Upon arrival the property was clean and as advertised. Property is in a quiet area and a great location to get around on the island. Would stay here again!
We drove down from Canada to meet up with friends and really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! We had everything we needed for our stay, the beds were comfortable, and we were happy to be so close to Acadia for some excellent hiking. We really appreciated the hike suggestions in the cottage guidebook!
The property is well located on the island, easy access to towns, restaurants and scenic drives, yet in a nice, quiet forested area. Limited light pollution and clear skies at night allowed for excellent stargazing. Host is very attentive.
We enjoyed our stay very much. A nice quiet area close to everything. An unexpected storm with very strong winds caused a few problems with power out and trees down on the road but the cottage kept us unscathed.
This cottage provided us with a convenient place to stay close to Acadia National Park. Cozy living room and dining room, with a deck off the back. Nice owners who provide a binder of recommendations for local hiking and dining.
We had a wonderful time in Acadia coming back to this comfy cottage after our adventures! We ended up coming a day earlier than planned and luckily house was available and the owner was quick to respond and help us check in early. Plenty of room for our family if 4! Perfect cottage in a perfect setting!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was easy to access different points in Acadia National Park and other spots on Mt. Desert Island. There was plenty of room for four adults, and we enjoyed a fire pit one night when it wasn't raining.
This cabin was great for two couples, super clean and comfortable, loved the backyard fire pit and easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
We highly recommend the cabin! The only note to keep in mind is that the bathroom has two doors, one of which is a shared door with one of the bedrooms so it's good to have a level of comfort with the people you're sharing the cabin with.
We loved this comfortable cottage! It was the perfect size for our family (2 adults, 3 kids). The kids loved their loft rooms upstairs (2 twins and a queen) and seeing the deer in the yard every day. We also loved the location. It's situated in a great central area, we could be almost anywhere on the island in under 30 min (with summer traffic). Loved it, hope we can make it back again someday!
We loved this spot - away from the crowds in Bar Harbor but close to everything that Mt Desert and Acadia have to offer. Loved the visits from the deer every evening! The house was well-appointed and comfortable, with everything our family needed for a great holiday. Highly recommend.
Great little cottage! We used this as our base to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor. Only 15 minutes away and no traffic. We also enjoyed canoeing on Long Pond. My kids (14 and 10) loved having their own space upstairs and seeing the deer in the backyard.
We enjoyed the historic elements of this 100+ year-old cabin, as well as the excellent location. Plenty of parking, well-stocked kitchen, updated kitchen, bath and laundry. Patio was serene with visiting deer family. More interior lights would be nice in the dining room and living room. Would definitely book this cottage again!
Could not have asked for a more relaxing rental. Great central location to the town and Acadia Kitchen was fully equipped. Beds were comfy and there were plenty of extra blankets Grandson loved running around the spacious yard. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing stay Would absolutely come back here. Landlord was quick to respond to our questions. He went above and beyond Thank you
My family thoroughly enjoyed our “home base” at the cabin during our visit to Acadia. The kitchen was well-appointed and the whole cabin was clean and lovely.
My only complaints are the mattress in the first floor bedroom felt worn out and a couple more lamps in the dining and living rooms would really help during the evening.
Thanks for the memories!
This home was very cozy and had lots of character. The home is very nice with lots of natural light coming in which isn’t obvious in the pictures. The yard was great for my 5 year old to run around. The bathroom had a nice shower with good pressure and plenty of hot water.
We loved the stove it got really hot quickly making cooking easy. The home owners have basics on had which makes it convenient. We were 12 mins from SouthWest Harbor and only 19 mins from Bar Harbor so this was perfect for exploring the whole island and coming back to a quiet place to rest and recharge.
The location of this cottage is really quite wonderful. It is conveniently and centrally located on MDI with little to no traffic on the road that it sets. This is a quiet retreat and the surrounding trees clearly distinguish this property that also has a yard. We happened to use it for some frisbee on one of the only nights that it did not rain during our stay. The owners and their manager were great and quick to respond to our inquiries ahead of and at the beginning of our stay. The accommodations were comfortable and again this location is wonderful for accessing Southwest and Northeast Harbors in a very respectable amount of time. While my husband and I do not have any children and only used the first floor during our stay, the second floor sleeps four additional people and is quite ideal for children. Closing, I appreciated the location, outside living space, and simplicity that this quiet family cottage had to offer enough. We certainly hope to return for future trips to MDI.
This original house was built in 1894, and has been lovingly well decorated and designed in antiques and cozy cottage decor. We felt transported into the early 1900's in terms of simplicity and character of an older property's eclectic charm, so don't think perfection in construction-the downstairs bedroom floor is uneven and the stairs to the loft are steep, hence charm. The kitchen was clean and functional to make a great dinner for 4, complete with a new Italian oven. No dishwasher but no biggie. Highlights were wildlife on the property-a porcupine and deer in the yard, among peace and quiet except for beautiful Maine birds singing in the morning. Close enough to Acadia (20 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor) but nice to drive the quiet side for tide-pooling and fewer tourists. David, the owner, was quick in response to an oven issue which was resolved quickly and was a real gem of a guy to chat with too. This place would be great for couples to cozy down and slow down. The upstairs loft was cute for my kids, 9 and 13, there were books and games and low key non-tech. fun. We roasted marshmallows and ate dinner on the porch. Not a bells and whistles property, just simple and quiet.Clean sheets, clean towels, washer dryer in the bathroom as a convenience. Mapquest not accurate in directions when you get the address, but common sense will get you there.
We enjoyed our stay. Cottage is in a quiet area close to Acadia and the carriage roads. Looked forward to the deers visiting.

My family and I had a great time at the cabin! It had so much to offer. There were plenty of kitten gadgets and a working grill so we could enjoy a home cooked meal. There was a house mouse that hung out with us during our stay, but all of us are campers and weren’t bothered. Communication was great with the owner!
Quaint house in the woods. Clean, nice laundry and bathroom. Living area was sunny and comfy. Good location for visiting the area around Acadia National Park.
We had a lovely stay at this cabin. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen and bath nice. Close to the park and all the things we wanted to do. There was enough in the kitchen that we cooked some meals in. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The only recommendation I would make was for him to add a shower bar in the shower as we traveled with elderly parents and they would have used that. Other than that we loved the house and loved Acadia!
Property was well maintained. Location was great for hiking.

We love this home! We have lived in New England our whole lives. We enjoy Acadia National Park and are enthusiastic backpackers. We love long distance hikes and living near the ocean.
Why they chose this property
So quiet. Charming historic property minutes from the Park and surrounded by beautiful ponds, canoeing and hiking. Rent a canoe at the foot of our road! The carriage roads are so pretty and we recommend the Precipice Trail
