Light filled home from home with spectacular panoramic sea views of Mounts Bay
Trevilley is a light and airy detached house enjoying spectacular panoramic sea views over Mount's Bay and St Michael's Mount. Situated in the picturesque village of Mousehole, the house is a two minute stroll from the harbour with its two sandy beaches, shallow waters, varied boutiques, a pub and excellent restaurants and cafes.
Trevilley, which sleeps 6 people (or 8 from May to October with 2 extra guests in the summer house), is ideal as a romantic getaway, for walkers (the Cornish South West Coast path goes straight past the front door), surfers, those who just want to wind down (it's impossible not to relax here) and it's perfect for families - the house is fully equipped will all the bits needed for young children (travel cot, toddler pillows, duvets and bedding (infant sleeping bags are not provided), 2 travel high chairs, kids’ cutlery and crockery, stick blender, large washer/dryer etc). Even on a dull day, the house is filled with light due to its east facing position, combined with large windows that make the most of the extraordinary views.
In the winter months, it's the perfect place to put on your walking boots and discover Cornish land and seascapes (the walk from the house along the coast to Lamorna is stunning), soothe those aching limbs in the Jacuzzi bath and then get cosy with a glass of something next to the roaring open fire. The view remains beautiful whatever the weather and you can feel yourself unwind just watching the sea roll in. Dolphins are seen regularly from the house and a humpback whale was also spotted breaching in the bay!
Christmas and New Year is a particularly special time of year. The wonderful annual switching on of the Mousehole lights really gets you into the festive spirit with mulled wine, a local brass band playing Christmas carols alongside the Mousehole male voice choir. Tom Bawcock night on 23 December is also special - the Ship Inn serves up the legendary starry-gazy pie to all visitors and children release lanterns into the harbour.
From May to October a charming summer house, sleeping an extra 2 people, is also available at £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house at the time of booking).
Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at Trevilley. There is an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay for this. We kindly ask that dogs remain downstairs - they are not permitted on the beds.
There is free street parking on Raginnis Hill or if there is no space, South Quay car park charges £10 per day for parking.
The details...
A large entrance porch provides ample space to store beach bags, wellies and coats. This leads to a spacious well equipped kitchen crafted by a local artisan from reclaimed wood. It leads into a utility room with a large washer/dryer, indoor and outdoor clothes horse and iron.
From here another, door leads into a stylish wet room (an ideal place to have a shower after a day on the beach or to hang your wetsuit) and a downstairs toilet.
The kitchen also leads directly into the dining room, a light filled space with beautiful local art work and stunning sea views. It comfortably seats eight in colourful chairs set around an old sea captain's wooden table. If you are lucky enough to be seated at the head of the table, you will have direct views onto St Clement’s Island.
In front of the dining room and the adjacent sitting room lies a spectacular and spacious sea viewing room with extraordinary panoramic views of the Lizard, St. Michael's Mount, the village, the harbour and St.Clement's Island. This is the ideal place to relax with a coffee, a good book or simply be mesmerised by the ever changing colours of the sea and sky.
A south facing door leads onto a covered decking area with a big glass table and chairs, a perfect place to have breakfast on a sunny morning and perhaps spot some seals, basking-sharks or dolphins. In recent months, we have also seen humpback whales breaching in the bay.
Through another set of double doors from the conservatory you enter the cosy sitting room with its big open fire place, comfy leather sofa and chairs and its quirky furniture made from our decommissioned wooden fishing boat.
An open staircase leads from here to the first floor. The sea-facing master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with two basins and a whirlpool bath and a toilet. The comfortable kingsize double bed promises a restful night with its crisp linen and luxurious bedding. There are two bedside tables with drawers and a small wardrobe. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the bay and the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Bliss!
The other sea-facing room has twin beds, a large basin, one bedside table with drawers and a chest of drawers. From these rooms the view of the sunrise over the Lizard and the sound of the sea breaking over St. Clements Island remind you on waking that you are in beautiful Cornwall.
The third bedroom houses adult-size bunk beds a bedside table with drawers and storage under the bunks. A travel cot is available to use along with sheets (infant pillows/duvets/sleeping bags are not provided). All bedrooms have adequate space for a travel cot. The master bedroom can accommodate two travel cots (if, like us, you are lucky enough to have twins!).
Between the twin and bunk room there is another bathroom with a bath and stand up shower and toilet.
The Summer House Also enjoying splendid views, the summer house is ideal for teenagers or maybe grandparents who like to enjoy a little independence.
It consists of a large living space, sofa, table and chairs, a kitchenette made out of reclaimed wood from fishing vessels, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. A separate bedroom contains a shaker double bed and small wardrobe with an en suite shower room, toilet and basin. The summer house is an additional £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house on booking).
Garden Trevilley is surrounded by a large garden consisting of several sheltered sitting areas, all enjoying sublime views. There are many colourful shrubs and bushes with something in bloom throughout the year. Please also help yourself to the fresh herb garden and use the compost bin for vegetable food waste.
There is a built-in granite BBQ, a shed where beach items can be stored and for the literary inclined lines of poetry carved into the slate paving stones.
Parking Free parking is possible on Raginnis Hill but it does get busy during peak season and it may not always be possible to find a spot during the school holidays. Alternatively, there is Mousehole harbour parking on the south and the north quays for £10 per day or at the Old Coastguard hotel for £11 per day (pay via Just Park parking app).

