3 PROS:
1. One block to Main Street — restaurants, shops, and trailheads on foot
2. Sleeps 10 with a real dining room — built for group meals
3. Jacuzzi tub + fenced yard for the dogs + kid gear ready
2 CONS:
1. A historic Victorian that creaks and squeaks — character over brand-new
2. No A/C — Leadville rarely needs it at 10,152 ft
Guest Access:
You have the entire private home — both floors, the dining and living rooms, the fenced backyard, and bike/ski storage in the garage (the garage is for gear, not vehicles). Free on-street parking out front fits about two cars.
Before arrival you'll receive an email link to our digital guidebook — it's the only place check-in details live, and it's where pet registration is handled, so please open it before you travel.
The Neighborhood:
The Painted Lady sits a block off Harrison Avenue in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District — restaurants, coffee, museums, galleries, and shops are a short walk, and so are the Mineral Belt Trail access points.
From the door:
- Ski Cooper (15 min) and Copper Mountain (25 min) for lift days; Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Beaver Creek are 30–50 min
- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets
- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks
- Fall-color bike rides, fly fishing, snowshoeing — there's something every season
Getting Around:
Leadville is walkable and this home is in the heart of downtown — Main Street is a block away, so park the car and walk to dinner. Free on-street parking out front, and in winter the free Lake County shuttle connects to Copper Mountain.

Pets: welcome (up to 2 dogs - $85+tax for one pet and $170+tax for two) — registered through the guidebook link. Please clean up after your dog in the backyard.
For stays longer than 15 days, a mid-stay cleaning is required and an additional fee of $150 will apply. This helps us maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensures the home stays comfortable for the duration of your stay.
No A/C. Elevation is 10,152 ft — hydrate on day one; altitude sickness is real and not refundable.
This is a historic Victorian — it creaks, the floors aren't level, and that's part of staying in a 19th-century home. Kid gear (crib, high chair, gate) is provided. The garage is for bike/ski storage, not vehicles.
After heavy snow, watch for snow-removal signs on street parking.
Interaction with Guests:

Steps away from Harrison Ave. Great location for Boom Days activities. Property is well appointed but decor and furnishings are very dated. No screens in the windows and one window had no glass.

High school Cross Country team tradition- high altitude pre- season training in Leadville, CO. This was the perfect house for our chaperone and 10 teenage boys! Close to everything! ☆☆☆☆☆

Hi Katherine, We're delighted that our house was a great fit for your high school Cross Country team's pre-season training tradition in Leadville, CO! It's wonderful to hear that the house accommodated your chaperone and the group of energetic teenagers perfectly. Being close to everything must have been convenient for your team's activities. We appreciate your choice and hope to welcome you all again in the future!
The house was completely clean and comfortable and we loved the location but it didn't quite live up to expectations. We were disappointed that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor space - lots of weeds, broken bricks and nowhere to sit. The mattresses were old and squeaky, the furniture, carpet and fabric on the walls were worn. Definitely comfortable, just not quite what we were expecting based on the reviews and description.

Hi Laura,
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you found the house comfortable and enjoyed the location, but we’re sorry to hear it didn’t fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments on the outdoor space and furnishings and will make sure improvements continue in these areas.
Perfectly situated home, very close to Harrison Avenue (the Main Street in Leadville). We stayed over Boom Days weekend and family members could easily come and go since driving was not required for the events this weekend. Lockbox very convenient. Home was clean and comfortable, and we found all that we needed for cooking and relaxing. One thing to note is that you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the second bedroom upstairs. Great communication with the management company, and we'd stay here again. Thank You.

Hi, We're thrilled that the home's prime location near Harrison Avenue added to the convenience of your stay during the lively Boom Days weekend. The easy accessibility and amenities provided, along with effective communication from the management company, contributed to your comfortable experience. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future. Thank you for choosing us!
Painted Lady served our group well as a base for kids racing mtn bikes. It's a step back in time sitting in the front room with the 'quilted'/insulated walls. Beds were passable. Kitchen adequately stocked. One safety point to note- stairs to upper level are steep & slippery carpet. Warning sign says 'be careful', but perhaps rubber strips or similar could be added to improve grip. A mom in our party slipped & injured herself descending the stairs

We appreciate your input and hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
