Exquisite Historical Palazzo Apartment with Canal View

The Alighieri “B” is a truly exquisite top floor with spectacular canal views, spacious sunny terrace, accessible by elevator.



It is one of the four apartments comprising the whole top floor of an historical Palazzo found in the west side of Castello District, only a few minutes’ walk from San Marco Square.



In the surroundings there are lots of artisan and antique ateliers, local food shops and delicious osterie (traditional restaurants). Some of the cultural landmarks that can be found close by in Castello beside the well-known Arsenale and Biennale Gardens include Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, Church of San Giorgio dei Greci, Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Church of San Zaccaria and many others.



The entire property has been completely and luxuriously refurbished in 2013: an elevator has been installed, the original terrazzo flooring and art-deco inspired inlaid parquet renovated, frescoes and stuccoes brought back to the ancient splendour, the spacious terrace equipped with table, sunshade and sun chairs.



The building is accessible by private water taxi from the Marco Polo airport in only 20 minutes and it takes less than 5 minutes’ walk to reach the Vaporetto/Alilaguna (ferry boat) stop San Zaccaria, thus very central.

This apartment can be accessed from a very bright and elegant shared entrance hall giving on to the communal terraces. It has a spacious living/dining room with the most remarkable stuccoed ceiling, large windows facing Rio di San Lorenzo and offering stunning canal views, elegant furnishing and a modern full optional kitchen for chef-proof dining up to 8 people.



In the room between the living room and the master bedroom there is a double sofa-bed and the access to the second bathroom. The master bedroom boasts a canopied bed dressed with nice linen, while its en-suite marble bathroom is equipped with bathtub. The apartment is equipped with every sort of comfort, including Wi-Fi, A/C, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, large fridge and freezer, TV with DVD player, etc.



The Alighieri "B" can also be combined with the Alighieri “A”, “C” and/or “D”, located on the same floor. We called this combination of apartments Palazzo Alighieri: a perfect accommodation solution for groups that aim for maximum privacy or for family reunions with well-behaved children.

Great location! We loved the size of the apartment. House was fully stocked with everything. Great A/C! A few extra touches were appreciated. We enjoy the upstairs outside terrace. My only wish list would be to add curtains to all of the bedrooms and I also found the beds -extra firm, maybe a optional mattress topper for people like me would be great. Thank you for sharing your apartment with my family!

If you go to Venice stay in this apartment. It is fabulous.

This apartment exceeded our expectations. It is the best VRBO that we have stayed in. The apartment is light and airy, beautifully decorated and just top-notch all the way. The first night we were there the AC was not functioning. We texted Svetlana and she had it fixed the next morning. Also, while we were there they installed a washing machine in the apartment. Very convenient. There are dryers available on the ground floor - unusual in Italy. Particularly handy in Venice, as it's hard to get the laundry to dry. The apartment is very spacious with large windows facing the canal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to any one. Of the three apartments we rented in Italy this was by far the best. It's in a great location - in Castello, but only a10 minute walk to the San Marco vaperretto stop and St. Mark's Square. Rent it and enjoy.

Exceptional!

I am a regular user of VRBO - within the US and outside. This has to be one of my favorite properties. I will make a list: (1) The size isn't fully conveyed in the pictures - very large - many windows (with wooden covers to block light and noise - although this was not an issue). High ceilings with beautiful lighting. (2) The master bed was comfortable and with excellent bedding. Also, the pull out was very comfortable - with excellent bedding. (3) It had a small elevator - a gift when transporting luggage! (4) Excellent security - a huge door with key provided entry to the building as well as call/button system from the apartment (nice with arms full of groceries)- we also felt like the building was essentially ours - with a few apartments on our floor. The entry area had wash/dryer combo, sauna, and bathroom. This also contained washers and dryers for staff (separate). From the ground floor the stairs and elevator only accessed our floor. All others must be accessed by different entries elsewhere. (5) There was an a huge mirrored closet leading to the master bath. Two doors to the master bedroom. Excellent water pressure and hot water. (6) One of the best features for us - we could use just about any style plug point. The apartment had mulit-use plug points. We used US and European devices. (7) A well stocked kitchen - including Coffee pot! - and a bottle of wine! Close grocery stores and markets. (8) Comfortable furnishings - and excellent wifi. (they even provided a hi-def cable so we could use our devices with TV. We were met at the dock - which we didn't expect -it was a nice surprise. We would have spent a great deal of time finding the apartment. The location was excellent - we walked just about every where. (9) The view was beautiful. Canal, buildings, and roof tops. Great outside area to eat and even higher point to relax and drink. (10) Pristine - clean. The only drawback I can think of -- understand how to use the air conditioning - or ask. It took us a little while to figure it out. Although worked great when we did. You can't go wrong!