Thank you for your lovely review Ian. I am glad that you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed those spectacular views.
We really love the location and the spaciousness of the property. There is also a very useful supply of kitchen utensils and household consumables. Will book for next year without hesitation.
We’ve been in Trevilley for the 4th time - best location ever for relaxed holidays.
The house has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, is tastefully decorated overlooking the bay with all amenities close by.
Mousehole is a very picturesque little village. We‘ll be back !

We loved the space and light in this cottage and the location. There were useful supplies left for us too like logs, laundry capsules, milk, tea. But it’s the views across St Clements & St Michael’s Mount that make this house very special.
This property is absolutely lovely, my family and I had a weeks break here and were sad to leave. The house is incredible and the views amazing. We regularly saw seals and even dolphins on our last day. The house is well equipped and within easy walking distance to local amenities. We already look forward to staying again.

Thank you for your lovely review Adrian. I'm so glad that you saw the seals and dolphins - it's so special to be able to see them from the house. My parents were there last week and they saw a humpback whale breaching just beyond the island while they were enjoying their morning coffee in the conservatory. Incredible! Becca
Best place in Cornwall for a perfect holiday at the seaside
We've been at Trevilley for the 4th time and it's just wonderful! Mousehole is a most beautiful village which offers all you need with good restaurants and a nice pub. At Trevilley the feeling is like being on a ship overlooking Penzance bay with St. Michael's mount and St. Clement's Isle. The house has a very unique atmosphere and breathes the ocean ... "If I rise on the wings of the dawn, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea ..." (Psalm 139)
The view is amazing! The house is really homely and we felt so relaxed during our stay. Everything we could possibly need was there facility wise. We didn't use the outside space, as it rained for most of our stay - not that this bothered us at all - but everything indoors was perfect for our needs. Comfy bed. Lovely shower. nice kitchen. All ace for us! Parking can be a bit tricky, but we got a spot OK and then walked or got the bus everywhere - very chilled time in Mousehole! We'll be back for sure. x

Yes the view really makes the holiday so special. Thank you for your lovely review and see you next time!
A lovely traditional family home with views over the bay. Well equipped and lots of living space. The conservatory area is lovely especially on a sunny day. Parking is a challenge in Mousehole but we were always able to find somewhere for our car. Even if in the harbour car park it’s only £5 for 24 hours. Thank you to the host

Lovely property
Spent most of our time in the sun room because of the beautiful view. Gorgeous property just needs a bit of attention. Wet room floods. Side lights not working in the kitchen. Living room quite dark and lamps not working. Some floorboards

