♡ "Reminded me of staying at grandma's, in a nostalgic way" — Heide, Jul '25

» 1min ➔ Main St » 25min ➔ Ski Cooper » 12min ➔ Turquoise Lake

The Space:

The Painted Lady is a two-story Victorian in the heart of downtown Leadville — vintage character, room for the whole group, and Harrison Avenue a block away.

➔ Downstairs Bedrooms — Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed.

➔ Upstairs Bedrooms — One with a queen + twin; one with a queen, a full, and a twin. Four bedrooms, seven beds, sleeps 10.

➔ Bathrooms — Two full baths, one with a jacuzzi tub.

➔ Kitchen — Well-equipped with a gas range and dishwasher, opening to a formal dining room that seats the whole crew.

➔ Living Spaces — A formal sitting room with a bay window plus a second living area with a TV.

➔ Outside — Pet-friendly fenced backyard and a charcoal grill. Crib, high chair, and gate on hand. Bike/ski storage in the garage.

3 PROS:

1. One block to Main Street — restaurants, shops, and trailheads on foot

2. Sleeps 10 with a real dining room — built for group meals

3. Jacuzzi tub + fenced yard for the dogs + kid gear ready

2 CONS:

1. A historic Victorian that creaks and squeaks — character over brand-new

2. No A/C — Leadville rarely needs it at 10,152 ft

Guest Access:

You have the entire private home — both floors, the dining and living rooms, the fenced backyard, and bike/ski storage in the garage (the garage is for gear, not vehicles). Free on-street parking out front fits about two cars.

Before arrival you'll receive an email link to our digital guidebook — it's the only place check-in details live, and it's where pet registration is handled, so please open it before you travel.

The Neighborhood:

The Painted Lady sits a block off Harrison Avenue in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District — restaurants, coffee, museums, galleries, and shops are a short walk, and so are the Mineral Belt Trail access points.

From the door:

- Ski Cooper (15 min) and Copper Mountain (25 min) for lift days; Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Beaver Creek are 30–50 min

- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets

- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks

- Fall-color bike rides, fly fishing, snowshoeing — there's something every season

Getting Around:

Leadville is walkable and this home is in the heart of downtown — Main Street is a block away, so park the car and walk to dinner. Free on-street parking out front, and in winter the free Lake County shuttle connects to Copper Mountain.

Other Things to Note:

License #001964

Pets: welcome (up to 2 dogs - $85+tax for one pet and $170+tax for two) — registered through the guidebook link. Please clean up after your dog in the backyard.

For stays longer than 15 days, a mid-stay cleaning is required and an additional fee of $150 will apply. This helps us maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensures the home stays comfortable for the duration of your stay.

No A/C. Elevation is 10,152 ft — hydrate on day one; altitude sickness is real and not refundable.

This is a historic Victorian — it creaks, the floors aren't level, and that's part of staying in a 19th-century home. Kid gear (crib, high chair, gate) is provided. The garage is for bike/ski storage, not vehicles.

After heavy snow, watch for snow-removal signs on street parking.

Interaction with Guests:

We're locals and a text away — typical response under an hour, and guests regularly note how available and responsive we are. Check-in is self-service; we'll confirm you're settled, then leave you to your trip.

Great location

Steps away from Harrison Ave. Great location for Boom Days activities. Property is well appointed but decor and furnishings are very dated. No screens in the windows and one window had no glass.

Comfortable old house, great location

The house was completely clean and comfortable and we loved the location but it didn't quite live up to expectations. We were disappointed that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor space - lots of weeds, broken bricks and nowhere to sit. The mattresses were old and squeaky, the furniture, carpet and fabric on the walls were worn. Definitely comfortable, just not quite what we were expecting based on the reviews and description.

Convenient and Cozy

Perfectly situated home, very close to Harrison Avenue (the Main Street in Leadville). We stayed over Boom Days weekend and family members could easily come and go since driving was not required for the events this weekend. Lockbox very convenient. Home was clean and comfortable, and we found all that we needed for cooking and relaxing. One thing to note is that you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the second bedroom upstairs. Great communication with the management company, and we'd stay here again. Thank You.

Comfortable creaky old house :-)

Painted Lady served our group well as a base for kids racing mtn bikes. It's a step back in time sitting in the front room with the 'quilted'/insulated walls. Beds were passable. Kitchen adequately stocked. One safety point to note- stairs to upper level are steep & slippery carpet. Warning sign says 'be careful', but perhaps rubber strips or similar could be added to improve grip. A mom in our party slipped & injured herself descending the stairs

Thank you for your valuable feedback about your stay at the Painted Lady. We're glad to hear that our property served as a suitable base for your group during the mountain bike races. Your safety concerns about the steep and slippery stairs are duly noted, and we will certainly look into improving the grip to prevent accidents in the future. We appreciate your input and hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
