Sherry was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed and she was so informative about the island happenings and her recommendations were spot on!
We had a wonderful stay in Sherry and Ivan’s cottage in Bar Harbor. Location was unbeatable! Sherry was very helpful and informative during our entire stay. We loved having a kitchen and a designated parking spot in the downtown area. The cottage also had plenty of helpful extras such as umbrellas, to go coffee mugs and a space heater for our thin Florida blood in the cold!
Everything you need for your stay. Perfect to walk to anything in downtown Bar Harbor and not have to move your car from its reserved spot, an absolute must when staying in town. Short drive to park entrances. Sherry and Ivan are attentive but not intrusive and kept us up to date on any changes due to covid. Can't wait to return!
The apartment is in a perfect location or, central to everything in Bar Harbor. Communication with our host was great before and during. Apartment is ideal for two people or couples traveling with one child. They gave us a wonderful place to relaxin between all of our hiking and lobster feasts.
This was our second year at this wonderful location and we were not disappointed! The cottage is equipped with everything you need and we love the balcony overlooking busy West street. It was easy walking access to shops and restaurants and we like having our own designated parking spot! The new coffee shop below us was a great new perk which we enjoyed almost daily. Sherry and Ivan are exceptional hosts - making sure we have everything we need! We look forward to returning again in June 2022!!
This was the first time that my husband and I had visited Bar Harbor and it was a wonderful experience! Sherry was very helpful in giving advice about the area - restaurants / things to do etc. Our rental was in the town of Bar Harbor, within walking distance to restaurants, shops as well as a very short driving distance to Acadia Park where we hiked daily. Our rental had a balcony that had a great view - we would sit out there most mornings and evenings. Also, there was an assigned parking space which was KEY in downtown Bar Harbor! The kitchen area was small but had everything we needed for eating in some nights.... We will definitely be back!
The view off the balcony might be better than actually shown! We spent every afternoon sitting out and watching. It’s right in the heart of down town and an easy walk to several restaurants and shops! We will for sure be back
Location location location :-) Alone Moose is really a perfect location. The porch over looks West St and has a wonderful view of the harbor. Sherry and Ivan were perfect hosts. Sherry forwarded so much useful information about the area and things to do. Excellent communication with her! We stayed busy the whole week, even though we had some rain. Good thing Sherry had umbrellas in the closet ;). We had a lovely stay.
Although have to give some credit to the weather, the location and comfort of our stay were excellent. We especially loved the ability to sit on balcony and watch the view. Loved the recliners when inside. Bed is very comfortable too. Location was great to browse the neighborhood and so much to do in Acadia and surroundings. Our host was available and had great suggestions. Definitely recommend.
The Alone Moose Suite was the best location in Bar Harbor. Views of the harbor from our balcony were amazing. The suite was super clean and spacious. It was beautifully decorated with artwork from local artists, including the hosts, Sherry and Ivan. Preparing meals was a breeze because the kitchen was well equipped. Ivan and Sherry were excellent hosts, friendly and very helpful.
Great town, sites and plenty to do and see. Right in the hub of the town. Caught the tail end of the fall season but still beautiful. Sherry and Ivan were very friendly and offered great tips during my stay.
Nest location in downtown Bar Harbor. Excellent view from the balcony. We made it our home for a week. Sherry and Ivan were great hosts and worked with us on our reservation during this tough time. We will be back.
Thank you Sherry and Ivan, for opening your doors, and Maine's shores, to two Covid-weary New Yorkers! Your Alone Moose Suite was exceptionally equipped for a comfortable escape. The deck provided a beautiful view each morning and a place for a glass of wine at night. The area was rich in all kinds of diversions. Cruises, carriage rides, beautiful strolls and hikes. Dining in and dining out were easy options.
Sherry was gracious and helpful and always available. Even when she was on her own vacation!
We would love to come back, next time without face masks!
We had an enjoyable time in Alone Moose Waterfront Suite #2 ! This a very clean and spacious suite (the photos do not do it justice!) It has a LARGE living room area that includes a table and chairs for dining and on the other end includes a WELL STOCKED kitchen! The living room includes a futon and a (pull out) couch which provides lots of space to spread out. The bathroom is a good size and it has everything you need. The bedroom includes a VERY comfortable king size bed with wonderful linens and pillows. The room also includes a large closet and large bureau. We appreciated the AC’s in both the bedroom and the living room. One of the best features is the porch (that is off of the living room)! It overlooks West Street with views of the harbor and it was so relaxing to sit there either in the morning with coffee or at night with a glass of wine. The location was perfect for us, which included a designated parking space (not on the street) and it was an easy walk to the center of town and back.
Sherry Rasmussen is the perfect hostess/landlord. She met us at the suite when we arrived, to show us around and answer any questions, and she was available, if needed throughout our entire stay. She provided the suite with an informative binder full of information about Acadia and Bar Harbor. We are hoping to reserve this suite again!

