About the host
Hosted by Ashley Daniels
We’re a family of six based in Iowa and created Cedar & Stone Retreat as a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of the Driftless region.
Between school, work, and the everyday pace of life, we’ve always valued having a space where everyone can be together without distractions. Whether it’s morning coffee with a view, kids playing downstairs, or evenings around the fire, this home was designed with those moments in mind.
We love hosting and have tried to think through the little things that make a stay easier for families and groups. Our goal is simple — to give you a place that feels comfortable, peaceful, and easy to enjoy from the moment you arrive.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location because it offers the best of the Driftless region — quiet, scenic, and just a short drive from everything Decorah has to offer.
You get the feeling of being tucked away with beautiful views and space to unwind, but still close to local favorites like breweries, parks, and some of the best trout fishing in the area. It’s the kind of place where mornings are slow, evenings are quiet, and you can truly settle in for a few days.
It’s a great balance for families and groups — peaceful when you want to relax, with plenty to explore nearby when you’re ready to get out.
What makes this property unique
Cedar & Stone Retreat was designed with groups and families in mind, offering plenty of space to spread out while still feeling connected.
One of the biggest things that sets it apart is the layout. With multiple living areas, a fully finished basement, and a dedicated bunk room with four twin beds, there’s room for everyone to relax without feeling crowded. Whether it’s kids hanging out downstairs or adults enjoying a quiet evening upstairs, the space works really well for groups of all ages.
The setting is another standout. You get peaceful Driftless views and a quiet, tucked-away feel, but you’re still just minutes from Decorah’s best spots — breweries, parks, and local favorites.
We’ve also tried to make it especially easy for families. From pack ’n plays and a high chair to games, books, and a comfortable setup for gathering together, it’s a place where both kids and adults can settle in quickly.
It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a weekend getaway as it does for a longer stay — comfortable, spacious, and designed to be enjoyed together.
