This was our first ever visit to Antibes, and our first self catering holiday with our young family, so we had a little anxiety prior to arrival at the apartment "Le Bonheur".
First off - everything practically and administratively went very smoothly. Micaela, the owner, fielded the paperwork and payment efficiently, and Cathy (the local property manager) was friendly, responsive and prompt with everything she did.
The property itself has a nice layout with just enough space for a family of four with young children (aged 5 and 2). It is on the first floor entered by quite a steep flight of stairs, which was fine but needs handled with care.
Everything worked as it should, apart from the double sofa bed in the living room which wouldn't open out completely flat, but this was fine as my wife ended up with the kids most nights. The air conditioning was superb and was very much needed as we had daily temps of 37 degrees, even early evening it was still around 34. The fridge was also very cold, which isn't often the case in a hot country.
If there was a negative about the apartment it is that it would benefit from some new towels and bed linen - which wouldn't cost much, and maybe a new double sofa bed in the living room. We didn't try the two single sofa beds so cant comment on them.
None of this was at all a major issue however as the price of the property for the week was extremely good value given the area, location, and the fact it was the start of peak holiday season.
Now, onto the location. Wow! In two respects. Antibes itself is just wonderful, the old town in particular. Just a perfect place to wander around, relax, eat and drink. Great for kids as there is a beach and any traffic is minimal and slow.
And the actual location of the flat itself within the old town, has the main morning vegetable and meat market almost literally on its doorstep - this area transforms into a series of open air restaurants in the evening, so you can eat and drink in a variety of places within 1 minute walk of the property. The area where the apartment is couldn't really be bettered as an area to stay in in old Antibes.
I'd say the nearest sandy beach was 250m away by foot.
So the location of the property is its main selling point, and gave a great base from which my family and I completely fell for the wonderful Antibes.
