Lost Branch on the Lake

Enjoy all of the amenities of home in this secluded home sitting lake front on Sand Run Lake in the gated community of Old Timberline.  Walk out the door to the lake or jump on the trail for a relaxed hike with plenty of scenery through the conservancy bordering the lake.  While there is plenty to do without ever leaving sight of the house, like kayaking, canoeing, fishing or just sitting on the large deck enjoying the picturesque views, you can also venture out on numerous hikes in the valley, skiing at nearby Canaan Valley, a trip to Seneca Rocks, or the majestic views that only Spruce Knob can provide.  At the end of the day you can soak in the hot tub while star gazing or enjoy a crackling fire in the stone fireplace.  And the big kids and the little kids will enjoy the game room!  If you’re looking for peace and tranquility this is the perfect place.

OLD TIMBERLINE - 



A private, gated community located in beautiful Canaan Valley. You have access to both Spruce Island Lake and Sand Run Lake in Timberline to canoe and fish at (swimming prohibited by the HOA) and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.







You will be staying in a private, gated community. Please have a list of everyone that will be staying in the house (first & last names) and vehicle information. A guard house form will be given to you at check-in for you to put the information on that you will give to the guards.

Lost Branch on the lake was a great place for two families to converge from separate states. We reconnected with nature and each other, enjoying kayaking and canoeing, fishing, and watching the wildlife from the expansive deck. The "nightlife" was highlighted by a lake-view hot tub, cool evening temperatures and the gift of millions of stars. This was definitely a location that made us all appreciate the beauty of nature.It was a relatively short trip to Davis, and Blackwater Falls State Park, where the waterfalls did not disappoint.

It takes a little longer to reach Davis from this deep in Old Timberline than some other places in Canaan Valley, so may not be perfect for everyone if being closer to Davis and Thomas is important to you. But if you want to be near the little lake and have a view of it, while still fairly close to Timberline Mountain, this is a wonderful place for family groups. They were very helpful and responsive

10 minute drive into Timberline development & questionable value for money

Cons: With service fees etc, cost over $1000 per night between Christmas and New Years. Driveway is very long and downhill to the house. Kitchen drawers and some cabinets were extremely overfilled and cluttered. Downstairs bathroom was clean but smelled bad, emanated to whole downstairs. Things like carpet, kitchen pans, some light fixtures were worn / wonky. Pros Hand, dish, and laundry soap included; paper towels, toilet paper too. Plenty of extra towels available. Fireplace was nice and worked well. Grill worked well. Hot tub worked well and was nice and warm. There were games - air hockey & foosball- downstairs. Beautiful natural setting.

Our stay was great. The kitchen was well supplied. The living room and deck were our favorite parts of the house. It was well laid out and fit our needs perfectly.The view of Sand Run was great. No problems, check in and check out were a breeze. the only thing I would suggest is to send the form for the Old Timberline guardhouse out with the contract so that it can be filled out before you get up to Canaan.

Actually, this property MORE THAN met our expectations! This property is so much more than what is listed on your website! the views, the layout of the floorplan for our 3 generations of family, the adirondack chairs on the deck and the WELL-STOCKED kitchen!!! I packed WAY more than I would have needed to....this kitchen has EVERYTHING!!! More than what I have at home!! oh, and the hot tub and outdoor fire pit were awesome too! Everyone loved having the wifi available too! Great service!
