Acadia Cottage is very nice. We especially enjoyed the sunroom while it was snowing! The heaters worked well so we were always warm enough. Four things that could be improved: The kitchen faucet switch that allows you to go from spray to stream does not work so you can only use spray; the downstairs bathroom sink drain is VERY slow; the shower is very slippery and needs a mat; and the sheets and comforter on the main bed are polyester which definitely cheapened the bedtime experience for us! You need cotton bedding!
Beautiful little home near the Maine coast and Acadia
My husband, 2-year old son, and I had a wonderful long weekend here. The location was great-- very peaceful, right by a really neat little beach/tide pool area, and about 40-50 minutes from Acadia. The house was very nice and we had a lovely stay.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Used the porch every day or evening. Watched Deer and wild Turkeys with their little ones. We drove to the park everyday or Bar Harbor.
Amanda was wonderful to communicate with and we enjoyed her place. For hiking in Acadia, it’s a bit of a drive but there also a few nice things nearby to enjoy. If you plan on cooking, the kitchen is very under supplied but Amanda is happy to supply anything you may need.
This is a great place close to Bar harbor and Winter harbor. The place is very clean and bright. Theres lot to do in the space, with all the amenities you can think off. Highly recommended.

Amanda was excellent host and was very responsive to questions. Home was clean, cozy and comfortable for our family of 4 and dog. We enjoyed the proximity to the tidal falls which offered dark skies to observe the meteor showers and aurora borealis. Easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor (approx 45 mins).
The house was very clean and even had a little welcome package upon arrival. We cooked a few meals in the house and struggled somewhat with finding pots/pans and utensils to cook with but overall a good stay.
This house was a great location to explore Acadia and the surrounding coastal area. The house was impeccably clean and a great set up with a very comfortable living area to gather and visit in the evening. We appreciated having a full kitchen to prepare meals. Amanda was great to communicate with and even made sure there were lights on to welcome us when we arrived our first night later than we had expected to.
The photos of the property are accurate. The sun room is beautiful and inviting. There was a nice selection of toiletries and kitchen necessities available. The one complaint we had was the slipperiness of the shower. Otherwise our stay there was great!
The property was clean and had all the furnishings we needed. We enjoyed the proximity to Tidal Falls and ease of access to Acadia. The beds were very firm and the smaller bathroom was cramped. There wasn't even a space for a hand towel. But otherwise it suited our needs and was a nice retreat for the weekend.
Lovely home, well supplied. Location a little remote but quiet. The owner was friendly and helpful. Glassed in porch a big plus. Only negative was that the one full bath required one couple to pass thru the other couple’s bedroom to use the bathroom.
Beautifully remodeled cottage with gorgeous sunroom and large fully stocked kitchen!!
Perfect for family getaway to Downeast Acadia!! 5 minute walk to amazing Tidal Falls Preserve that has frequent outdoor live music festa. Clean, comfortable, well-appointed, and convenient cottage with A/C and smart TV! Adorable cast iron wood-burning stove for colder seasons. Outdoor grill and living area and plenty of parking and grassy yard area. A+++ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Place was on par and better than expected in some ways. Bonus-Wurlitzer Organ!
We had an enjoyable time overall. Beds on the shorter side but still super comfy.
Amanda was very accommodating when after a few days of heavy rain an inquiry about a dehumidifier for the lower level was accommodated immediately and did the trick for us. Very enjoyable.
Within walking diatance of the tidal flats - kids loved seeing the starfish!
House was great, thanks to the hosts for easy and fast communication.
Perfect distance to both Bar Harbor and Acadia
Basement bedrooms stayed nice and cool for sleeping (there in June), appreciated the sun room and living area upstairs for a rainy day (game time!)
Thanks again!

Had some quirks
Pretty disappointed with this visit. We killed many bugs and spiders. The house had a strong musty smell. The only window AC on the main floor was in a bathroom-keep the door open to cool the main floor. Small tv in the living room for the size of the room. Bathroom rugs were dirty. The beds were in the basement. The room shown on the listing with 2 beds is at the bottom of the steps, no door.

