It is located on a quiet tree lined street, walking distance from Kit Carson Park, historic Taos Plaza, and many galleries and restaurants. This is an absolutely charming place to stay! We loved the many tasteful southwestern touches that give it the historic charm mentioned in the description. It was an artist’s house and his work is displayed throughout. It’s far enough from the main drag to be very peaceful and quiet; we slept well. The front porch and garden were an additional lovely place to spend time and listen to the birds singing and the wind chimes making their gentle sound. The hostess was extremely responsive; when we asked for an additional key she cheerfully provided one. I highly recommend this pueblo casita, which has that artistic flair Taos is known for. One note: although the house is one story, there are a number of small steps up and down (mentioned in the description) between the rooms and for someone who is balance-challenged or unsure on their feet it might take some extra care at first until it becomes familiar. We were fine with it.

Authentic, Beautiful and Comfortable - ABC

Just a perfect house to stay in Taos if you want to get the local vibe of adobe homes plus comfort. This house is beautifully furnished with great local art and furniture. The kitchen is not a gourmet”s dream but has all that you need if you choose to cook. Local restaurants are so good you may not bother to cook.

Experience Taos

This clean and quirky traditional style house is full of original art and cozy furnishings. Right off the main street, yet amazingly quiet. If you can pull yourself away from the house, you are within walking distance of everything downtown Taos has to offer. Barely over a mile in the other direction to Taos Pueblo. Very responsive host. wonderful to visit any time of the year.

This is true Taos. Great location! We loved our “Taos House”!

The house has such charm, with many of the original owners’ furnishings and art, which adds to the character of the place. We used the lovely fireplace every night and the fully stocked kitchen every morning. Laura is a gracious, helpful owner. The location couldn’t be more ideal! We plan to return as soon as possible!

Outstanding location and house

We enjoyed our stay at the hacienda. We could comfortably walk to shops and restaurants. We were eager to see the architecture and art of the house and we were not disappointed. We loved the fireplace. Property manager responded super fast to potential issue and worked quickly to offer a solution. We will definitely return.

Best spot in Taos

Wonderful stay in a beautiful property with all the comforts of home. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. We loved that it was on a quiet street, yet it was within walking distance of the town square and many local popular restaurants. We didn’t have any pets with us but this would be a great place if you are traveling with a dog, because of the nice enclosed front and back yard. If you appreciate staying in an authentic 1950s adobe home, this property will not disappoint. We really hated to leave and will come back in the future when exploring Taos, Santa Fe and Ghost Ranch. 💙💙💙

A Step into the Past

This is an old, well maintained traditional adobe home. Some doorways are short and some rooms have steps into them. The ambience is thick with the history of Taos. The yard had blooming lilacs and tulips. The kitchen was well equipped. It was a lovely place to stay for our 55th anniversary. The host was very helpful and stayed in close contact when we had questions. We loved it.

Spring Break Ski Trip

This property is as authentic Taos as you can get, from the architecture to the artwork. We only stayed for 3 nights, but could have easily stayed longer. It was an easy walk to restaurants and bars, an easy drive up to Taos Ski Valley, and when we were at the house, we found everything necessary to prepare meals and feel at home. Everything worked & this property is very well maintained. The fenced in front yard was perfect for the dogs to enjoy and we hope to return in the future. Laura was easy to communicate with & provided a quick response when needed.

We enjoyed our stay here. This is a spacious old adobe home with lots of character, almost entirely furnished with antiques.. The one qualification to that statement is that the single bathroom is quite small but still functional.

Nice Place in Taos!

Very nice and cool place with a great location in Taos right off the main street. Walking distance and/or a *very* short drive to things to see and do in town. Me, my wife, and her mother stayed here for a family event nearby (our youngest son was getting engaged) and we all enjoyed out stay. My only quibbles are that there is no A/C (and the owner clearly states that) and it did get a *tad* warm at night (I'm from Texas and I'm used to A/C so there you go!) but it wasn't insufferable at all. Also, the grass in the backyard area was a little high -- but we didn't go out back anyway. We did use the kitchen to cook 2 nights and it was furnished adequately. There's no dishwasher, so I'd recommend washing pots/pans and cooking/eating utensils before use. I'll also note that there's only 1 bathroom, so that may be a bit of a challenge for a large group. For us with just 3, it was fine. We'll definitely stay here again if and when we return to Taos!

Excellent Adobe Home!

This home was warm and inviting with everything we needed. A property in beautiful Taos with a great family history, this home had a scrapbook that told stories of the property in words and photographs. If you love books, the owner has you covered. The porch was private and a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful birds and cool Taos mornings and nights. The location is perfect. Close to the Plaza, yet far enough to feel secluded. Laura was a great host, and I highly recommend this property!

Taos get away

Staying at this authentic, historic property was such a treat, like staying in a mini museum. We were really immersed in the Southwest vibe. The kitchen was adequately supplied and a washer and drier on site was very convenient. Great location for walking to restaurants, shops and a museum, yet on a quiet side street. If we visited Taos again, we'd stay again in a heartbeat!

Excellent NM feel and beauty.

The Southwestern feel and beautiful interior make you feel right at home. The art work and decor is perfect! The house and exterior fenced back yard are excellently maintained with beautiful flowers and vines. Loved that patio for breakfast and sitting outside at night. Location is great for walking into Taos downtown and art community. We will be back!

The hacienda has been in our family since it was built in 1945 by our grandparents, Charles and Ruth Reynolds. He was a painter who was drawn to Taos, like many others, because of it's amazing natural beauty, as well as it's unique cultural aspects. The Reynold's also had an art gallery on Kit Carson Road, and his work is still shown in galleries in Taos and Santa Fe. People often comment on the 'old world' charm that the house embodies. It has a comfortable elegance, with the modern amenities included.

Why they chose this property

This is our family home, built before we were born. We feel exceptionally grateful to have inherited it from our grandparents.

What makes this property unique

As the sun sets on a summer evening, you can hear the Taos Pueblo people singing and drumming from near-by. Their dances and festivals, in each season, are practically at your front door. Visitors are more that welcome to come and see the Deer dances in winter, San Geronimo day in the fall, and to experience Taos from an historical perspective. Sitting in front of a roaring pinion fire in winter, surrounded by original Taos art and furniture, is truly an enchanting experience. The house has unique architectural details that may make it difficult for folks with mobility issues. There is one step down into the home, and one step up to the kitchen/dining area and the bathroom. Please let me know if you have questions.
