Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, home to puffins, seals and one of the UK’s most important bird sanctuaries. At Bamburgh (3.5 miles), you can explore a dramatic clifftop castle and century-old lighthouse. For more wildlife and walking, head to Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve (19.5 miles), or spend a day exploring Alnwick (14.5 miles) – a handsome market town boasting world-famous gardens and a castle that starred as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.

Step inside to a handy entrance hall with coat hooks, before heading into the dual-aspect lounge/diner – a sociable space with comfy sofas and a Smart TV. At the far end, a dining table sits beside sliding doors that open onto the rear garden. The separate kitchen is well-equipped and overlooks the garden, with a connecting door to the utility room. From here, you can access the garden and route into the WC. Upstairs are four bedrooms to choose from: a king-size room with a TV/DVD player and en-suite shower room, a second king-size, a small double that’s ideal for one guest and a bunk room perfect for younger members of the group.
