Barb was wonderful to work with and everything was wonderful. We were visiting family on the pond so the location was perfect. We enjoyed the beautiful pond views and being close to several hiking trails. We hope to stay there again!

Thank you for the kind words. We were happy to have you here !
Everything couldn't have been more perfect! The host was outstanding-- she even started a fire in the wood stove for us so that the cabin would be toasty when we arrived after a day of hiking in Acadia. The place itself is exactly as described and if anything even nicer. I wish I could live there! The lake was gorgeous, the beds comfortable and the stars were amazing. Can't wait to go back!
This was a wonderful place to stay, felt just like a summer camp! Cute cabin with a beautiful pond next to it for swimming/fishing/kayaking, etc. About 45 minutes from Acadia National Park, depending on what trail you're headed to.

My husband and I stayed at this camp for a full week, and it was paradise! Listening to the loons, watching the bald eagles, watching the ducks on the pond. The cabin is adorable. If you want a peaceful escape this is the place for you!

Thank you so much. We love watching all the wildlife here as well & sharing with people who appreciate it too is the best!
We had a great time at Barbara’s waterfront cabin — perfect for a long weekend getaway. The cabin was clean and homey, and Barbara was very communicative! The access to the water and the kayaks provided made for a great time on the pond.
The cabin and property were as listed. Communication with the property manager was great! Thoughtful, friendly and easy to work with. Beautiful lake, rustic and fun. We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was older but very well kept. Nice and close to Bar Harbor and Acadia Park (about 40 minutes).
This cabin was exactly what we were hoping for. The property was a quick 30 minute drive to Acadia. The nights were cool but the space heaters kept us perfectly warm. The bathhouse was directly outside the camp and had another heater. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, from the glass container with potable water next to the bathroom sink, to the extra blankets to help with the changing season, to the kayaks readily available for our use. This is most definitely a place we would rent again and recommend to anyone!!
The cabin was perfect and just what we needed. The lakefront property was idyllic and indeed the slice of wilderness heaven promised in the listing. The host, Barb, was helpful, kind, compassionate, and quite amenable and understanding. She even came out in a storm when we locked ourselves out by accident. The location and proximity to other jewels of Maine as well as the freshest of seafood and Maine home cooking made day trips a very feasible possibility! You can’t miss with this property … we will definitely be back!
Don't skip past this listing - this was a true gem. We felt the true Maine cabin experience, could get to Acadia in 35 minutes, 15 minutes to the grocery, so the convenience is there if you're nervous about the distance. The pond was gorgeous, my family loved using the kayaks and swimming. The cabin was very well equipped and we were able to cook our own meals with ease. Barb was a very friendly and thoughtful host as well.

Thank for reviewing your stay with us. I’m sorry you were surprised - In the detailed description of the property you will find the information regarding the bathroom and the water situation. This is a cabin that sits directly on the waters edge, and putting in a bathroom that close to the water would not be permitted. Hope you enjoyed your stay regardless!
It was very clean. No potable water and had to go outside to use the toilet. Only heat was electric heaters and a woodstove. I did not understand it would be that way. I would not go back.

Hello Teresa,
All of the information regarding the water and heating by woodstove/electric heat, etc is included in the VRBO listing details. It is always disappointing to hear when a guest would not recommend the property or that they didn’t enjoy their stay as much as they could have. I sincerely wish that you had read through the description of the cabin thoroughly, and knew what to expect upon arrival.
Barbara and Tom are wonderful hosts with a beautiful vintage camp located right on the water. A true wildlife lovers oasis we saw beavers, otters, loons, osprey and many other birds. The fishing was a hit. Location was convenient to Acadia yet removed from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor making for the perfect retreat. We will definitely be coming back.

Thank you for the kind words! We love it here and are so glad you did too. Look forward to having you back anytime. P.s. tell the kids the fairy’s are loving the little moss and rocks that you put out for them!
My daughter and I enjoyed the cozy cabin, beautiful lake, and fire pit very much. It did rain one night making nighttime trips to the bathroom building more inconvenient (which I must admit that I had not seen in the description that the bathroom was in a separate building). Maybe having an umbrella available by the cabin door would be good idea. I loved the smell of the pines and wood chips that greeted me each time I was outside.
My significant other and I had a beautiful stay at this unique cozy cabin! This was our home base while in the area exploring Acadia and we loved starting our day with views of the lake and coming back to enjoy relaxing by the firepit. Everything was as described and it was nice having our own private bathroom a few steps from the main cabin along with access to a washer and dryer to keep our laundry fresh after a week of traveling and camping. Barbara was extremely helpful and communicated very well in planning for our arrival and answering questions we had during the stay.

This place was beautiful. An amazing sunset over the lake greeted us as we arrived late Friday. My daughter, niece and nephew immediately went to the dock on the property and started fishing while I unpacked the car. There is a separate area for a campfire which we relaxed at to make s'mores. The next morning the kids fished and I kayaked before we left for Bar Harbor and Acadia. We made it back to the lake cabin to cook dinner, fish and kayak some more and relax. We had our own bathroom cabin steps from the main cabin with a toilet stall, shower stall and sink. It offered privacy and gave a country home feeling. We left the next morning and it was bittersweet. My gripe to myself was that our stay was too short. I absolutely want to come back to this same place, make more memories and stay longer next time. Very relaxing, homey, quiet and felt private while being surrounded by nature. Barbara thoughtfully left us a package of whoopie pies and really made this cabin feel comfortable for us. We all loved this experience, amenities and it was plenty of space for us. Thank you so much!
I grew up coming to George’s Pond every summer with my family, and raised my own children on this pond. I loved it so much that I eventually relocated to Franklin from the Philadelphia area full time.
Why they chose this property
The Downeast region of Maine has something for everyone. Where we are located is literally 6 feet away from the lakes edge. There are magnificent sunsets, wild life, swimming and hiking right out the front door. Acadia National Park is a natural wonder not to be missed and only about 35 minutes away ( give/take) Bar Harbor has excellent shopping and restaurants, and there are many boat tours that offer whale watching, and nature cruises Antique stores and small brew pubs are also close by. Several mountain and waterfall trails are within a short driving distance. Natural fun at its best.
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is one of the only surviving original camps on the lake. Built in the 1940s, it retains its rustic charm but still has all the amenities you could want. There is a Full kitchen, WIFI, TV and assorted games. There is a fire pit for toasting marshmallows and telling stories. There are available kayaks, fishing and great sunsets. We are located on George’s Pond Road ( paved) for easy access. Front deck is steps away from the water to enjoy your morning coffee while being greeted by the loons. Where we are on the lake is a gradual walk into the water, with no steep hills or drop off. This place truly is what they mean when they say it’s the way life should be.
