About this property

Emsdorf - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Homelands is a charitable trust which provides fully accessible luxury self catering accommodation in 9 purpose built lodges (Lundin, Largo, Drummochy, Massney, Cardy, Keil, Selkirk, Durham and Emsdorf). The lodges are situated in the picturesque village of Lundin Links overlooking Lundin Links Golf course with open views to Edinburgh over the Firth of Forth.

Lundin Links is in the heart of the beautiful East Neuk of Fife 12 miles from St Andrews; the home of golf and the home of third oldest university in the English speaking world, and a short distance from the East Neuk's rugged coastline and its character filled fishing villages such as Crail, Anstruther, and Pitenweem. Lower Largo and Lundin Links themselves are famed for their links to the original Robinson Crusoe (Alexander Selkirk) whose birthplace in Lower Largo is a short distance from the Lodge. The village features a bar, restaurant, sports club (including tennis courts) and a small parade of shops including pharmacy, butchers, bakers, post office, and general store all within a short distance of the lodges.

The region is famed for it's outdoor sports/activities, water sports, history and fresh produce / sea food; served in many of the local restaurants which range from Michelin Starred to world famous and favoured by Royals fish and chips in Anstruther.

Further afield we are an hour from Edinburgh (Scotland's Capital City) and Dundee which houses the Discovery museum and the new Victoria and Albert museum.

The lodges have been specifically designed with accessibility in mind and a wealth of features have been incorporated into the designs to ensure they are as accessible as possible, including specialist support equipment/ facilities such as ceiling tracking hoists, a full spacious wetroom, profiling beds, airflow mattress, Clos-o-Mat toilet (depending upon lodge) and riser/recliner chair. We can also provide a range of specialist equipment free of charge on request such as mobile hoists, various shower chairs, a shower trolley, and equipment for people who have a hearing loss. These specialist items must be booked in advance and are allocated on a first come first served basis. For more information about what we provide please get in touch, our helpful staff will happily discuss your requirements.

2nd time here with the disabled lady we look after

Was here in July with lady we look after, she hadn’t been on holiday for 25 years, she loved it so much and getting out everyday to different destinations, she requested to go back again for a winter break in November, which she had another fantastic time, and said she be back in summer of 2026.

Collins family break

The relatively new build emsdorf was a first class home for our family holiday.. as a wheelchair user with multiple sclerosis, all my accessible needs were fully met. Locally there was so much to do and perfectly safe. We had such a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back again.

Returning cutomer

We have been going to Homelands for eleven years. The lodges are very comfortable, spotless and have comfortable beds. We have stayed in most of the lodges old and new. They are very accessible for people with all levels of disabilities. The staff are very helpful. Homelands is situated in Lundin Links in the East Neuk of Fife which is very picturesque and a short drive takes you to other villages in the area. Leven is only ten minutes by car where there are supermarkets and shops. For those who like a walk you can walk along the beach to get to Leven. You are next to the Fife coastal path another lovely area to walk. Lundin Links is a small village with a small SPAR, a lovely butchers, coffee shop and gift shop. The people are very friendly and they are a welcoming community.

A family break that is perfect for us all!

This is our 4th stay at Homelands. All of the properties are well equipped, spacious & comfortable for everyone. It’s wonderful to be able to take our dad on holiday, have all his needs met in a home away from home, and accommodation that is child and dog friendly. The staff onsite are very helpful and kind too. Great location for exploring Fife but plenty within walking distance if you don’t want to travel far. We will be back!

Weekend at Emsdorf

We spent a weekend in the Emsdorf. Stunned by the quality of the house build and the generous space and consideration given to those with bigger challenges than others. It made for a very comfortable stay, nearly everything was catered for down to the tea, coffee, milk and cake on arrival. Genuinely blown away by the facilities and luxury of the space, many thanks to all involved at Homelands Trust

Fantastic Lodge!

