Cozy two bedroom log cabin on the Chena River near town.
One bedroom has a queen size bed, the other two twins. There is also a carpeted attached garage that gives additional space and has a double bed. You actually enter the house through the garage so, except for the door that makes it handy to bring in luggage, you wouldn't know it's a garage.
It sits on a three and a half acre lot right next to the cabin with the addition that we have used for VRBO for the past two years. The original owner built what is now our home for them and this cabin for his folks in the 1950’s. We have lived here for 50 years and find it a special place.

Location was perfect to see everything we wanted in Fairbanks. All the beds were cozy. Host was quick to respond. Plenty of space for our family of 4 adults.
We were a party of 3 adults and were here pre tour/cruise. We needed a place where we could come and go to see the lights and a place where we could have breakfast in and just enjoy being in Fairbanks. The cabin was wonderful. Nothing fancy but everything we needed. The weather was rainy but the view from the front of the cabin was wonderful. Looking out at the peace of the river, especially first thing in the morning.
Location and setting were great with large windows overlooking the Chena river. Restaurants were a short drive away. Full well stocked kitchen with snacks and breakfast items. Washer and dryer. Although the cabin was comfortable, some items were well worn and could stand to be upgraded and the cabin itself would benefit from a thorough cleaning.
Very quiet, relaxing location. Large windows give view of the activity on the river. Watched a beautiful fox come through the grassy area right outside the window.
Easy access to grocery stores and eateries.
Cabin is rustic but has all necessities plus more: bathroom, shower, appliances, blackout shades, WiFi. Lots of history in the cabin about the host family. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect Alaskan cabin with the convenience of town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bob and Mardee’s cabin. It was the perfect lodging for our visit to Fairbanks. With the picture windows overlooking the Chena River, moose ambling through the yard, and the hearty log construction, it is a quintessential Alaska cabin with a perfect location to launch any adventure in the Alaskan interior.
It is a ten minute drive to the airport, walking distance to the University and a great coffee shop.
The cabin is homey and comfortable. Bob and Mardee are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It was nice to find the fridge and cupboards stocked with condiments and cooking basics. Furniture and bedding are comfortable after a long day of adventuring. All the windows have black out shades which helps during the long summer days.
We would definitely choose to stay here again when we visit Fairbanks in the future.
This is a cozy, old-fashioned log cabin with a million dollar view of the Chena River. It was the perfect spot for us to come home to after our daily adventures.
We loved this cozy 1950s log cottage. Views of the river were great from the living room and the back yard. Very quiet and peaceful. Nice location for visiting the Fairbanks area. Our only complaint: The owner got her dates mixed up, so the house wasn't cleaned and ready for us when we arrived - it really needed a deep cleaning/dusting too, overall.
Mardee's place was very comfortable. She provides a lot of extras in the kitchen. We were able to enjoy a batch of brownies! The home is very comfortable and we felt right at home.
We visited Fairbanks during the time in summer when sunlight is 24/7. The cabin is clean, spacious, comfortable and has huge windows. Fairbanks is amazing. Owners are wonderful. The Interior of Alaska is incredible. There was so much to see and do. Riverboat Cruise and Local Village Tour was exceptional. Everybody finds gold in their pan in the Gold Dredge 8 Historic Train Tour. During the Local Village Tour you can pet the dogs. There's a live demo of dog mushing. Ask them about their TX-sized polar bears. There was a determined, patient, genuine kindness wherever we went. The non-stop sunlight takes the notion of jet lag to a whole new level but we liked it and that's why we went there in the first place. Thank you so much!

We started doing VRBO in this house this spring. Have been doing it next door for two years and love it. We did bed and breakfast here many years ago but found it confining. Now that w e are older and can't do so many things it is perfect.
Bob was drafted out of a GP residency at Sacramento County Hospital in 1962 and sent to Bassett Hospital on Ft. Wainwright. We epaid our own way up because we didn't want to stay longer than 18 months. He soon extended so we could get base housing and continued to extend until they told him he had to get out of the army or transfer to another base.
At that point we rented a little house on 5 acres near our present house and moved everything in our riverboat. They would move is back to Oregon, our home of residency within a year. We never left.
The lady that owned our present house came by to collect money for a neighbor that did the snow plowing. Later they went to California so their daughter could get braces and asked if we'd like to rent their bigger house. We did. We