Outstanding apartment in Venice!

We were knocked out by this apartment! Beautiful, well furnished, large rooms with views from upper floor (accessible by elevator) over the city and a quiet canal. The kitchen is well equipped, although we couldn't resist the great restaurants and coffee houses near by, so we didn't eat in often. Nice outside deck when the weather is warm. Short walk to the lagoon and grand canal, but without the crowds and noise. Great restaurants and shopping close by. Our only trouble was with check in, but that was of our own making for not getting in touch with Svetlana a few days sooner (it all worked out). We would love to stay at Antonella's apartment again!

Beautiful apartment in an excellent location

This unit is just beautiful, convenient (lift) and in a great location). The restaurants nearby (steps away) were very good and the main tourist highlights are a short walk away. Svetlana met us at the water bus stop and once at the apartment explained all the ins and outs we needed to know. Very helpful!

Nous avons Ă©tĂ© absolument ravis de ce grand appartement de Venise. Lumineux et paisible, calme bien que situĂ© Ă  quelques minutes du cƓur touristique, nous y avons trouvĂ© tout ce qui est dĂ©crit dans la prĂ©sentation et nous nous sentions chez nous, dans cet ancien palace rĂ©novĂ© de trĂšs belle façon, avec des matĂ©riaux nobles, dans la simplicitĂ© et la sobriĂ©tĂ©. De nombreuses et belles fenĂȘtres donnent sur le canal et sur la petite rue, mais aucun bruit du dehors ne vient perturber la tranquillitĂ©. La climatisation est parfaite et s'est avĂ©rĂ©e prĂ©cieuse Ă  cause de la grande chaleur. Le lit est absolument confortable, la literie de grande qualitĂ© et les salles de bain sont spacieuses et impeccables. La cuisine est moderne et bien Ă©quipĂ©e. Nous avons mĂȘme pu faire une lessive au sous-sol. La petite terrasse est facilement accessible et nous a permis de prendre l'apĂ©ro et les antipasti, Ă  l'abri de la foule, au son des hirondelles, en surplomb du magnifique jardin de la propriĂ©taire. À notre arrivĂ©e, la charmante Svetlana nous a accueillis avec une grande gentillesse, Ă  notre descente du bateau-taxi, et elle nous a guidĂ©s dans le dĂ©dale des rues et patiemment fourni tous les renseignements requis. Elle a rĂ©pondu Ă  nos questions par la suite, par texto. Enfin, l'ascenseur est nettement un atout...! Cette location est hautement recommandable pour vivre Venise en douceur...! Beautiful Apartment and neighborhood

This by far was one of the best rentals I have experienced. Grande and large by Italy standards, my husband and I were able to “spread out”in this spacious apartment, the neighborhood near Greco bridge was wonderful for grocery shopping, dining out and the Arsenal’s. Also a quick walk to St Marks and a luxurious stroll to the Grand Canal where our friends stayed. Lovely and thank you Svetlana

AMAZING place to stay in Venice!!!

This is a perfect apartment if you are planning a trip to Venice. We LOVED this location and will return again on a future visit. The apartment is very spacious and beautiful. You have everything you need including a very convenient elevator to handle luggage. It is in a lovely and quiet area of Venice with a very comfortable master bedroom; which made for great sleeps!! As quiet and serene the neighbourhood, you are only about a 5 minute walk to the Lagoon and St Marks Square and less than 10 minutes from the Rialto bridge. We walked everywhere easily from this location while in Venice. We visited in early September and it was quite hot and the AC kept us cool and comfortable. On prior trips to Venice we have stayed in hotels; but this will be our go to home away from home in Venice from now on!! LOVED IT!!!

Wonderful Palazzo in Venice!

We loved this apartment in Venice! Spacious, with a modern kitchen and has everything you need. It is very well taken care for even in the small details. It is on the third floor of a Palazzo with elevador front to a Canal. It is very beautiful and two rooms have “afrescos” in the ceiling that are surely very old! A very confortable place to stay in Venice in an area not so crowded but still easy to reach. The owner is very responsive and concerned that you have a wonderful stay. We surely plan to go back. on another trip.

