Carbon House @ Rye - Our Hidden Gem

This is our "Hidden Gem", our guests are always pleasantly surprised to what they find when they arrive. Enjoy the serenity with this elevated property located in a leafy position. Carbon House is a homely beach house which has been decorated with quality furnishings and is beautifully appointed with all the mod cons which cater for all the creature comforts that you have left behind. All set in a peaceful and tranquil environment.

The home comfortably sleeps 8 with 2 queen bedrooms, main with ensuite, a third bedroom with two single beds and a fourth bedroom with a set of bunk beds and separate living area & TV, ideal for the kids. Separate main bathroom and toilet, open plan new kitchen, dining and living areas. There is a small front facing balcony ideal for a morning coffee and a large rear under cover entertaining/BBQ area leading to the terraced backyard off the living area.

The entertaining area is paved with a 4 burner BBQ and ample room for the little ones to play including a cubby house overlooking the backyard surrounded by lush tea trees, shrubs and landscaped garden in a private leafy setting. The house is surrounded in a sea of pebbles and stepping-stones with room for 2 cars under the carport and plenty of space to un-hitch the boat

Located between the ocean and bay side beaches of Rye and just a few minutes drive to everything but far enough away for a bit of rest and relaxation.
Our home is specifically set up for families and mature aged guests and unfortunately, we do not accommodate Young single groups or "Schoolies" groups.
Local Attractions:

Close by you will find many golf courses to choose from, Saturday & Sunday markets, wineries and vineyards plus berry farms where you can pick your own. Horse riding, national park walks and a choice of many surf or calm bay side beaches for surfing or just relaxation.

There are many restaurants and cafes all around the bay and galleries with unique items from our own artists offer a chance to find special something to take home with you. All water sports and activities are available within a few minutes drive including the Peninsula natural hot springs, game fishing, swimming with the dolphins as well as the car ferry to Queenscliff from nearby Sorrento.

This house was in a great location, close to lots of attractions. We are a big family and it had plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. The house is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The queen beds are a bit old and a bit hard, but not uncomfortable. Our kids enjoyed the backyard and Cubbyhouse.

Great holiday getaway

We stayed at the carbon house for New Years, it was only a 7minute drive from the beach and 30minute walk. The house was large enough to fit 8 people and spacious backyard and living areas. Unfortunately during our stay we did find 5 cockroach’s under the bed and in the barbecue we would recommend another deep clean through the house.

Nice little getaway

Property was well equipped and suitable for the two families. Was a little bit more run down than expected - rust, peeling paint but did not detract from our time there. Sitting outside was nice as was the kids room with a tv and a little place for them to play. Would go return.

Very good place for family holidays

House has everything for enjoyable holidays in Rye. Outside dining area is well suited for a big family. Kitchen and bedrooms are well equipped. House is located in a nice area. It is either a short drive or some "real" walk to the beach. We did both during our stay and liked them. Communication with the host was first class although we would prefer not to send extra documents during signing up.

Good location and well equipped

Well located house in a nice quiet spot not far from front and back beaches and shops (we did have some very rowdy neighbours one night but the other nights were very peaceful). Comfortable bedrooms and living area and a lovely private deck surrounded by trees. Owners communication was great and they were generous with check in/out times. We really appreciated being able to arrive for lunch on the first day. Well equipped and a nice surprise of wine and chocolates on arrival. Would definitely recommend.

Great family vacation

The house is a great size for a couple of families to stay. An easy drive down to the main strip of Rye but a bit of a trek by foot on a hot day. The house was fairly clean but unfortunately the cubby house was full of cobwebs and goodness knows what else that the kids couldn't play in there. The internet struggled at times but maybe because of the influx of people in Rye? All in all a great stay. Thanks for your hospitality.

Great family sized home.

The house was spacious enough to accommodate our party of 4 adults and 3 children. All rooms were amply proportioned, comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. The kitchen had an abundance of cooking pans, crockery and serving dishes. Outside there was a large dining space under cover and gas barbecue. The garden and cubby house were ideal for children slightly older than ours. Personally we felt there were areas our 2 year old could fall over edges or down the steps. Similarly we put the stair gate at the top of the stairs so the children didn't fall down and we installed our own at living room door. The owner was very helpful and responded quickly to our queries. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Great place

We enjoyed our stay. The property is very spacious both inside and outside and very well equiped. Steve is very responsive and friendly. However there is a very mild leakage underneath the sink in the on-suite. It is not very serious at all but can be a safety hazard due to the wet floor (the bucket underneath sometimes doesn't capture all the leaked water). Overall we had a great time and will definitely rebook again in future.

We really enjoyed our holiday at Carbon House with our daughters and grandchildren. It is very comfortable and an easy drive to local attractions and the beach. Communication with the Property Manager was excellent. Great place for a holiday not far from Melbourne.

Best Holiday Home so far

This place was perfect for us. Most of the times pics and description is different to actual property but for this place every detailed mentioned online was correct. We asked for different check in and check out times and owner was happy to accomodate with our request. I have been booking places since 2013 and by far this was the best place and communication with owner was very good. Looks like i will be booking this place again
