Our family vacation home sits on property that has been in our family for over 65 years. We put a new home on the property in 2006 and it is up to date with beautiful bamboo plank flooring and a combination of farm house and vintage furnishings. A huge back deck over looks Lake Becky at one of the best view points on the lake. This is our home away from home so it is tastefully accented with cherished momentos of our grandparents and parents and there are family photos. We hope you will feel a part of our family. Note about accessibility of home and lake. There are 3 steps to enter the front of the house. From the deck there are 3 different staircases that lead to the back yard with at least 10 stair steps down. Then there is one additional stair case of 10 or more steps down to the lake. All staircases have hand rails, but if you are handicapped this is not recommended that you use the stairs.
Enjoy the convenience of a washing machine and dryer, ensuring you can pack light and keep your clothes fresh throughout your stay. Curl up on the comfortable sofa and lose yourself in a movie on the smart TV, or explore the extensive video library. Venture outside and soak in the serene lake views from the balcony, or gather around the fire pit for a memorable evening under the stars.
Just a short 6-minute drive away, Oconee State Park offers a world of outdoor exploration, from hiking trails to waterfalls and scenic vistas. For a deeper connection with nature, the National Forest is a 17-minute drive away, providing endless opportunities for hiking, wildlife spotting, and immersing yourself in the great outdoors. With free WiFi, a desk and chair for remote work, and a travel crib for families, this vacation home caters to all your needs, ensuring a truly relaxing and rejuvenating stay.
Borrow our canoe or kayak for a relaxing paddle around the private lake, or jump in for a cool dip.
In November thru Feb 1 of each year the lake is lowered for dock repairs. Since we are on the deep end of the lake we still have good lake views.
The house is not set up for young non children swimming and there are no childproof locks on cabinets. There are no barricades to the lake or life guards. We do not recommend for non swimming children.

We are so happy you enjoyed our family retreat! We do hope you come again. Debbie
Had a wonderful time with friends at this terrific destination. Well appointed and awesome communication with host. Will definitely be back!! Thanks Debra!
We had a fabulous week at the lake and enjoyed the personal touches. We commented multiple times how it felt like a family home and not a stark rental. House included everything we needed, including a few life jackets for a summer lake float!

So glad you had a great time, you were great guests too and we hope you come back soon.
You will totally love your stay at this lake house. Easy to get to and beautiful views. Coffee in the morning on the deck. Dinner in the evening while watching the boats go by. Would recommend this lake house to everyone. If you are looking for even a weekend get away I would pick this home. I personally cannot wait for next year. Also the fall colors would be amazing to see.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay! We do hope you will come again.
The home is on a quiet little lake. The home and the lake were very clean. There is a dock you can easily walk to for fishing or relaxing. We took floats and enjoyed floating on the lake. There is a fire pit area on the lakes edge which makes for a perfect stargazing evening. The deck is as large and inviting as the photo. There was ample parking for our family coming together from 3 different cities. The kitchen is well equipped. We got takeout one night from the cafe located close to the home. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet private getaway.
This was a Father’s Day trip, and he loves to fish. My 88 year old father had a hard time with the stairs. I asked about the stairs & was told there were 3 down to the yard and one more to get on the dock.! There was A LOT of stairs.!!
Also, there was spider webs everywhere inside & out.
Otherwise our trip was wonderful. The house is beautiful, love how well stocked it was. Location is very peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you for all the memories.

Hello Dawn I’m happy you had a good time and sorry you misunderstood what I said about the stairs. I had said there were 3 sets of stairs from the deck to the ground and another set down to the dock. Each set of stairs has at least 12 steps. I also said there were only 4; steps to the front of the house I’m very sorry if that was not clear. All steps have handrails my description of the property also talks about the stairs down to the lake.
We had not been there for a couple of weeks and those spiders do take over quickly in the country. Thanks for letting me know
We loved staying at this charming lake house. The house has everything that you could need and was very cozy and nicely decorated. It is located in a very quiet area nestled amongst the tress on a beautiful lake that has great fishing! It is centrally located to many local activities like white water rafting, zip lining, hiking to waterfalls and river tubing. Everything was about an hour away or less. If you want to get away from it all and have everything close this is the place. The kayaks and canoe were a plus to have along with the life jackets and floats for the lake. We appreciated the fans that were available in every room as we use a fan for sleeping. We enjoyed looking at the seashell collection and various newspaper articles and pictures about the family of Camp Cobb. There were no downsides to this lovely place. If you like to watch TV there is no cable TV but there were many DVDs to choose from. We don’t watch very much TV so it was a non issue for us and you could always bring your own firestick to plug into the smart TV in the living room.

Thank you so much for your kind comments about our lake retreat. There is also a Roku device on the smart tv which allows access to many apps. Thank you for leaving our home in such great shape we hope you can come again!
This is the second time in the past 3 years my wife and I have stayed at Debra Hansen's retreat on Lake Becky in Mountain Rest, SC. We had some friends stay with us during the first week of our stay. They were amazed at how clean the home was and how fully stocked with everything that one may need. All four of us really enjoyed floating on the lake with the floats that we brought with and taking in some of the many sites in close proximity to the house. My daughter and her boyfriend came up for three days during the second week of our stay. They also enjoyed the water plus going out on their own to see some of the great and picturest waterfalls in close proximity to the home.
If you are looking for a getaway where you can relax and take in the beauty of the lake, a house that is fully stocked with everything imaginable, and a host (Debra Hansen) that is very responsive to any question or issue you may have this is the retreat you should go to.
This is a beautiful lake home. The views are so pretty. It's tranquil and quiet. You have everything you need until you can get out to get what supplies you need for your stay. It's just what we needed from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hostess is kind, helpful, and responds immediately.
The lake house and location are awesome. Really beautiful views, plenty of amenities in the house. There is just a short walk to the pier, with canoe and kayak. There is a convenience store up the road with a wide variety of snacks, food, fishing supplies, etc and a short drive to town with a GIANT Ingles grocery store. Don't miss any of the local hiking opportunities or the spooky abandoned train tunnel! Lake Becky is great and the view from the back deck of the house is amazing. Thanks Debbie!

Thanks for allowing us to host you, we hope you can come again!
Mixed feelings. This home was clean, well-maintained and attractive on the inside with a nice back deck overlooking the lake. The location was a good launching spot for the things we wanted to do. But the surrounding neighborhood was trashy. Most homes were poorly maintained with junk filled yards.

Yes our home is the diamond of the neighborhood along with the homes all near us. It's just those few homes as you head down Baucknight Rd. If you enter via Lake Becky Road the homes are all well kept from that direction. I'm glad you still enjoyed your stay.
We had a little trouble with Roku tv, but problem was resolved very quickly. As it turned out our host did such a great job of cleaning that she accidently pushed Roku box under the tv so remote would not see front of Roku box. After a little investigation and with a flashlight, I noticed the Roku box pushed under the tv so all I had to do was lift the tv up a little and pull the Roku box to the front of the tv so the remote could now see the Roku box.
It was a very quiet area, with few people, at least the week we were there. However, it is quite a distance from any restaurants. One restaurant that was fairly close was closed due to COVID-19.
Great peaceful setting! We ate our meals on the deck overlooking Lake Becky. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with many extras available if needed. Our host, Debra, was very responsive and provided wondeful tips for waterfall viewing and other activities in the area. The location was in a great central spot for hiking in the area. Our family will stay again when we head back to Mountain Rest.
This land has been in our family for 60 years and we put a new home on it in 2006. I used to spend my child hood family vacations on this property with my Grandmother. It is peaceful and relaxing, we know you will enjoy it.
