Alfama (CASTELO/Miradouro St.Luzia) - Duplex with AC - river/neighborhood view - up to 6 PAX
THE AFONSO HENRIQUES MOUSTACHE HOME
The mustache is something that is in the history of the Portuguese, in the past it was common to associate it with the women of the villages, the taxi drivers and the police, among others. Today we are prettier but the mustache is still in our imagination. The name of this house is a tribute to the oldest mustache owner of the country, D. Afonso Henriques the first King of Portugal. This house is located in one of the oldest and most typical neighborhoods of the city, the São Jorge Castle neighborhood, conquered by the Moors in 1147 by D. Afonso Henriques. Now it's your turn to conquer the charms of Lisbon, start the day with the magnificent view of the city and the river from the window, go out to visit the emblematic monuments, smell the smells of traditional foods and the soul of fado. Do not be afraid to exhaust your energy, because at the end of the day you can rest while drinking a nice glass of Portuguese red wine, in a comfortable house, where the rooms have beds with high comfort orthopedic mattresses and everything you need, as if were in their own home. Share this experience with family or friends, this fantastic home can accommodate up to 6 people.
Neighborhood Castelo one of the oldest districts of Lisbon and through which many mustaches of all social classes and nationalities have passed through history. Few cities in Europe allow you to enjoy a house that is almost inside a medieval castle. The narrow streets make it easy to get to know the neighborhood, quick access to all points of interest and even the other historic neighborhoods on the castle hill, such as Alfama. Find smiles around every corner and wet your mustache in unforgettable snacks whenever you can. Fall in love with the fantastic view and the river that carries the spirit of Lisbon. And if you want to know other places, don't worry it's all close to you, transport to any other historical area, to the beaches or Sintra are just a few minutes. But before leaving far away you can not miss:
- São Jorge Castle: Imagine yourself a king and discover this building that protects the city with more than ten centuries, one of the seven hills of Lisbon not to be missed..
- Mouraria: a neighborhood that seems to have people from all over the world, a true cultural and gastronomic rainbow.
- Portas do sol viewpoint: It is an open balcony type space that will record this city and our river forever in your heart. From here you can observe the labyrinthine streets of the Alfama district, as well as some emblematic monuments. Get ready for superb views.
- Sé de Lisboa: an iconic church of the city, built after the conquest of the city by the Moors by D. Afonso Henriques. It is an imposing building in which you can observe a mix of architectural styles, classified as a National Monument since 1910..
- Azurara Palace: a beautiful space that exposes and boosts the Portuguese Decorative Arts, contains a collection of these unique arts in the country..
- Casa dos Bicos - José Saramago Foundation Headquarters: the house that probably has the most original façade of this area of the city, if not the entire city. Casa dos Bicos is where José Saramago Foundation operates today, which hosts the works and a permanent exhibition on the life of the writer, Nobel Prize for Literature. Also in this building you can visit the Archaeological Center of the Museum of the City of Lisbon, with a fantastic collection that goes through the history of the city since the Roman occupation until the eighteenth century.
A few more minutes on foot or by taking tram 28, you can visit:
- National Pantheon: monument where are buried historical figures of the country, such as the fearless Vasco da Gama or the fiva diva Amália Rodrigues;
- Flea Market: (second-hand objects market) on Tuesdays and Saturdays; São Vicente Convent: a beautiful space with a breathtaking view of the city.
- Fado Museum and Portuguese Guitar: This is for sure a different museum, with instruments, history, culture and one of the best ways to understand the “nostalgia” that inspires this musical style..
- Tile Museum: Pottery is one of the oldest and most interesting activities in the country, in this museum you can learn the history and see some of the most fascinating examples of this industry.

Fantastic and convenient location in Alfama. Apartment was clean and had personality. And plenty of beds for people with a bigger group. Also very nice views from the windows.
Adorable apartment!! Was perfect for our stay and could walk everywhere...Nela the house keeper was there to greet us and gave us great recommendations on what to see and where to eat. Place was very clean.Thank you
Felicidade was so accommodating. We loved our stay here and really enjoyed Lisbon! Her recommendations for dinner were spot on and the apartment is in the right part of the city for everything you need. We loved our stay here.
Served our purpose very well! Enjoyed our stay and the location was great. Guests would be well advised to take Uber from the airport and to know that there are 3 flights of stairs to the unit. Host communication was very good.
This apartment was perfectly situated and an easy walk to many of the sites. Easily accommodated our family of 5 and was wonderful to have an immaculate, well stocked kitchen. Felicidade gave us a lot of good restaurant and sightseeing tips. Definitely recommend this place highly!
The apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed - except for a drip coffee maker which our host Felicidade made a special trip to buy one for the apartment. It is close to restaurants, grocery store, tourist areas etc. All walkable. I would fully recommend Felicidade's apartment The only comment I have is that if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke that on occasion we could smell the smoke from units in the building.
Staying in Alfama was a great choice, and this property did not disappoint. First of all, the view from the windows was exceptional. The property is located near a significant overlook of the city, surrounded by several cafés and the ability to pick up tuktuk tours. Felicidade was an exceptional host, providing lots of information about good restaurants that nearby markets. Hint: there is an elevator in the Pingo Doce market that saves some of the climbing.
Loved staying here. Alfama has lovely cobblestone streets and lots of restaurants. It was just near the tram, castle and viewing spots and we could walk everywhere. Lisbon is a hilly area of course but lovely to explore. Felicidade was always available if we needed information . The cleaner met us on arrival. The apartment has everything you need and a 2 nd floor for family or friends.
This is a great place but there are a lot of stairs. We were able to drag two large suitcases up 4 sets of stairs so it’s manageable for those without mobility issues.
This apartment was in a lovely neighborhood within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to visit. We are able to walk and climb so it worked for us.
Perhaps we didnt read or even ask but this cute apartment is up 5 flights of steps and no elevator!! Otherwise this was a great stay!! Great location, all the amenities of home and the owner was very responsive!! Would definitely recommend!
Spacious and clean with wonderful views. Odd configuration of the lower level with bed in between kitchen area and dining table / sitting area. Very good, helpful communication with Felicidade .
Such a great apartment with beautiful views and within walking distance of the castle. Apartment was clean upon arrival and host was easily accessible via text before and throughout our stay. Great location to explore other Lisbon neighborhoods. We throughly enjoyed our stay here while in Alfama. This apartment is a gem!

The property was super clean and spacious for a family of five. It has breath-taking view of the bay and water ways. The owner definitely cares about his guests. He made it very easy for us by providing helpful tips for where to park the car, checking in/out and what to do around the apartment and area. As a family we like walking, the fact that the old town is on the hill, so as the apartment, was not a problem for us. I would certainly chose this place again if we visit Lisbon in the future.
We had an exceptional stay at this apartment in the historic Alfama district of Lisbon. We knew ahead of time that it would be a multi-story walk-up—58 steps to be exact—and that was actually one of the things I loved most about it. That said, you should be in reasonably good shape to stay here. The apartment itself was perfect for our family of five. It was clean, well-maintained, and felt like a true home away from home. The location is unbeatable—truly one of the best in all of Lisbon, in my opinion. From here, the city is incredibly walkable, and we loved immersing ourselves in the local lifestyle, right down to hanging laundry on the line outside. The history and charm of the apartment are palpable, and everything about the experience made us feel like temporary locals rather than tourists. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in an authentic, character-filled home in one of Lisbon’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Pictures are accurate. Location is absolutely perfect to visit the tourist areas of Lisbon. There are TukTuks and transportation easily accessible. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Plenty of space, beds, and restrooms in this flat for multiple families. One thing that I wish I had known before selecting this flat is that you must walk up four flights of stairs to get to the flat (there is no lift) and then if you are in the upstairs rooms another flight of stairs with a very narrow stairwell. If you're a person who is American size XXL you are not likely to be able to go up those stairs.
Central location and a very peaceful, quiet night sleep
The location of the duplex apartment was ideal for us, as we needed the extra space for 2 adults to sleep separately. Great views, well equipped, clean and comfortable, it was a good choice for a good value place to stop for a few nights. The Baixa district is a 10 min walk via the lifts behind the castle, and the 28E tram was just outside to get around.
We had the added bonus of the 'meeting point' for the 'Treasures of Lisboa' food tour was just around the corner too. Highly recommended too. Felicidade kept us informed about the booking, and helped us with a restaurant booking, and transfers. Thank you
My husband and another couple stayed 3 nights before we headed out on a cruise. What a wonderful surprise! This apartment was in the perfect location...right in the middle of everything. A 10-minute walk to the grocery store or Castelo de S. Jorge, a 15-minute walk to Praça do Comércio and the shopping district, and steps away from restaurants and views! The 28 tram and Bus 737 are within a block, so your pathway to Lisbon is literally outside the apartment door! The apartment itself was well equipped with everything you need, a cold refrigerator, a hot shower and as advertised, a duplex with lots of room! Felicidade was so accommodating; any question I had was immediately answered AND if you have transportation needs (re: from the airport to her apartment or from the apartment to the cruise ship terminal), she'll make the calls for you. Don't let the stairs to the apartment intimidate you (to be honest, there are a lot of them)...it's definitely worth the climb and you'll get to call it exercise, too. I definitely recommend this place..
