Great weekend getaway!

The house was perfect for a weekend away from the madness of the city. We marveled at how quiet it was, and forgot about the stresses back home. It's pretty close to the town of Woodstock and everything around there also. And we can't forget how great the hot tub was for a chilly weekend like the one we were there. Will definitely be returning!

Embarrassed bringing my girlfriend there Place was filthy the hot tub was disgusting had brown slime all over it the stove in the kitchen was gross and the gas grill did not work When I got there I called the homeowner did a walk-through over the phone with me and everything that was wrong in the place he blamed on his Guests instead of taking responsibility for the maintenance on the property and then at the end when I called him and told him he asked me not to write a review and he would give me a good review and if I came back he would give me a discount I could’ve had a better time at a fleabag hotel soap in the bathrooms were used and had hair all over them a waste of good money would never go back very disappointed would not recommend anyone going there

He is what we call a scammer.all of this is completely untrue. The place is completely clean and if you read the other reviews you will see the truth. What he wanted was a refund so he complained and I graciously obliged. he got back 200 dollars as i always want to please my guests so I did. I never asked him not to write a bad review. Dont allow this person to stay at your place. He will complain and then ask for a refund. unfortunatley there are people like this who prey upon good hosts. Dont allow him to rent your place, you will be very sorry.

Disappointing

The cottage is not in Woodstock. It's about 15-20 minutes outside of Woodstock so be prepared to drive into town if you plan on doing any shopping, dining, etc. The owner has cats and while the place was definitely clean there was a good amount of cat hair on the furniture and in the bed. We are both allergic to cat hair and wish we'd known about the cat situation before booking. Also, the house was cold since the heat hadn't been turned on for the season in the bedroom area. The owner/manager clearly doesn't rent often. There were no contracts or written instructions provided by the owner. It took several weeks after checkout to get the refundable deposit back and only after several followup emails and a call to HomeAway to complain.

I am quite upset over their statements. They are simply untrue. 1 The cottage is about 9 miles from woodstock. it is clearly stated. 2 It clearly states in the property description that pets are allowed, and although the cleaning lady does an amazing job someone who is very allergic should be aware of this. 3 the house is rented most weekends, and the other reviews show the house is quite nice. 4 Information sheets were sent to them that explain everything and we did go over all the details by phone. 5 the heat was turned on, they simply didn't use them. 6 The deposit was sent back asap, it was not a lengthy process. The fact that they have waited over a month to post this clearly says to me something is not right with their thinking . They sent me a note saying how wonderful everything was and then after the fact posted this. At no time did they mention any issues, which I always ask of renters when they arrive. I would not recommend these people to other renters, as one can see from all my other reviews it is a wonderful place, these people are simply disingenuous......

Nice property 15 mins outside of woodstock

My bf & I booked this trip for right after Christmas. The property is in a quiet location & only 15 mins outside of town. Ford, the owner of the property, was very helpful in explaining the check-in details. It was a wonderful holiday vacation & we enjoyed it a great deal.

Not worth it

House was listed as sleeping 4, one bedroom, one loft bed. We were told we weren't supposed to use the loft but had no choice since it was the day before our trip when we were informed of this misrepresentation. Well, the loft "bed" was an old futon mattress on a wood platform with stained couch pillows and a pilly old comforter. The regular bedroom had a nest/cobweb the size of a football above the curtain that we had to scoop up and throw outside. The bed was uncomfortable and pillows were stained. Had to email several times for check-in instructions, key was not where instructed. Definitely could use basic upgrades and a deep clean. For the price, definitely not worth it.

Wonderful Place

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our weekend at the cottage. We went on a hike nearby and the fire burning stove and hot tub under the stars were wonderful to come back to. We even completed a fun puzzle that was part of the house offerings. The house itself was super lovely just like the pictures. We would love to come back again.

Lovely private cottage!

This cottage was totally private and really comfortable. If you are looking for relaxation this is your place. We spent the day in Woodstock and then headed out to Saugerties. Plenty to do in town but the cottage was great to get away from it all. Hot tub was lovely! Thanks for a great stay Ford!

Great getaway

My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary at this cute cabin in the woods! It's secluded and romantic and close to all the restaurants and shops of Woodstock! I never received the check-in worksheets so I didn't know where the key was located and we have no cell service here so we had to drive back to town (about 15 mins) to call the owner. He was super responsive and helpful and the rest of the weekend was great! Would totally recommend coming here!

Our favorite escape from the city!

Although we love discovering new places to stay, we keep coming back to this lovely cottage... there is much needed peace and quiet, the house is so cozy and homey. The hot tub is an absolute delight! We have now made a tradition to come relax here when New York city is getting on our nerves. I definitely recommend it :)

Lovely Tranquility Near Woodstock

We loved our stay at Ford's peaceful cottage getaway. We heard the gentle sound of the stream from the house, loved the option to use the hot tub conveniently situated right outside the main bedroom and accessible via the sliding glass doors. The surrounding woods lent such an air of peace and tranquility that we thoroughly de-stressed and were able to just be. The home was equipped with everything we needed plus a great gorgeous new looking red fireplace/heater in the main room, separate heater in the main bedroom. There was also a cozy little loft space/nook with a large mattress perfect for my occasionally bad back one night when I had insomnia. It seemed longer the night we arrived from our starting point at Woodstock, but, it is truly 8 miles and like 12 mins from The Bear Cafe at the start of Woodstock where we had a scrumptious birthday dinner and was so much closer when we went back to Woodstock under the light of day - I thoroughly and highly recommend Ford's lovely holiday/celebration getaway !!! Cozy and peaceful cottage

This charming cottage was perfect for my husband and our two dogs. It was quiet and secluded yet only a 20 minute drive from town. The loft was super warm and cozy and the hot tub was wonderful, although we did have a little trouble keeping it up to temperature but Ford was an excellent host and extremely responsive to this matter. He was just a phone call away and explained how to reset the hot tub, and offered to have it serviced the next day, which ended up not being necessary. Overall this cottage offered the perfect atmosphere for rest and relaxation.