L'annonce dit « Beautiful and spacious » et c'est tout Ă  fait vrai! Beau, propre, grand Ă  souhait et mĂȘme si tout prĂšs de la Place St-Marc, trĂšs calme. Une belle salle Ă  manger/salon avec toute une rangĂ©e de belles fenĂȘtres donnant sur la ville et un canal juste en bas oĂč passe les gondoles! En prime, une chouette petite Ă©picerie toute proche. Je vous recommande cet appartement sans hĂ©sitation. The ad says "Beautiful and spacious" and it's absolutely true! Beautiful, clean, great and, even if it's very close to St. Mark's Place, it's very quiet. A beautiful dining / living room with a whole row of beautiful windows overlooking the city and a canal just down, where the gondolas go! As a bonus, a nice little supermarket nearby. I recommend this apartment without hesitation.

Spacious with a great view, clean and comfortable, great location!

We arrived a day late because of airline delays, but the Begonia was beautiful, sparkling clean and perfectly located! Svetlana met us at the San Zaccharias vaporetto dock and briefed us on keys, laundry, etc. It was a huge apartment with great views of tiled roofs, a canal, steeples and towers. There is a full kitchen for those staying ay length of time who wish to prepare their own meals, a beautiful long dining room table, two bathrooms and a spacious living room/sitting area. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting romantic Venice, whether it's their first visit or, as many do, return for more magic. This is a wonderful property.

Hated to leave

The apartment was gorgeous and spacious, filled with light. Luxurious linens (ironed!) on the bed. Eleven windows overlooking a canal. Enjoyed "Pranzo all'aperto" on the lower terrace, and then a nap in the sun on the upper terrace. The apartment was very clean. The staff was great. Our little dream of living in Venice for 2 weeks!

Stunning and extremely comfortable apartment with views over rooftops and canal.

We stayed a week in this fabulous apartment. It is extremely spacious with lots of original detail: the wooden parquet flooring, frescoed ceilings and doors. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole place relaxing. The views from all the windows are across the rooftops towards San Marco. This was especially atmospheric at sunset. The view down onto the Canal de Greci was great and there was always something to watch. We even managed to sit out on the terrace in the sunshine once for breakfast and for late afternoon drinks. It is in a very quiet neighbourhood yet not far from the San Zaccharia stop or from St Marc's Square. We walked everywhere and loved exploring and comparing different parts of the city. We arrived on a Sunday evening and took a water taxi from the airport to save time. Svetlana met us at a drop off near the apartment and showed us where everything was. There was a welcome bottle of Prosecco which was lovely. Arriving on a Sunday evening meant shops were shut. Some instant coffee in the cupboard would have been useful until we bought some for the machine the next day. We also had brought our own shower gel etc which was useful since there was none in either of the fabulous bathrooms. We have stayed in similar levels of accommodation and these little finishing touches do make a difference. Despite this we would highly recommend the apartment and the location. We loved it.

Begonia apartment exceeded all expectations!

My husband and I just returned home from a quick 3-night stay in Venice. From start to finish, this rental experience was one of the best we've ever had. Antonella was easy to book with and excellent in her communication. She gave us the number of her representative, Svetlana, with whom we easily texted and met us at the Ospedale vaparetto stop. The apartment can be reached from that one, or from San Zaccaria. Ospedale made for a slightly longer walk, but a much shorter water-bus ride. (Side note, I highly recommend the water taxi if you can afford it. SO much faster, easier and more comfortable. We had a very long wait for the water bus.) The Begonia apartment is on the top floor of the building (there is a slow lift, helpful if you have heavy bags) and there is also a shared terrace with a dining table and a smaller, rooftop terrace that's perfect for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine. The entry hall has a shared ice-maker for the floor. However, we never saw nor heard another person in the building. The apartment is stunning and so much bigger than I thought it would be! The ceilings are high and painted with lovely frescoes, the floors are authentic parquet, and the VIEWS... well I was blown away. There are many windows that all look out on the canal, bridges, and over the rooftops. I loved listening to the sounds of the canal coming alive in the morning, the boats, the people, the church bells... (but the windows are excellent and when closed the apartment is very quiet!) Having two full bathrooms was a treat, and the shower had the best water pressure I've had in ages! The apartment has many details really make it stand out... full-length mirrors, high quality hair-dryer, two kinds of coffee makers, a bottle of prosecco in the fridge... etc. We did not use the sofa-bed in the room adjacent to the bedroom, but there was plenty of space for another person or two... however not great privacy for whoever would be sleeping out there. The bed and bedding were comfortable, though a bit firm. (One recommendation would be to have a couple extra pillow choices available for those who prefer a softer pillow.) And the only other thing to note was that I was glad I had packed a bar of soap, for there was no body soap (or shampoo) in the bathrooms. Not a big deal, but good to know! All in all it was an excellent experience, we would definitely return, and I would recommend Antonella and the Begonia apartment to anyone!

