everywhere - terrasse not 100 % clean (don't look under the mat) - Lack of wifi. These days, for such a house, wifi is not an option anymore. I am managing a B&B/hostel in Brussels. Internet access/WIFI is part of any modern traveller. I needed access for professional needs, and this caused me big big problems. - Airconditionning in the bedrooms would be more than welcome. This house heats up very fast. - lack of presence in English , capable of helping guests with specific questions about tourism, dining, access to activities, technical issues...etc....gives a very impersonal feeling. Owner is 'far" away. Meeting new guests when they arrive doesn't seem to be important.

La Bargajana is a cosy country cottage, surrounded by a large private property, isolated in the middle of nature. We deliberately want to keep it simple and natural: some shortcomings (like absence of WiFi connection or Airconditioning) will unfortunately come with it... Come for the comfortable house in a wonderful setting with a great view and you will get it!

Very pleasant holi

A very pleasant house in the nature with a fantastic view on the Lake ... Nice décoration and clean. Very well located to visit the region. Good équipement to cook. Claudius, who welcomes us was very nice. You aren t disturbed by the neighbors.... The end of the road to access to the house is not very easy ( rocks and very stiff). A additionnal bathroom would be perfect,if your are more than 4 people !, and please change the vaccum cleaner which is out of order ....You may also add a toaster. We keep a good memory of this house and of the area!

We try to improve La Bargajana every year with new works or piece of forniture, following advice from our guests. In 2012 we added a new vacuum cleaner, as suggested by our guest, and a new sofa bed in the veranda. More improvements will come as we move forward!

Beautiful atmosphere of La Bargajana

We were a group of 4 adults and 4 small children staying in La Bargajana in July 2010. The place was beautiful, especially the nice garden with beautiful flowers and a lake view. Great atmosphere to bbq during the evenings. Overall, the residence in highly recommended for a group of 6 to 8 people. The only downside was the steep private road (the last 300 m) but you'll get used to it relatively fast. Teemu from Helsinki, Finland

Tolle Ferien in großem Garten

Wir haben ein wunderschön gelegenes Anwesen vorgefunden, mit großen Zimmern, prima Ausstattung und herrlicher Aussicht. Alles war, wie beschrieben, nur der Anfahrtsweg ist etwas beschwerlich, weil es sich nicht um eine normale Fahrstraße sondern einen betonierten Waldweg mit großer Steigung handelt. Die Waschmaschine war älteren Jahrgangs aber funktionnierte einwandfrei, die Küche hatte genügend Besteck und Teller für 8 Personen. Man kann wunderschön draußen sitzen und grillen, wandern, der Wanderweg beginnt direkt hinter dem Haus, hat Ruhe und Erholung. Die nahe gelegenen Orte Lesa und Belgirate sind schnell zu erreichen und der Lago Maggiore ist mit dem PKW in wenigen Minuten angelangt. In der näheren Umgebund finden sich wunderschöne Urlaubsziele und für eine große Familie ist dieses Haus ideal. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war einwandfrei und vor Ort fanden wir sehr viele Informationen. Mailand und der Flughafen sind nur einen Katzensprung entfernt und zum Shoppen bot sich Arona an. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

Wonderful holiday at

We had a fantastic week in "La Bargajana" in July. The place itself is wonderfully calm and peaceful - perfect to relax. The property is spacious (even for our big company - 5 adult and 3 kids!), nice and well-maintained. I have to mention the working fireplace, we enjoyed it very much, even in warm summer evenings! We ate outside every day on our terrace and overlooked the view of the garden, green lawn as well as beautiful lake Maggiore. The location is perfect for having day trips in the area to the beautiful little towns like Stresa and picturesque Borromeo islands. There are several walking trails near the house, nice little waterfall and unspoiled nature. Supermarket is within an easy drive in the village of Belgirate. All in all, I would definitely recommend this property and its ideal location. We want to go back!

Why they chose this property

My husband Stefano inherited the house and the surrounding land in 1990 from his father. La Bargajana used to be the farm house of the family villa in Belgirate but it was abandoned since the early 70s. The renewal effort took around five years and since then La Bargajana became our weekend retreat and the place for short brakes all year round.

What makes this property unique

La Bargajana is a unique place, it is isolated in the middle of nature with a wonderful view of the lake. At La Bargajana you are close to everything you might want but you can totally relax yourself and enjoy silence and peace. It is a unique place and we are very happy to see that our guests agree with us!
