Great place with lots of character. I wish we could've explored more around the property but we were pressed for time. Lovely time all around.

What a gem!!
This house was absolutely perfect for us! It was cozy, but roomy enough to have a separate TV room, reading room, porch area and well spaced bedrooms. There was a nice collection of movies, books and games. The kitchen and bathrooms were nicely stocked with extras that just made our stay so nice. The setting was quiet, secluded without being isolated, easy to access and close to Asheville. And the pond across the street was entertaining for my son.
This house was not a modern, showy place, but was comfortable, relaxing and very thoughtfully prepared. It felt like coming home!! The only thing I would have wanted was to stay longer!!

Remote up a mountain? Nope not for us. In the middle of town? Not for us either. This Home Sweet Home was only part way up a mountain winding road. Master bedroom is downstairs which was. Dry important to our 3 generation group. It was a little cold so all the outdoor seating went wanting. It is sort of between Hendersonville and Asheville. Fireplace, plenty of lounging furniture. One “bad thing”. Wi-Fi is very weak and the tv is set off onto a sleeping porch. Streaming content only. No clocks. Did I say Bad? It was wonderful. We played games to get back in touch with our family. Loved it!
A minor glitz with tv owners assisted
Loved the country atmosphere, quiet so homey felling like staying at grandmas home. Loved the deck thank you for sharing with us
This is a very nice older home that is very close to Chimney Rock. Nestled back into the woods for a very quiet experience yet still close to attractions. A very short drive will have you right in Chimney Rock. You are located in the middle between Hendersonville and Ashville. If you do stay here, make sure you eat at Binion’s Steakhouse, the wait is well worth it! The house is very nice and clean, but dated. It is the perfect old charm country home for a great getaway. The host is very good with communication and eager to assist should they need arise. I would not hesitate to make another visit here in the future!
Well Stocked Kitchen and Toiletries, Fantastic View!
Great view of the neighborhood and access to the pond! Even went play fishing with the kids and got some nibbles. Wrap around balcony is where we all lounged most of the day and people came and went as they explored.
A great spot to reunite with our daughter son-in-law and grandson who we haven’t seen since before Covid. And a terrific way to spend Thanksgiving. A very well appointed kitchen made this easy. Mountain views, even though chilly a nice porch for sitting. Son-in-law a little disappointed in Wi-Fi connection, but we were warned about that. Otherwise a very comfortable and delightful stay in the North Carolina mountains.
For celebrating our 60th Anniversary we could have been no better served these days than by this beautiful, fully equipped house in Hickory Nut Gap near Asheville, N.C. We enjoyed especially the wide, half-around front deck, where we spent most hours when not hiking one of the many nearby natural trails, and going mushroom hunting (found some delicious Suillus and Bolete). Especially valuable for relaxing is the extensive library. We concur with all of the preceding positive commentary on kitchen, dining, and sleeping facilities.
We found this house to be clean, the porch was a delight, and it was quiet and peaceful. If you are looking for a strong reliable internet connection, I would not recommend this location. Additionally, It is a bit warm upstairs in the two bedrooms.
I loved this house. It was perfect for my family group. Inside it is well- equipped with everything to make your stay comfortable. Outside is a gorgeous yard with many flowering plants. It was all perfect.
Nice secluded house in a quiet neighborhood. It's an older house, so it has that lived-in look. Pros: lots of room
Big wraparound porch
Clearly labeled important items
Good information and suggestions about
the local area posted in kitchen
Gas fireplace
Cons: no iron or ironing board
No cellular service
Internet is slow, but that is disclosed on
the sheet with the password.
I enjoyed my stay, it was good to disconnect for a few days. If you're looking for a comfy rustic getaway, this is a good choice.
We enjoyed the house; however,we needed internet service and it was way too slow to be beneficial! The firestick television service was dependent on the internet and would not work at all....we had to stay in on New Year's Day due to rainy cold weather, and would have liked to have been able to watch bowl games, which was not possible! We could not get any news or weather on television either...I feel like the information given on the house when I rented it was not accurate due to these problems. The comfort of the home was great, but I would not rent this property again due to the above problems.

Hi Carla, the homeowners have asked us to share this response:
We apologize for your disappointment with the internet and its associated entertainment with Netflix and the Firestick. Unfortunately, the only internet currently available in Gerton is through satellite, and if the weather isn't great, it can interrupt the signal. We will try to explore other options in the future as they become available, possibly adding satellite television and movies for added guest enjoyment. We will also update the listing so that guests know what to expect from the Wi-Fi here. Thanks for letting us know about your stay!
