3 Bedroom Detached Bungalow With Fabulous Views In Every Direction
Sitting in the foothills of Croagh Patrick and overlooking Clew bay, Gortmore is a 3 bedroom detached bungalow with fabulous views in every direction. Completed in 1999 the bungalow is modern, well planned, bright, airy and spacious. Sitting on its own site it is not overlooked and has direct access to the main Westport-Loiusburgh road. The property is located in Murrisk village which is 6 kms from Westport, a town identified by the Irish Times in 2012 as "the best place to live in Ireland". Our guests have been families looking for safe friendly accommodation, active walkers, golfers, fishermen, cyclists, and artists as well as those simply looking for peace, tranquil views and relaxation.

Lovely holiday home, everything you need.Well equiped kitchen, nice extras,TBags, cleaning equipment, all you need for a self catering holiday.Beautiful viewsRestauant within walking distance, close to Westport, lovely town.Would definitely recomend.Good communication with owner.
Lovely Irish home on a hill. The kitchen is well equipped with one problem in that there are 2 fry pans that need to be replaced as they are very scratched and the teflon is chipping which is a health problem. I did not use them. Large kitchen and dining area. The master bedroom is large and the bed is comfortable -also has a nice small ensuite. The other 2 bedrooms have twin beds but may be suited better for children as I had adults in there and they did complain that the beds were lumpy and hard to sleep in. The property manager is very responsive and ready to help with any issues. The house sits on a very high hill with a long driveway. The views are spectacular with sheep in the neighboring field that provide a pleasant Irish feel. We love travel to Murrisk every year to visit family and found it to be the quintessential Irish village. The home is lovely for a family.

Hi susan. Very pleased you enjoyed the bungalow. Its setting and views are fantastic, I agree. I wish you had said to me when I asked if there was anything you needed or could be done that you were not happy with the frying pans. It would have been so easy to sort that out while you were there. I will check the mattresses in the twin bedrooms when I am next over. They are all quite new. I regularly use one of the twin bedded rooms and I have found that mattress to be absolutely fine. I am pleased you found the en-suite good. It is new this year and it has been made to be level access which I think will be very suitable for some of our visitors. Best wishes, Mary
The house was positioned between 2 National parks and many other "Brown sign" adventures. We spent 2 weeks hiking and enjoying the beauty of the surrounding area. The house was super co.fortable and we hated to leave. Our host and her helpers went beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. We would whole heartedly recommend this propert.

Hi Andreas, I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your time at the bungalow. The views are pretty good! you will be very welcome to return. Mary
Lovely bungalow in splendid location with amazing views. Lovely area for a walk or run in the morning with lots of roads of the main road. Within walking distance of Croagh Patrick and whilst on the main road no noise or other impact of traffic. Would recommend as a base for travelling around
This is a lovely property with spectacular views from every window - we loved sitting in the living room watching the sunsets over Clew Bay. The cottage is 15mins walk from the start of the Croagh Patrick hike and 10mins from a lovely gastro pub. The cottage is well stocked and very comfortable, it set back from the road so it is very private and quiet.

It is lovely to have the bungalow and its views appreciated. So pleased to have this review Jane. Thanks
Great location - quiet, beautiful, close to Westport
The house is clean and comfortable, with a nice kitchen and lovely views. The property manager checked in by text several times to make sure things were OK. You can walk to the Croagh Patrick trail which is a challenge but well worth the climb if you like to hike.
Very comfortable, lots of room for everyone. Kitchen is well equipped and all the rooms are well furnished. Well located for nearby walks and access to nearby Westport. Loved the views of Croag Patrick at the back (when not covered in cloud!) and the bay at the front. I'd definitely book again as there are so many nearby places to visit we didn't manage to get to them all :)
We wanted a house with views of Ireland, close to Westport and other places we wanted to see. This was perfect. Mary is a great hostess. Throughout the rental process and while on site, she was readily responsive, informative and flexible. We loved the house! I love the floorplan. It worked so well for my husband, daughter and her two daughters. We love the area, with so much to see and do. What an amazing place to visit! The Mayo (and especially Westport) is a Gem. Mary's house is a perfect stay.
We are very happy about the location.

3n nice bedrooms
wonderfull view on the bay with croagh Patrik just behind.

Hi Marco. Really pleased you enjoyed staying in Gortmore and from our discussions you really got out and explored Mayo. Well done!Mary
We stayed a week but wished we could have stayed longer. Its a lovely property, with stunning views and is very peaceful yet it is only 10 minutes to the centre of Westport. Murrisk has a fabulous pub which is within a few minutes walk. The property is incredibly well stocked with everything you could possibly need and is very comfortably furnished and very clean. Mary was very helpful throughout. It is a house that we would like to come back to.

Hi I am so pleased you had such a good time and that my bungalow achieved all of your expectations. Thanks very much.
Fantastic property in an ideal location to explore county Mayo. We will hopefully be returning for a third time later this year. The house has everything you need for a holiday and there are stunning views from every window. The local gastro pub is within walking distance, as is the foot of Croagh Patrick. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks Mary.

Hi Patricia, So pleased you enjoyed our first two visits to the bungalow. I am very proud of those views especially if you get a calm sea and mirror reflecions. I try to have every thing just right in the bungalow and if there is anything to be sorted whilst you are there, Tom is the right person for that. I hope visit 3 goes as well. Thanks Mary
This is our second time staying at Mary's lovely property in Gortmore.
The house suited our needs perfectly. It is well stocked with basic essentials, very clean, spacious and has fabulous views of the beautiful surrounding area from every room.
Check in was very straightforward.
It provides the perfect base for exploring Westport and surrounding areas, and proximity to nearby beaches and walks is fabulous.
We are already looking forward to our next visit. Míle Buíochas.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Clark
I designed and built Gortmore in 1999 and try to visit as much as possible as I have strong family ties in Murrisk and love the countryside but I live in Leeds for most of the year.
Why they chose this property
My family come from Murrisk and although I was brought up in Northern Ireland, I find County Mayo such a beautiful county. I chose the site because of the wonderful views over Clew Bay from the Living Room, bedroom and kitchen. The dining room has a great view of the pilgrimage mountain, Croagh Patrick. The bungalow was designed to be very light and airy.
It is just off the main Westport- Lousisburgh Road so no-one has difficuly finding it. At the same time it is completely private on its own elevated site.
What makes this property unique
All my visitors are very impressed with the views and with the kitchen. Sometimes they arrive at night and waken up to a complete mirror imagine reflection of nearby Murrisknabol in Clew Bay.
On the practical side the kitchen has every modern convenience and it is spacious so that on a big occasion several people can cook at once.
The living room is really the quiet room, but does contain the modern TV with Free Sat.
Wireless Internet is the most recent addition enabling me to keep in touch with family back in Leeds.