Absolutely Enchanting Apartment

We stayed for four nights here (June 17-21) It is a beautiful and spacious apartment adjacent to the S. Lorenzo canal (yes, even better than the pictures). The apartment is well located, a few minutes from S. Marcos but in the quieter Castello sestiere. The apartment is in the equivalent of an American third floor (second floor in Europe, I believe) with beautiful views of the red rooftops of Venice. It has an elevator. The features within the apartment are all superb and it appears that it was recently tastefully renovated . There is at least one supermarket very close by (less than !00 meters). There are also several restaurants very near the apartment. We were received at the S. Zaccaria vaporetto stop and helped with our luggage to the apartment. Antonella was always available to promptly answer questions and provide assistance. We will stay here on our next visit to Venice which will be in the near future. Miguel & Irene

Location en tous points conforme au descriptif. La situation de ce logement est parfaite, situĂ©e Ă  5 mn Ă  pied de la station vaporetto de San Zaccaria, au dernier Ă©tage avec vue sur canal et gondoles. L'appartement est magnifique, bien dĂ©corĂ© (plafonds d'Ă©poque), avec de beaux meubles et surtout de beaux volumes. Bien Ă©quipĂ© et assez confortable (Ă©paisseur du matelas Ă  revoir ou rajouter un sommier ??), Il est situĂ© dans un bĂątiment historique dont l'intĂ©rieur a Ă©tĂ© refait Ă  neuf. Hall en marbre. Terrasse dans l'immeuble Ă  partager entre vacanciers. Grande suite avec dressing, salle d'eau et salle de bain et sĂ©parĂ©es ! Sauna et laverie au RDC de l'immeuble. Par temps de chaleur, Il est prĂ©fĂ©rable cependant d'utiliser la climatisation la nuit afin de fermer les fenĂȘtres et de limiter ainsi les bruits extĂ©rieurs. L'ensemble est trĂšs propre. L'accueil (bouteille de Prosecco et le suivi (administratif et conseils) sont Ă  la hauteur des prestations. Excellent sĂ©jour. RĂ©cupĂ©ration de la caution en temps et en heure. IMPECCABLE ! Great location, close to the taxi stand and San Marco. The apartment was large and well appointed - it is much better than the photos. Sérénité et appartement magnifique pour explorer la Sérénissime

Nous connaissons trÚs bien notre trÚs chÚre Venezia, plus de 20 séjours,... et c'est la premiÚre fois que nous avons l'occasion d'apprécier autant de confort ! Confort certes, mais surtout l'immense plaisir de vivre longuement, presque deux semaines, dans un appartement vaste et soigné, sobre et luxueux, d'un goût trÚs sûr, sans aucun détail "pittoresque" ni ostentation, ce qui est infiniment relaxant, tout en étant bien vivant, dans l'animation du magnifique Rio de San Lorenzo, entouré de ses trésors artistiques et historiques Les plafonds sont un ravissement, le linge de lit en lin un délice, le cadre des salles de bains un repos corps et ùme ! La wifi est hyper efficace : nous adorons la musique et nous avions apporté nos tablette et speaker personnel Hifi, parfait ! Et que dire de l'ascenseur, quel soulagement avec les courses, ou aprÚs les folies des nombreux bals, concerts, opéras du Carnaval ! Rien ne manque pour cuisiner les poissons tout frais du Rialto,four à chaleur tournante pour le "branzino", ou les extraordinaires steaks du boucher du Punto, qui les coupera épais comme chez nous si on le lui demande, griller le pain, servir le Prosecco dans des flûtes ou l'Amarone dans un "calice" digne de lui... Le délicieux café moulu fin de la brûlerie du campo de la Bragora, ouverte le matin seulement ! s'accommodera trÚs bien de la cafetiÚre italienne moka,( mais pour les grandes quantités du petit déj j'ai laissé mon cÎne melitta et des filtres en papier pour les suivants) Il nous faudra revenir une période plus calme (mais cela existe-t- il à Venise ?) pour profiter de sauna, et plus chaude pour les magnifiques terrasses ... Un grand merci à Madame Baldissera pour son accueil chaleureux et personnalisé par mail, et pour son équipe sur place, parfaitement efficace. En conclusion, nous recommandons chaleureusement Begonia, on ne peut mieux situé, à tous les amoureux de Venise A presto !

Wonderful romantic getaway in the heart of Venice!

My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in this luxurious apartment. Great location, spacious rooms, beautiful views - we highly recommend this residence.
