Such a lovely cottage, we loved the open plan of downstairs. The kitchen isn't huge which was tricky doing Christmas dinner but we managed!Beds and bedding were really comfy, the water tower was great for my daughter and her partner. Great having sky tv, furnishings were comfy and the cottage had everything we needed.Fab communication throughout with the host.
This is a fabulous cottage which is very central to where we wanted to visit each day. Comfortable beds with quality bedding and pillows. It had all the amenities and had underfloor heating which gave the cottage a cosy warm atmosphere . I would recommend this place to any of my friends and whole to return soon
The accommodation is located in a beautiful little town and has everything your heart desires. It is very tastefully furnished, and we and our whole family felt very comfortable. It was also very quiet at night, and we were able to set off on many wonderful excursions from there. Many thanks to the owners; we felt well looked after at all times.
Caffrey's cottage was a delight and we're grateful to Mike for such helpful communication throughout. The property is very well appointed and offers access from the front door to main walking routes for the Slaughters and Naunton as well to Stow itself (a 25-30 minute walk and barely any distance in a car).
House was well appointed and set up. Few cobwebs around but generally clean.Sky should be updated for the Winter months when adults tend to stay in at night.Generally comfortable.Bathrooms could be updated with better fittings and cubicles rather than over the bath.
The cottage is beautiful and spacious. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and a large Tesco is about 8 minutes away. The beds are incredibly comfortable, a rarity in a rental property! The location is central to so many amazing sights. Excellent stay in the Cotswolds!
Well equipped cottage. Lovely downstairs living area. Great location right next to a footpath to Lower Slaughter. Only a mile from Stow but on a very quiet road.
We loved our trip to the Cotswolds and staying in this very homely and well equipped cottage. The village is very pretty and we enjoyed watching the England game in the local pub! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Super ruhigen Cottage, tolle Lage für viele Ausflüge
We spent a great week in the cottage. Mike was easily reachable, the cottage has all comfort needed, the village pub offers great food and there is only a 30 minutes walk to stow. Great spot to visit the Cotswolds!
Delighted with our stay. Our host had gone to a lot of trouble decorating for Christmas. The place was warm on arrival making it feel very welcoming. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. We had a wonderful Christmas at this property.
Great location, very central and very close to everything North and South Cotswolds. The property was amazing, Very roomy, very clean, everything you would need. If anything the pictures dont do the property justice, it was nicer and larger than we expected. Located in Lower Swell, which is a very quaint village but right down the street from Stow On The Wold for food, shopping, and pubs. Our host Mike was very responsive with directions, information about the location, and available if needed. When we return to the area in the future we look forward to staying at the cottage again.
The location suited our requirements, a quiet village within easy driving distances to numerous villages/towns in the Cotswolds.
The cottage interior is lovely, high class comfortable furniture and supplied with everything you could possibly need for a short holiday and most importantly perfectly clean.
We had a wonderful time staying at Caffrey’s Cottage. The location was perfect as our home base for our 4 day cycling tour through the nearby villages. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need for home cooked meals and the front and back garden were lovely. The only thing on arrival was we noticed some cobwebs and potato bugs on the floor that we had to vacuum up. Everything else was seamless. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m pleased you enjoyed the house and location and very much appreciate your positive comments. We always strive to give our guests the best possible level of facilities and service, however with the property being converted from an old farm building occasionally we do have the odd visitor appearing almost instantaneously! Once again many thanks for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Caffreys in the future.
We had a lovely stay in the barn, we had everything we needed, it was very clean apart from some stains on the bedding. The barn is in an ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds, we didn’t want to leave 😊

We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in lower Swell. We always like to contact guests after arrival to ensure everything is as it should be, so we are surprised any issue with the bed linen was not raised with us. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and quality of the facilities and service and we would hope any issues would be raised in the future in order for same to be immediately rectified.
Great central location for exploring the Cotswolds
Listing is very accurate - lots of space, was clean, kitchen was well appointed. Given the warm temperatures during our July stay, we definitely appreciated that fans were available - a nice touch. Note the washing machine is in the water tower building and the dryer is in the garage - not a problem, but it does necessitate going outdoors do to laundry. The Golden Ball is a few minutes walk away and a decent pub - The Porch House in Stow-on-Wold was very nice as well. A tour of the Cotswolds Distillery was a high point of our stay, just a 30 minute drive. This rental in Lower Swell was well positioned to take advantage of the many nice walking trails in the Cotswolds.

About the host
Hosted by Mike Newton
I live near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, the so called "Gateway to the Peaks" but I have always loved travelling to the Cotswolds for long weekend breaks and holidays. I felt the time was right back in 2016 to purchase my own country bolthole in the area and be able to explore even more of this beautiful part of the country.
Why they chose this property
From the moment I first walked into Caffreys Cottage, I immediately felt at home and the feeling of space generated by the open plan ground floor was inherent from that moment. The Cottage has the benefit of all modern facilities but also has the character features that I was looking for.
What makes this property unique
I believe that the Cottage is a real home from home, is bright and airy in the summer but also cosy and snug in the colder months. Furnished beautifully, comfort has not been compromised and the location is perfect to take full advantage of all that the Cotswolds has to offer.
