About this property
Peaceful private woodland home, open and airy, with ocean views and fire pit
Tucked quietly away, up overlooking the harbor and a sea of pine and spruce trees, you can peacefully escape to Waterview Hideaway in Southwest Harbor. Surrounded by the sounds of singing birds, with frequent visits from the large local deer population, you’ll feel as though you are a world away. Yet you can walk down the hill to the center of Southwest Harbor in less than 10 minutes for a lobster roll and an ice cream cone.
Located on the quiet side of the island, phenomenal hiking, biking, kayaking, and swimming are only minutes away. Within 10 minutes, you can be at the trailhead of some of the much less traveled, yet equally spectacular mountains of Acadia National Park: Beech, Bernard, Mansell, St. Sauveur and Acadia peaks. If a flat hike is more your speed, take in the breathtaking ocean vistas from the Wonderland or Ship’s Harbor trails in Southwest Harbor, 15 minutes away. If you are looking for a great swimming location, Echo lake’s beach is 8 minutes away (and is much warmer than swimming at Sand Beach in Bar Harbor on the Park Loop Road). If you’re seeking lobster or seafood, Beal’s Lobster Pier, 8 minutes away, is up there with the best of the best. Very private, yet centrally located, Waterview Hideaway is your hub for all of your Park adventures.
While at the house, enjoy the spacious and open living room with high ceilings and a propane fireplace. If cooking at home, everything is at your fingertips in the galley kitchen. The dining room can comfortably seat six. A spiral staircase leads up to the loft with a queen size sleeper sofa, two desks with monitors, the master bathroom and master bedroom with king size bed. Enjoy some of the best views in the house from the screened in porch located off of the loft. In the evenings, cozy up to the fire at night while roasting marshmallows for s’mores in the newly built fire pit.
A separate unfinished cabin is also included, with an additional king size bed and small second bedroom with a twin size bed. In the cabin is a small kitchen, dining table, and full bathroom.
