Lovely property, much bigger inside than it looks from outside. Situated perfectly near the centre.Make sure you're fit if you choose to sleep on the top floor! Two lots of steep stairs. Bedrooms really spacious and bright with comfy beds. Large kitchen with plenty of space.
Lovely house in great location - had everything you needed in the kitchen and property even including a colection of crabbing buckets and nets that the children loved. Staithes itself is beautiful and a real hidden gem - the house could not be in a more central location.
We had a fabulous time away in this gorgeous house in beautiful Staithes. Big enough for two families with Kids and dogs. Perfect stroll to the beach, nearby walks and lovely pubs!
We have stayed many many times in staithes over the years in various cottages but Ravenscraig totally spoilt us and all the family now only want this cottage
An idyllic village setting, the kids couldn’t have been happier with the distance to the harbour where they spent most of their time rock pooling and messing about in the sea. The dogs were also big fans of the fact that the property was only a stones throw away from the beach. It was a bit of a hike up the hill to park the car every day but we were made aware of that before we booked so knew what we were letting ourselves in for! A few issues with cleanliness when we first arrived (had to wash a few things up out of the cupboard, floors were not the cleanest and the top floor shower was blocked!) but overall an excellent place to holiday and would not think twice about staying here again!
Upon arrival my husband immediately said “it looks rough”, as soon as we opened the front door, it became obvious the property was in an unacceptable condition. The walls, doors and ceilings throughout were dirty and looked as though they had not been decorated for a very long time. There was peeling paintwork everywhere and a strong, musty smell. As we walked through the house, the floors were sticky underfoot, from a lack of proper cleaning over an extended period and the carpets were filthy. In the kitchen, the fridge was dirty, and there was grime and dirt on all the cupboard doors. All the radiators throughout were full of dust and dirt. When we lifted the sofas to retrieve my daughter’s toys, we found old rubbish, old sweets, large amounts of dust, dirt, and hair. It was absolutely disgusting and clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time. I walked barefoot on the first day and the dirt on my feet was so bad I struggled to clean it off afterwards. The stair carpet was black with dirt and looked as though it had never been cleaned. The cottage is listed as recently refurbished - maybe 20 years ago.Exposed stonework around the broken extractor and a broken toilet seat in the main bathroom with mould and mildew in both bathrooms. Under the beds was a thick build-up of dirt and hair, clearly accumulated over many months if not years. The yard was filthy, bird waste everywhere that my husband has to clean.I would not recommend it’s filthy.
Fabulous property in the centre of Staithes which was comfortable and well equipped.

I would certainly recommend this property!
The location of the property was perfect and we checked in fine. The house could have been a little cleaner and there were a few small issues, no light working in the ensuite bathroom (we looked at the spare bulbs - none fitted). The shower in the middle bathroom leaked over the side of the bath - we kept a towel there but maybe one to note. Other than these small issues the house was just what we needed to accommodate the family group and have a lovely holiday.
We had a great week in Staithes, the property is as described, clean and spacious. Well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. The lower terrace could do with a bit of a spruce up but the upper one is lovely and comfy and offers great views and sun of an evening, if you're lucky enough to get good weather! The dropping off and loading bay outside is great and although it can get very busy, especially on changeover days, we never had an issue and there is a quick turn over so just keep your eyes peeled. We used the Glenvale parking at the top of the road and found it friendly and easy to book. Lots of great walking from the door, rock pooling at low tide and even swimming in the if you fancy. We recommend the Fox and Hounds pub in Dalehouse - very good beer (and scones!)
Great location in the centre of Staithes. Had some issue with parking, one area £6 per day another £10 and need to top up in time to avoid hefty fine. Lovely inside the house, modern kitchen. Although outdoor yard could do with a bit of maintenance we made the most of the sunshine and the views sitting out there until the sun went down. We walked to Runswick Bay one day and caught the bus to Whitby another, very handy. A lovely relaxing break.
House was perfect for four adults for a week at Christmas, with Christmas tree, wine and chocolates to welcome us. Warm, comfortable and spacious, apart from the living room which would be a bit of a squeeze for a larger group.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Property excellent. Parking and communication difficult.
Cleanliness, furnishings, size, cost and location are all excellent. Parking was difficult and expensive and communication mediocre with owner and difficult with HomeAway. HomeAway also bombarded me and one of my guests with an endless stream of advertising emails.
We had a good stay in Ravenscraig, a bit fitter? after climbing the steep stairs!!
We paid to park In Glen Vale car park which saved walking all the way to the public car park and a place was assured.
Had a great time , cottage great in a lovely place

Spacious family house in a great location
We loved our stay in this house for three nights. The town itself has some great pubs and cafes but there are tons of places to visit locally. Ideal location!

Beautiful property in a fantastic location
Just back from a mini break with our 4 children, the property was perfect for us lovely and spacious and great facilities including strong WiFi, which gave the adults a little piece and quiet when needed, we did have a little issue when one of the children got locked in the toilet but only indicative of an old property with old doors and locks and a quick nip over the the Beautiful sweet shop across the road had them all smiling in no time. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back and stay again.

Beautiful accommodation in wonderful Staithes.
This cottage has everything you could possibly need and is beautifully decorated. Modern enough that it caters for all of your needs but rustic enough that it oozes charm; perfect for its surroundings. Close to everything in the old village, easy walking distance to the Royal George and also the Cod and Lobster, both of which are very welcoming and accommodating pubs. You must sample the food in the Cod and Lobster if you visit. The bedrooms are incredibly spacious, we had 7 people in the house and at no point were we on top of each other. The kitchen is large and well equipped and leads into a beautiful rear garden overlooking the stream behind; the views are wonderful. We didn’t get to use the balcony due to the cold weather but I can imagine that it’s fantastic in the Summer months. We had such a lovely stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return, we would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone, whether you are a first timer or a regular in Staithes.

Lovely weekend, home beautifully restored
Great time with family, 3 generations all happy with our stay. Quaint little fishing village that has retained its character.
Only one thing to consider is that the village is at the bottom of a very steep hill that only allows parking for unloading so not so easy to nip out if you forget anything.
However, there is a lovely tea rooms and sweet shop, local pub is child and dog friendly with good food.
A lovely quiet village.

Beautiful property and location.
We had a lovely week in Staithes. This prioerty is really nice and in a great spot. Only a few minor criticisms - it could do with another sofa in the lounge as it sleeps seven but only enough room for four to sit comfortably. Also the main bathroom shower leaks water everywhere. However, on the whole we had a great week, visited the two pubs in the village which are really nice. The children loved the beech and we did a 6.5 mile walk over the hills to Runswick Bay. Would like to come back another time.

Christmas Break
Three generations of our family had a lovely week in this well equipped house, everything we needed in a beautiful part of the world.
Beware if you book an online Tesco grocery order as our driver refused to bring the van down the hill so wouldn't deliver to the door, we had to walk and meet him at the car park at the top of the village, an inconvenience, but it didn't spoil our holiday.
