About this property

Curlew, Brancaster, Norfolk

This hidden gem is in a quiet but convenient location. Curlew is very spacious and practical for families and those looking to explore the coast around Brancaster and beyond.

Curlew is a bright, comfortable and practical home, which offers relaxed modern accommodation tucked away in a quiet corner of the very popular coastal village of Brancaster. The home overlooks fields to the rear and has an enclosed garden with decked area opening from the garden room, making it a wonderful safe family space, with dogs welcome too.

With a good sized living area it includes a reception room with squashy sofas, feature fireplace and television with Freeview. The well-equipped kitchen also has a sofa as well as a double oven and large American style fridge freezer – ideal for large group catering. On the ground floor you'll also find the master bedroom with a super-king size bed and en-suite with bath and shower. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms, one double, one twin and a bunk bed with larger bunk beneath. All have good quality mattresses and linens. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over and double wash basins. Tastefully decorated with nautical theme throughout, this adds to the character of this hidden gem.

Curlew makes a great base from which to explore the stunning North Norfolk coast. Quietly located in a cul-de-sac, parking is a real bonus in this popular village, and it's just a short walk to the pub and village centre, or a longer walk or short drive to the beach. There's a very regular bus service along the coast road so you can walk for miles from your door, or just relax in the quiet garden watching the winter geese fly over or enjoying a summer barbecue. Brancaster Stores and Post Office houses a brilliant deli and coffee shop, as well as stocking plenty of every day goods. Brancaster Village Hall hosts Bar 71 where good times, drinks, friends and fun are served. It is the social heart of Brancaster village offering a licensed, family friendly bar with the cheapest drinks along the coast, and a calendar of monthly events including live music, discos, quiz nights, bingo, skittles and poker tournaments. Adjacent is five acres of playing fields, including two full size goals, a children's playground along with equipment designed to help coordination and balance, and a family area with picnic tables. There are also new tennis courts. Brancaster offers something for everyone!

Really let down by lack of attention to detail on the housekeeping front. Some things very dirty and/or missing. Provided our own washing line and pegs, why is such a basic thing missing, especially at a beach resort. Coffee table definitely needed.

Good family accommodation

We had a week of blue skies in Brancaster and were on the beach every day. There were 6 of us, grandparents, parents, teenage granddaughters and Otto the dog who loved racing along the huge beach. It takes a good 20 minutes to walk to the beach from the house. We enjoyed taking a boat from Brancaster Staithe, visiting Holkham Hall and Burnham Market Curlew provides light and airy basic accommodation. The downstairs ensuite bedroom is particulary large and comfortable. The garden, although not scenic, is fine for dogs and small children to run around in. There were a few maintenance issues in the house which Norfolk Hideaways dealt with swiftly and efficiently where they were able to...thank you for that.

Comfortable value

Our fifth visit to Norfolk in 3 years . Usual helpful and excellent service from Norfolk Hideaways. Had a lovely week at Curlew having previously stayed at Wigeon Cottage and Seagrass recently in Thornham. Good points : Garden excellent and totally secure for the dogs which was very high on priority list. Downstairs very comfortable as we're the beds. Kitchen had everything required. Walking distance to Brancaster Beach. Peaceful location .f Despite a couple of housekeeping glitches and it lioking a little tired in llaces we had another lovely week in Norfolk.
