This unique property features three walls of glass affording panoramic vistas of the coast and surrounding bushland.

Location Details

Island Beach is the premier beachfront holiday destination on Kangaroo Island.

It is located in the middle of Eastern Cove which stretches from Kangaroo Head to Ballast Point.

Island Beach is a 5km stretch of white sandy beach located approximately 16kms from Penneshaw and the ferry terminal. This safe swimming beach is perfect for a range of aquatic activities and in particular a paradise for anglers.

The Glasshouse is a fully furnished, self-contact property consisting of 2 living areas, 4 bedrooms two luxury bathrooms and an upstairs powder room and accommodates up to 10 people.

Short getaway

Had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful property for three nights. (Wish we could have stayed longer) Robert is a wonderful host with prompt responses to any of our questions. Spectacular views and steps from the beach we found The Glasshouse to be spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The open fire place is magnificent with plenty of firewood supplied. 5⭐️

The Glasshouse - Perfect name

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. The views are spectacular and the access to Island beach makes it ideal for families. We would recommend this house. Everything we needed was there. The house was spacious and immaculately clean. We loved barbecuing on the deck admiring the view but the kitchen also had excellent facilities. Communication with the host was also excellent. We even had a huge kangaroo come to visit.

Great property for a large family. Views are sensational. Very bright inside. It was lacking a few personal touches ie shampoos/soaps/welcome basket etc which probably is insignificant but with hiring the property over Christmas and paying a premium price this would have perfected the property.

Beautiful property with plenty of room for two families. Excellent facilities, everything was clean and good quality. Communication with Robert was friendly and efficient. Island Beach is stunning and quiet so we loved it, but you definitely need to drive to go anywhere and self-catering is the way to go here. Would love to stay again!

Great spot overlooking Island Beach

Really enjoyed our stay at the Glasshouse, pity the weather wasn’t better so we could have swum at Island Beach which is just across the road. The house was very well equipped (apart from a strange lack of power points in the kitchen) and we particularly appreciated the fact the kids could be banished to the downstairs lounge for some peace & quiet! Would happily stay here again.

Incredible home in the perfect location

This house is amazing. The views are second to none and you are just steps from the beach. Perfect stay for a couple of families and young kids will love Island Beach. Host Robert was fantastic. We will definitely be back again soon.

Don't book this house.

We paid a premium rate for this house and from the photos on VRBO we thought this house would be a good splurge with great rewards. We were so wrong, we were absolutely conned, this place was TERRIBLE. There was no wifi as stated and some unconvincing excuses from the owner that this was a recent problem, unbelievably no rubbish bags for the rubbish bin which was dirty and cracked and at least 10 yrs old. The dustpan and brush near the rubbish bin should have been discarded many many years ago. Filthy, damaged, truly a stomach turner. There was a dirty tissue (has the owner heard of Covid?) and dead flies in the master bathroom. The blinds were black with dirt. Everything was dusty and dirty - crumbs in the cutlery drawer, food on the oven tray. The extend of the cleanliness issue goes beyond one slap dash cleaner. Holes in the sofa, chairs were worn and dirty. Imagine a tired student house in a busy University town. It was just the same. Dirty windows and cobwebs everywhere. The bathmats were foul. Broken light fittings, cooker hob broken, no oven light. Fireplace was falling off the wall. Literally- it was partially detached from the wall. We contacted the owner immediately and his partner said he would call us back which he never did, he said he would bring over rubbish bin liners which he never did. I sent a text to say that we needed the house to be cleaned and he said that was not possible. So we asked for compensation and he didn't get back to us until the next day and his offer was to leave straight away and not have to pay for night two. Was that supposed to be compensation? Obviously that was impossible as we had no internet, no 4G and nowhere to go. I am sure the property would have been good in its day as the photos suggested . No question that the location is terrific but there has not been one bit of upkeep on this property. Do not stay here.

Short break in our home state

As a short break we chose to come see Kangaroo Island and saw the Glasshouse on Stayz website- it looked fabulous and on arrival it was even more fabulous- we found it met all needs and then some ! The views and location are world class and ever changing of a beautiful ocean - even a morning crow we called Fred came for his regular snacks. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a five star break in paradise

Island Paradise

Stunning home overlooking beautiful Island beach. Views, especially at sunset were breathtaking. We were a party of 9 (2 families) holidaying together over the Easter break. Robert's home was beautiful, well appointed, and very comfortably accommodated our group. It was a gorgeous place to come back to at the end of our busy days exploring the island. The kitchen was well equipped with excellent quality appliances, making cooking at home (even while on holiday) an enjoyable experience. The kids loved that the beach was literally a stone throw away! We'd love to return one day. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
