Traditional Taos home built by Pueblo builders for renowned Taos artist Charles Reynolds and his wife Ruth. Home is furnished with original antiques and paintings from the era. It is located on a quiet tree lined street, walking distance from Kit Carson Park, historic Taos Plaza, and many galleries and restaurants. The large, shady front porch is perfect for an outdoor meal, and the Pueblo of Taos, oldest inhabited village in North America, is less than two miles away. The world class ski resort of Taos Ski Valley is a twenty minute drive north, and the spectacular Rio Grande Gorge, with whitewater rafting, fly-fishing and hot springs, is even closer. Come immerse yourself in the real Taos, with it's amazing natural beauty and it's unique cultural influence, unlike anywhere in the USA. The larger side has two bedrooms and a day bed in the living room, and one twin in its own cubby, and one full bath. Sleeps five guests maximum. Prices listed are for the larger side of the duplex. If more space is needed please let me know. Likewise, if your group is small you may want the smaller apartment. Please take a look at VRBO #969436 to see the other side of this duplex. It has one bedroom with a queen size bed, and two twin beds. It sleeps four comfortably. For larger parties of up to nine the entire home can be rented.
Please take note, this house has a unique architecture which includes steps and low doorways in a couple of areas. There is signage to warn of this, but tall people must use caution.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Haas

The hacienda has been in our family since it was built in 1945 by our grandparents, Charles and Ruth Reynolds. He was a painter who was drawn to Taos, like many others, because of it's amazing natural beauty, as well as it's unique cultural aspects. The Reynold's also had an art gallery on Kit Carson Road, and his work is still shown in galleries in Taos and Santa Fe. People often comment on the 'old world' charm that the house embodies. It has a comfortable elegance, with the modern amenities included.
Why they chose this property
This is our family home, built before we were born. We feel exceptionally grateful to have inherited it from our grandparents.
What makes this property unique
As the sun sets on a summer evening, you can hear the Taos Pueblo people singing and drumming from near-by. Their dances and festivals, in each season, are practically at your front door. Visitors are more that welcome to come and see the Deer dances in winter, San Geronimo day in the fall, and to experience Taos from an historical perspective. Sitting in front of a roaring pinion fire in winter, surrounded by original Taos art and furniture, is truly an enchanting experience. The house has unique architectural details that may make it difficult for folks with mobility issues. There is one step down into the home, and one step up to the kitchen/dining area and the bathroom. Please let me know if you have questions.