These VT customers were our first since the Governor of Maine opened up
our state to VT, NH and ME visitors. It gave these folks the opportunity to come from their beautiful home state to Acadia National Park to enjoy the mountains and ocean for a few days. We are delighted to know that they will be customers again…and hopefully next time…we won't all be wearing masks and social distancing. For now, we are all careful while we continue to safely do the things we love.
We had a wonderful week in this spotless suite right next to the harbor. The deck was a great place to sit with a cup of coffee and watch the cruise ships come in and anchor. We walked up a block and rented bikes to see the island by carriage road -- you can hitch a ride on the island buses with the bikes. Walked to dinner every night. Sherry and Ivan are wonderful hosts, full of information about fun things to do. They made it very welcoming. Plus, the artwork in the suite is amazing -- be sure to check out Ivan's art studio next door.
Our stay was exceptional. Very nice accommodations with everything you need and location was best!
Everything was communicated very well and location was outstanding. Rental was super clean and had all the extras if needed. Check in and out was very well communicated. Very nice people and awesome experience in beautiful Bar Harbor!
The property is located in the very heart of down town Bar Harbor with easy access to all the wonderful attractions in the area. The apartment was very clean and fully furnished with all the amenity's you could ever need during your stay. From bedding and cookware to brochures and even grocery bags with a grocery store just a few minutes walk from your front door! Climate control was very comfortable with two air conditioners and plenty of heat when required. The overall apartment was very spacious and had a great view of the harbor. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony taking in all of the night life that Bar Harbor has to offer. The owners were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all the activities going on and all of the wonderful attractions in the area. The ability to walk to any shop or restaurant while leaving the car behind in your very own private parking space was superb. To the Sherry and Ivan we tip our hats to a wonderful home away from home and we look forward to staying again!
Sherry was there to meet us when we arrived, and showed us all around the apartment, telling us about the amenities as well as talking about things to do in the area. We like to stay where we can fix many of our own meals and were very pleased to have a kitchen with everything we needed. There was even a lettuce spinner! (I eat a lot of salad, so that was a real plus for me, and we don't often find them in rental houses.)
We hiked many of the trails in Acadia National Park and enjoyed evenings at the apartment on the balcony overlooking West Street with all the activity there. The bed was comfortable and we had a reserved parking space.
I can't think of anything that we needed/wanted that wasn't available. (I also noticed and appreciated several pottery pieces that must have been Sherry's art work - beautiful!)
Thank you so much Sherry & Ivan
Property was as described. Great location. Close to everything in Bar Harbor and Acadia park. Sherri was great to work with and went out of her way to provide information that could help us enjoy our stay. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in Bar Harbor.
The property is very nice and in the perfect location. We especially enjoyed being able to walk to dinner after a day in Acadia. Sherry and Ivan are perfect hosts.

Couldn’t ask for anything better
Where do I start. The balcony with the view of the harbor. The location close to everything but yet just right so you don’t get the noise. Your own parking spot. Able to walk to dinner, grocery, tour boats.
The accommodations were just right. Very, very clean. Comfee bed. Full size refrig. Perfect sized bathroom. Just a nice spacious unit.
And the hosts were perfect. Very helpful and informative. Made themselves available but never intrusive.
If someone were to ask me where to stay I would say here!

About the host
Hosted by Sherry Rasmussen
Sherry and Ivan have been involved the ARTs in Bar Harbor since the early 1970’s and participate in local ART events such as First Friday ART walks. Ivan, who was once Bar Harbor Harbormaster, has spent most of his life near the ocean first in his native Oregon and now on Mount Desert Island, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Sherry traveled extensively as an international flight attendant. Though her travels took her to many beautiful destinations, she says that Mount Desert Island is truly one of the world's treasures.
The beauty of the island is what drew them to Bar Harbor. The magic of the island will captivate you as well.
Ivan captures the beauty of the Acadia in his watercolors that he sells in his own 'ART on West' and other galleries.
Bar Harbor is one of Maine's most walkable communities so Sherry and Ivan live right in the downtown for the convenience of walking to movies, theater, dining, boating, shopping and more. Suites visitors enjoy walking or biking into Acadia National Park. A frequent question asked, " Is Bar Harbor near Acadia National Park?" The downtown is surrounded by Acadia National Park and nearby Bar Island is just a short walk from your suite. Did you know that the 'bar' to Bar Island is the reason for the name of Bar Harbor? You can see Bar Island from your suite. It is one of several islands of Acadia and the only one that is actually walkable from Bar Harbor!
Why they chose this property
Bar Harbor and Acadia are magical…you'll see!
What makes this property unique
The best feature of the unit is the furnished covered private deck with waterview and there is so much room in the suite. For your convenience there is private, off street parking and the amenities of the world renowned Village of Bar Harbor are all walkable. Location, location, location. Your suite is located on the West Street Waterfront and close to Bar Harbor's fine restaurants, galleries, and boating activities. You can watch the horse drawn carriages when they come into town for wedding and special events. There is a free self guided walking tour called 'Museum in the Streets'. You can jump on the tour at the neighboring Bar Harbor Club or anywhere in town to learn the history of our hometown.