Emsdorf is a brilliant lodge and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Accessibility is fantastic - all of the doors throughout are possible the widest I've ever seen in an accessible accommodation. Homelands have an access guide with heaps of detail, but these were my favourite bits: Hall: Huge hall with plenty of space to store and charge a scooter. Kitchen: I loved the wheel-under breakfast bar/food prep area and the hideaway oven door Living area: The huge patio doors leading out the paved patio area are fantastic. Bedroom: Both beds were very comfortable. The wheelchair-user height clothes rail in the wardrobe was very much appreciated. I don't currently use a hoist but it was great to see the ceiling tracking hoist. Bathroom: The wetroom bathroom is huge! Has a hoist, several options for shower seating, and I loved that the grab rails were chrome - definitely more stylish than others I've seen. There's also another separate accessible toilet downstairs! We didn't use upstairs but my wife had a look and said it's all very high quality up there too. It's clear Homelands Trust really care about their guests and the accommodation they provide. We met Kim the general manager who was so lovely and helpful. I stayed at Emsdorf to put together a video, blog and social media review- socials @wheelybraw. I highly recommend a stay here!

Thank you and suggestions

Some of my family members stayed in Emsdorf Lodge and were delighted with the standard of accommodation. My parents’ feedback is they would like a large clock on the wall of the kitchen/living area to help them remember medication times. And they said they loved the space in the bathroom but didn’t like that the door opened so that anyone in the living area could see into the bathroom. (This is because my dad goes in and out of the bathroom to help my mum.) The location was perfect to be able to drive my parents along the coast and them to reminisce about holidays they spent there in the 1950s!

Excellent accessible lodge with all disabled equipment provided

The lodge was spacious, very well equipped with disabled adaptations, and overall extremely comfortable. The beds were good quality, though the single beds upstairs would benefit from being a little longer to properly accommodate an adult. There is a noticeable smell in the laundry room. We understand this can’t be fully resolved, but a small sign explaining this — along with a strong air freshener — would make it more pleasant for guests. The kitchen was well stocked, but with only six pieces of cutlery we found ourselves washing up during meals, so a few extra items would be very welcome. A simple flower vase would also be a nice addition. The information pack sent before our stay was excellent: clear, detailed and genuinely useful. Reception staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating, especially when we asked to try the Costa-mat toilet. All in all, this is great holiday accommodation for disabled guests, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic stay

When we first arrived at Emsdorf Lodge we were taken aback by how spacious it was. The bedroom downstairs with a profiling bed and single divan bed was a massive room. The living room was huge and so was the kitchen. support staff noted how the breakfast bar being low down on one side for a wheelchair user was a perfect touch. Everything has been so well thought out and items like the couches and chairs were commented how comfortable and soft they were. One of the things that really felt like luxury to me was how big the adapted bathroom was. The shower plinth we ordered was able to be moved about with plenty of room which compared to our bathrooms at home was just incredible. The only thing I would say that if you didn’t drive it would be a bit out the way but as we had 2 cars/drivers with us it was perfect for exploring Thank you for all during your stay and we will hopefully be back very soon.

Carers residential

Such a lovely place to discover for our residential break with carers and their cared for person. Our group was large and diverse with elderly people with limited mobility to young adults with global development delay and profound disabilities. The accommodation was large, clean and welcoming and accessible for all with lovely views and ample outdoor space to sit and eat and relax. Cake and milk and coffee available on arrival which was a really nice addition - help and welcoming staff throughout. Great location- close to the beach and other places such a St Andrews a short drive away. Kitchen and bathroom facilities excellent. The kitchen had ample space and equipment for us to prepare meals and was easy to clean, We would definitely like to return.

Superb facilities in a beautiful location! We could not get a break away together if a facility like this did not exist. Will definitely book again.

Gorgeous lodge

Emsdorf is a lovely lodge with great accessible features - great size wet room (sink a bit low for my husband) and easy to move around the living space. You need assistance in the kitchen as worktops aren't movable and the hob and microwave etc are too high to use independently but still a lovely space. There is some kind of alarm system throughout which has small bright green lights - if you're sensitive to light at night, bring an eye mask as they're like a sort of night light that you can't turn off. We love Homelands but missed the view from the original lodges so will likely still try to book the original accommodation for future. Always super clean and beautiful, we'll be back!

The house would benefit from additional lighting in the kitchen corner/sink, otherwise the house suited our needs.

Beautiful property

We had a lovely break at Emadorf. The property was beautiful, very clean, spacious with everything you would need for your break. It was fully accessible in a lovely community of properties. The location was also perfect, right in the heart of Fife with lots of lovely places to visit nearby. We loved a walk to the beach each day (not accessible for wheelchairs) with the kids and spotted lots of wildlife. Would definitely come back. Thanks for a lovely break.
