Cabin #2 - "Kitch-iti-kipi" Kitch-iti-kipi (KITCH-i-tee-KI-pee) means "big cold water". This 202 sq ft cabin is named after Michigan's largest natural spring in Schoolcraft County. A popular destination for guests who stay here at Lakeside Cabins.
This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the late 1920's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and air conditioning wasn’t even thought of at that time. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.
All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.
This one room cabin is 202 sq ft and sleeps 2 people in the queen size bed which adjoins the kitchen and dinette. The bathroom is simple, the shower is warm and the kitchen has everything to cover your basic needs. The spacious 10’x7' enclosed porch overlooks the water. A perfect area to enjoy a quiet evening watching the loons. The cabin has 1 electrical outlet near the bed and other electrical outlets minimally located throughout the cabin.
Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.

This was the cutest cabin. We absolutely loved it. Very cozy and comfortable and the VIEW just cant be beat. We are definitely going to be coming back.
This is a cute little one room cabin for 2 with a porch. We enjoyed relaxing and listening to the waves in the evening. As well as sitting on the porch with a warm cup of coffee in the morning watching the sunrise.

We were disappointed in the cabin. It is close to the lake and a good view.
Cozy for two and yet the screened in porch overlooking the lake made it feel spacious. Amenities were as or better than advertised. Had a wonderful time. Host was excellent. Recommend!!
Cozy, comfy room. Had everything we needed and then some. What-to-bring list needs to be updated; we brought some things that we didn't need. My friend especially loved the antique glass soap dispenser in bathroom. Great sunrise view!
Love the view of the lake. Cabin was perfect small and cozy perfect for a couple. I loved that we could bring our dog. Meet some great people. I would definitely go back!!
Charming cabins at the lakefront with my own dock and picnic table did not disappoint. I quite enjoyed this set of cabins s I needed a small overnight for two. Pets are welcome which is a big bonus. When you travel with your dog.
These cabins are exactly as advertised. Such a nice little getaway spot. Super close to lots of wonderful activities. Mackinac City/island, Wilderness State park, etc. It is definitely the perfect little base camp to use while exploring the area!
We had a phenomenal stay! The cabin was so cute and clean and had a wonderful view of the lake! The owner Ritchie was such an amazing guy to work with and is an incredible host! He went out of his way to make sure we had the perfect time there! Will be coming back to stay there for sure!!
I’d love to come back with my family occupying the adjoining cabins because they’re so intimately spaced. So serene and beautiful.

About the host

Born and raised in Northern Michigan, I’ve worked with the special needs community for over 30 years. By recently purchasing a little 7 cabin lakefront resort, I was able to transition my career to incorporate my love for camping, outdoor activity, and local history in a way I can share with others. I offer vacation rentals of vintage rustic lakeside cabins that were established in 1929. I welcome guests who love the camping experience while venturing to the Mackinac area historic sites, adventurers who come to enjoy outdoor activities, or those who are simply here to relax and enjoy the area’s natural beauty.
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with this property because it encompasses the style of vintage cabins from days gone by, back when times were simpler. The cabins offer the nostalgic feel of the camping experience I remember enjoying as a child.
