Great location for exploring the Northumberland coast.
Great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The cottage was cosy with a very homely feel and well equipped. The beds were comfy. Most of the house was clean, however we did have to give the kitchen a good clean when we arrived. There was crumbs in the sink and on some of the surfaces and the kitchen bin still had remaining food left which hadn’t been wiped on the top of the bin. The kitchen floor could also do with a clean. We understand that the cleaner only has a certain amount of time but we feel the kitchen and bathroom are the most important areas to clean. Other than these small negatives, we enjoyed our stay.

Well what can I say about Dotty Cottage…we absolutely loved it! It was in the perfect location
Well what can I say about Dotty Cottage…we absolutely loved it! It was in the perfect location and gave us access to so many different things we could go and see/do. The cottage itself was perfect. It was our first family holiday with our new baby (5 months old) and I couldn’t wish for a nicer place. It’s surprisingly spacious, so homely and had everything we needed for the week away. We had a high chair and a travel cot for us which was a big help. It’s been an amazing family holiday and we can’t thank you enough. Will definitely be visiting again and booking in at the cottage!

We had an amazing stay at Dotty Cottage.
We had an amazing stay at Dotty Cottage. Nice quiet rural location, a great base for exploring the Northumberland Coast. The cottage is surprisingly spacious and is very much home from home. There is everything you could possibly need and more; entertainment – Wi-Fi is good, Freeview, lots of DVDs, books, games etc; kitchen is well equipped with plenty of crockery, utensils, pots, pans and the cupboards are full of kitchen gadgets should you require them. The owners have thought of everything. The towels and bed linen are of good quality, beds are comfy as are the sofas. Every room has electric heaters for background heat, the bathroom has a heated towel rail and the wood burner heats the main radiators. It is a large wood burner so ensure you have access to plenty of fuel. The bathroom has an electric shower over the bath - it’s an old building fed by a spring so the water pressure is what it is but we found it ok. It is a large wood burner in the lounge so ensure you have access to plenty of fuel. We did not use the away-garden because of the time of year but it looked pleasant enough – possibly would not recommend for families with younger children because of the parking in the back yard and the away-garden. As mentioned in other reviews parking is at the rear of the property and is quite tight. We would highly recommend Dotty Cottage and would not hesitate to return.
We had a lovely stay recently at this cottage. It is located in a quiet area and not far from the A1 so ideal for travelling around the area. We settled in so quickly and the cottage had everything we needed especially for cooking meals.
The log burner was perfect for spending time sitting in front of relaxing after a wet day out and about. I couldn't recommend this cottage highly enough for a relaxing break away. A real home from home experience.

Brilliant cottage, so well equipped I didn’t need to have packed half the things I did as a family
Brilliant cottage, so well equipped I didn’t need to have packed half the things I did as a family with a 2 year old. the cupboard under the stairs full of toys was an Aladdin’s cave for her.
Gorgeous garden as well that is a perfect sun trap all day and evening.
Great access location for lots of sights and amazing beaches. Only scored a little lower on location as for some people they may prefer to be in a village/town, which this is not. It is located a couple miles from chathill. would recommend a car is needed to travel each day but within 10 minutes we were at Seahouses.
We are likely to book again and have already recommended to friends/family.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Dotty Cottage.
I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Dotty Cottage. The cottage is charming and extremely well equipped. The information provided by the owners is first class so nothing is likely to take you by surprise on arrival. There is also a huge amount of info in the cottage itself: from how everything works to recommendations of places to visit and to eat. The rooms are larger than you would expect for a terraced cottage. The Sitting Room is lovely. Particularly when the woodburner is blazing!! It is perfectly placed to use as a base to explore the fabulous Northumberland coast with its wonderful windswept beaches, charming towns and villages, stunning coastal driving routes and plethora of historic buildings and castles. Using the cottage as a base, I explored from Newcastle to the South to Edinburgh to the North with Berwick Upon Tweed, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne and Alnwick in between!! I had a fabulous time at Dotty Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

This cottage is spacious and well equipped.
This cottage is spacious and well equipped. It's position feels rural with views over farmland and is very quiet, yet conveniently close to the A1 and well located for travelling all over Northumberland. Despite being one of a terrace of cottages, there is no noise at all from neighbours and having your own designated parking space is a bonus. We visited as a couple but there is ample room for a family of 4 and the kitchen is easily capable of catering for that many. This is a great place for walkers and those who enjoy wonderful scenery. From National Park to coastal path it was all a joy.