Displeased
The entrance was not very clean, leaves and pine needles all over the steps. We couldn’t stay in the master bedroom because there was a pet smell, plus, there is no heat down where the bedrooms were. The dryer is so full of lent, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a fire yet, it took almost 3 hours to dry some jeans. Also, the burners in the stove weren’t working properly, they would heat up, and then lose their heat. Lastly, it is not close to anything except the Tidal Falls.
We had a lovely stay at Amanda’s VRBO. The home is very newly renovated, with modern decor and is kept immaculately clean. The sunroom brings in a lot of light, and I imagine the fire adds a nice atmosphere (though you can’t use it in the summer months). The kitchen supplies are very limited, which wasn’t an issue for us since we didn’t do any cooking during our stay, but I can see this being a problem for those wanting to cook larger meals. Acadia National Park is a solid 45-50 minute drive away, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this home if you plan on going to the park every day like we did. But Amanda’s notes included closer hiking paths and things to do more locally if that’s of interest. Highly recommend this VRBO if you’re sticking around the Hancock area!
This cottage is really run down. Paint chipped off of walls and kitchen cabinets. There is no Keurig or equivalent. Instead, you get a black & decker drip machine straight out of the 70s. The view out of the sun room is an old and rusted abandoned pick up truck. I don't know where the ocean was.... we couldn't see it and didn't know where to walk. No dishwasher, and the kitchen faucet was broken. The tv is teeny tiny...24 inches which is smaller that my kitchen tv at home. We paid over $1000 for 2 night stay. Outrageous! If you want to go to Bar Harbor, it's a 40 minute drive.

This home is immaculate and beautifully decorated but be aware that there is only one private bedroom. There is another open room with no door at the bottom of the stairs adjacent to the bedroom with 2 beds which would be suitable for a family with children but it is not suitable for 2 couples. Also be aware that the sleeping area is located in the basement. The one air conditioner in the tiny half bath is not sufficient to provide cooling comfort for the first floor. On the positive side, in addition to being tastefully decorated, there is a bright, comfortable sunroom off the living area and as I've already mentioned, the home is absolutely immaculate.
Great quiet location, tidal falls are outstanding!
We drove to Acadia NP early (Mt. Desert and Schoodic Pt) in the morning to avoid the crowds, and walked to explore the tidal falls each afternoon. It was an outstanding location and away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed catching crabs and seeing sea stars and seals at the tidal falls at low tide. The glass window porch was a great place to relax with the windows open and breeze blowing in the evenings. The sitting area under the car port was great in the heat of the day. Cooking tinsels were somewhat limited, but we made it work for us. It would have been nice to have a frying pan/skillet, and the sink faucet head was stuck on high spray mode which made everything wet with overspray if the water was turned on full. Overall, this was exactly the type of place we wanted. The beds were very comfortable, and the place worked well for our family. For those of you traveling East in summer to Maine, keep in mind the sun rises very early on the eastern side of the eastern time zone. It can be bright very early! All the more reason to get up and out to see the sights early and avoid the crowds if going to Acadia.
The owners have thoughtfully remodeled this home, and we very much appreciated the cleanliness and aesthetics of it. There was more than enough room for our family of four, and we particularly enjoyed playing cards in the sunroom in the evening. Amanda was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to questions.
We made breakfast and dinner a few times and would have appreciated a dishwasher. 😊 The kitchen nozzle was stuck on the spray mode and made washing dishes a bit of a hassle.
Things to note: The location did make for some challenges with sourcing groceries and restaurants with healthy options. We would have stocked up at a Hannaford grocery before arriving had we known. One other detail to know for those guests with light sleepers is that whoever stays in the queen room has walk through the twin bedroom to access the bathroom and the upstairs.
While it did take about 30 minutes to reach Acadia, the drive was easy and we did the trip three days in a row. We enjoyed our stay!
