Fall wedding and valley revisit
Having owned and recently sold in the valley we were looking for a place to come back to from time to time. This was perfect for us having a dog whom we travel with, enjoying privacy, serenity and majesty. The property is actually a 2 bedroom house that is beautifully designed and outfitted. Nina and Jessie were perfect hosts along with their 4 beautiful dogs that integrated well with ours. We definitely have planned to go back. If you are looking for a home away from home with a very special and private sense of place, this is it.

Stunning views, friendly hosts.
Couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. Accommodations were very clean and very well appointed. In addition to the stunning views outside, we enjoy the art inside as well. If you’re looking for a place to relax and let the stress of urban life, melt away this is it.

About the host

Hosted by Nina Pedersen

Host profile image
Nina and Jess are creative outdoor people. Jess is an architect...Nina is a papermaker/bookkeeper....we both are hands on builders....we both teach skiing and are very involved parents. We have 2 kids, 3 dogs, 3 horses, 3 cats and lots of projects. We love our property and are happy to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

Before we had kids, we looked for a forever home, someplace where we could enjoy all of our passions, that had a restfulness and soul. We saw an ad in the paper and everything else stopped.....we knew the property and knew we wanted it. When we bought it, there were 2 cabins from the early 1900's, very rustic and old. Now the main home has a modern addition surrounding the original old cabin and the second cabin recently burned in an unexplained fire...hence this new cabin. We are surrounded by neighboring hay pastures, fields of sagebrush and 360 degree mountain views. We are always working on our property, gardening and making improvements. Seems the DIY style of living is our destiny.

What makes this property unique

We call this rental home 'The Cabin' as it replaced an old cow barn that had been modified to be a residential cabin before we bought the property. Missouri Heights can be windy in the spring so Jess designed this building to have no eaves on the west face, in corten steel. As you walk around the cabin, it changes to slats of cedar with gaps meant to resemble the original chinked log design. As the cedar ages, it will go driftwood grey. The interior layout is very similar to the original cabin, with a lofted bedroom over the kitchen area and an open-to-below view of the living room. The design is spare, simple and highly functional. For a small 2 bedroom cabin, everyone who walks in says 'I could live here!'