Hi Kelly. Thanks for your review and I really appreciate your feedback. We have fixed the wet room flooding and sorted the other bits that you raised. I'm glad you enjoyed the gorgeous view. Thanks again, Becca
We did have another wonderful week in Mousehole. Even my 2 grown up boys, 18 and 21, came with us, because we all just love the place. Mousehole is a lovely village, but especially Trevilley is a very welcoming place with a warm and cosy feeling as soon as you enter the house. I could sit all day outside, watching the tides and St. Clement island, listening to the seagulls and the seals, it’s so relaxing! I still hear the the waves rolling on the beach…. We‘re looking very much forward to our stay in February, as we both love stormy weather at the seaside, maybe because we‘re from the middle of Bavaria with the sea far away. Thank you for having us again and for sharing Trevilley with us!

Thank you for your amazing review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the house and Mousehole.
We were 6 adults and one young child - everyone thought it was a great place for a holiday. Mousehole is one off the most picturesque villages on Cornwall and the house, we think, probably has some of the best views of any property in the village. It's particularly nice being a few minutes walk from the harbour beaches. The house was particularly well stocked with useful items for the kitchen and the beds were very comfortable. We've rented a house in Cornwall in August for the family for several years and this was one of the best. The only slight downside, and it's more about Mousehole than the house, but parking can be difficult to find near the house (outside or in the harbour car parks) - but don't let that put you off staying.
We had a perfect stay in this lovely house. The views are simply spectacular. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and the beds are comfortable. Mousehole is an amazing spot to be. We enjoyed our walks into the harbor, on the southwest coastal path and some short drives to nearby beaches. Only slight negative is the sometimes challenging car parking in peak seasons.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house in Mousehole, with its spacious accommodation and beautiful sea views. Its location is ideal for exploring the lizard point area of Cornwall and its beautiful coves. We ate at No.2 Fore Street and wow, that is some seriously delicious food!!
House is truly beautiful, with stunning panoramic views looking over the town & sea. It’s big & light and has everything one needs with a big conservatory, lovely to sit in if the weather turns to just observe outside. Lovely mature garden set over 3 levels with table/chairs to enable outdoor eating too.
Beds are very comfortable. We only used 2 of the 3 bedrooms.
Everything you need is there from loads of crockery, glasses, to spices, plus coffee machine. Cooking is easy in the spacious kitchen with a big porch which is so useful to put coats/boots etc.
Our son proposed to his girlfriend whilst there making it even more special.
Only downside is it is tricky parking there and if you’re lucky might find a space on the hill.
Beautiful home to spend new year in with our friends. The house is wonderful and the views are spectacular. We will definitely be back and would recommend highly. Becca responded very quickly to any queries and the pre check in info was much appreciated.
This was our second trip to Trevilley and what a treat it is. The views make the house so special and feel like a home away from home. This was a trip that had been rearranged umpteen times due to lockdown and it was wonderful to finally get there. Becca's communication was excellent at every step, and our stay was superb.
We had a wonderful week here. It was a lovely place to stay and the views from the house are spectacular. The summer house is great for getting the extra room. Mousehole is beautiful, with lovely cafes and restaurants. Given the covid situation, it was also not that busy. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

About the host
Hosted by Becca
Hi there! I'm Becca and I have had the pleasure of letting out Trevilley for almost 20 years. I love the peace and tranquility and the fabulous views - our repeat visitors think so too! It is also a very special place for our 3 children who visit regularly and who have helped us make sure that it is well equipped for young families (see photo of them all devouring their daily chocolate ice-cream from Jessie's Dairy). It is certainly the place for magical childhood holiday memories and we hope that you love it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
Mousehole is a picture perfect holiday village and everything you need is on your doorstep. From the house you can walk to the beach, the brilliant deli, the pub, art galleries, jewellery shops, a silver craftsman, 2 fantastic restaurants and many other gift stores, cafes and ice cream outlets.
What makes this property unique
Quite simply, Trevilley is so special because of the sea views. The photos don't do it justice but you will read on the reviews that the panoramic view of the Bay, St. Michael's Mount and in the distance The Lizard are what makes this house really exceptional.
